I haven’t been fishing for in 15+ years. But recently my girlfriend and I rented a tiny house on a lake and I decided it would be fun to give it try. Enter the dock demon. For less than $10 (on sale) you get a killer little rod and reel that gives you hours of fun. I caught absolutely nothing the entire time we were there but thats probably because I’ve always been a terrible fisherman. Going to keep this in my car for random ponds and streams in the area. Definitely worth getting one to keep in the car, or if you’re looking to casually get back into fishing.Be advised you will need to acquire bait, bobbers, hooks, and weights. But the back of the cardboard that the pole comes attached to has some instructions on how to tie a knot to the hook and placement for everything else.

I saw all the bad reviews on this little combo set that I purchased to take my 4 year old grandson fishing.I'm not sure what people had expected for under 10.00. This little set up is great.Thwvlittle rod is perfect for a little kid to fish with. Just drop the line in the water with a bobber and the world is good.The reel is just what is expected for a reel made by Zebco. Push the button and the line drops in the water. Grandpa doesn't have to untagle knots all day because the line is enclosed. Just like what was used when our kids were little.I just might use it in the winter for ice fishing. 😂😂😂

You can fish anywhere with the size of this pole. My left handed son does great with this set up

Fishing confession:I'm an older woman and I really like catching panfish. I had purchased a big, medium heavy pole because I just moved to where my primary fishing waters would be Lake Erie. Well, outside of the lake at a quiet local pond, I tried getting panfish with that big pole, and while I did catch them, I couldn't feel them biting. With the price of the dock demon, how could I resist giving it a try? I went back to the pond, and with small hooks, good old fashioned nightcrawler bait and the dock demon, the number of bluegill I caught could have made a fair size sandwich! I love too that with it's small length, I can easy put it in my "fishing backpack".Because of the sensitivity of this small rod, I think it would be an excellent pole on which to introduce kids to the delight of fishing. They'd be able to feel those fish biting, and learn the feel of it, so that's perfect! You know, for the price..... If someone wanted to buy a few and donate them to a community organization that has a "kids fishing day", that would be so awesome.So if you want to teach a little one the joy of a day on the water, or if you are an adult who simply just wants something very portable and potent to catch smaller fish -- this is the pole you want.

I've been fishing for over 53 years. Everything from bluegills in a farm pond, to Salmon in Lake Michigan, Barracuda in the Gulf of Mexico, Marlin off of La Paz Mexico and Mahi Mahi in Bali. Currently, I'm doing a lot of river fishing in South Korea and love my Dock Demon. Like other reviewers said, the reel it comes with is pretty much disposable but the rod is about as tough, and sensitive as they get. I bought 1 rod/reel combo through an Amazon partner company here in South Korea and liked it so much that I ordered 2 more for my daughter and I to use on our last trip to the USA. I paired the rods up with Daiwa Mini Spin Cast reels and we had a blast catching panfish all day on my hometown reservoir. Here in Korea, the rivers quite often have a lot of carp and these rods have no problem handling some of those fat boys. I'll be heading back to the USA in about another year and plan to buy a couple spinning rod versions to go with the 3 spincast rods I already own.

This is a great little rod and reel! The drag on mine is way too tight even on the lowest setting though. If I put anything less than 8lb monofilament on it the drag will break the line on the lowest setting. Also, the drag makes a very loud and annoying clicking sound when line is pulled out. Could be that I got a malfunctioning unit, but it seems more like a design flaw. If you do not need a functioning drag this is a great pole. It is well made. The rod is sturdy. And it casts very nicely (even with 8lb line…).

Great for quick hits off the dock for bluegill, perch and even large and smallmouth bass. Easy to cast and reel. Awesome for young or new to fishing. Great price.

Super easy setup instructions. We knew how to do the line and hooks but the instructions show photos and steps so if we didn’t know, we could have still gotten them ready. Didn’t catch anything but the cast great. No issues on reeling either. Some stick or the button doesn’t engage. These did not have any issues. Wish the line they include was a little better quality but the cost overall was so low I can’t complain. Just might wanna re-spool them with some better fishing line.

Absolutely a perfect product. Useful for kids who likes fishing. Athough looks small it has significant capacity to hold weight. Very easy to handle as well

The dock demon rod was poorly made and broke after the first use. Rod bend was great but the plastic reel broke with minimal use.

This weight on this rod is pretty good but I used it once and the reel broke so my personal statement is that you should buy a different rod but I would say that it's okay for it's value
