Great Purchase
I have younger kids so "nice" furniture is not a wise investment for me. I'm so happy I bought this futon. I've used it to replace a ratty old loveseat that used to be in our living room. If you know what you're looking for, this is a really great piece of utility furniture. First of all the price is amazing for what you get - I couldn't see spending several hundred dollars for a piece of furniture that's just going to get dirty or treated like playground equipment by the kids. It was easy to build and is very easy to clean. It's comfortable enough to sit on to play a game or watch TV or a movie etc., folds down very easily, and looks pretty nice too. If I wasn't worried so much about spills or stains I'd maybe consider a piece of "forever" furniture, but for right now (and the next several years) having something functional that I'm not necessarily invested in is what I need, and this fits my purpose perfectly.

Brilliant design
What a versatile piece of furniture for the price! I have it in the Vanilla surrounded by sage-green walls and a deep garnet accent wall. I entertain A LOT...I have the EMILY futon sofa bed AND the Emily Chase. I love the European klik-klak design (no struggles to put the couches into beds. You just lean the backrest forward then the spring releases and it lays flat) and here is what this couch can do: You can set up the couch and chaise as a sectional, but I have them displayed separately in different rooms.. The sofa becomes a full bed (which is very uncomfortable due to the bar in the middle), so I bought a four-inch memory foam topper and it now it is very compfortable. The chaise becomes a twin bed (but I recommend buying a twin foam topper for guests). Right now, I have the entire set staged as a KING size bed in the guest room, complete with a microfiber topper. It is very comfortable. The sofa lays flat and the chaise, when flat, lays against it and velcros to form a KING. In the winter, we put up the back rests to the king and it makes a classy looking king-sized couch in the den. So comfy to watch TV and read. These are fun pieces because they are so versatile that depending on your mood and imagination, you can give any room a facelift. Although this is pleather, it is still nice looking. I clean it with Method Almond oil.

High-end looks, low-end price, be realistic in your expectations.
I'm torn between 3-4 stars. As far as looks go, its a 5 star product. It seems its somewhere between Ultra and Mid-century modern. The color as others have stated isn't a bright Apple store white, but in fact more of an off, vanilla. With that said this futon is 4 feet away from a stark bright white desk but neither piece looks out of place, also incandescent lighting will cast enough of a warm light on the room that they almost become the same color. From an assembly standpoint I'd say its a 3 or a 4 depending upon when it comes time to flip it right side up. The 2 halves are tied together via a standard hinge and flipping it over by yourself can be a chore as there is so much flex it seems as if its going to break. 2 people flipping at the same time solves the issue but it can be done by yourself as well, you just can't toss it on its feet is all I'm saying. The feet, while metal, are a VERY thin gauge tubing. I can understand as other people have said the legs have snapped at the welds why. To avoid that try not to do the typical sitting adjustment where you just suddenly thrust or scoot your body to change sitting position, I'd imagine that is what puts the lateral torque that causes welds to break, sideways. Just a thicker gauge metal would resolve any worries. Not really sure how it could be reinforced other than the owner adding wood feet in other places, but that will bring me to my next point. So far I think I'm 3-4 weeks in to ownership, and while there is no sagging to the FRAME as of yet, I can see where there is a possibility for it with long term use. Just for the sake of disclosure I have this product in my front office/video game room at home, there might be a week where I don't even go in there, let alone sit down, but then there will be spurts like the last 2 weeks I have laid on this for 4 hours every night playing xbox. If this item was used as a daily living room sofa with multiple people at a time I think it would be much more short lived than the sporadic use mine gets. I am 5'11ish I guess and 210lbs. I feel it is comfortable as long as you understand what it is, its not some super cushy sofa your going to sink down into watching Netflix for 12 hours. The best way to describe the cushion/padding of this is like a waiting room chair or seats at the movie theater. It has cushion to it, but it is a firm cushion. It is not the most comfortable but it is a lot better than a solid plastic or wood chair with no cushion at all. In futon mode I think it would be the perfect foundation to put a twin or full size air mattress on for an occasional spur of the moment guest bed. Sleeping on it bare for a full night might be a stretch but for an occasional afternoon nap, I had no issues the one time I tried it. I don't get people that expect futons to be a full time primary bed and want the comfort of a tempurpedic, a futon is the same void as a daybed, occasional sleeping for naps or temporary guests without taking up the size of a full time dedicated framed mattress bed. Now as far as the material, the faux leather/pleather looks nice, but it is very very, very, very, thin. You can tell by just pushing your finger into it how thin it is. because of this, I can say dogs, cats, and children standing on this could destroy it in about 10 minutes. it is just such a thin, soft material, that I just honestly feel that the covering will wear out well before the frame, cushioning, etc. I have several faux leather ottomans from Target and they are a much thicker, resilient material than this. The thinness of the covering will also show stretching pretty fast, there is a side that has more wrinkles than the other from just the occasional use. However the tufted design tends to hide it, as well as a few pillows that will be on there anyway. Sorry for such a long review however, I am always glad to see thorough review for items I am considering. Bottom line is this is an amazing looking piece, that looks much more expensive than it is. Not recommended as full time sofa or bed. Design has its flaws but a little common sense and realistic expectation of its price and what it is intended for go a long way. Not recommended for children or pets as climbing on it could tear the thin material pretty easily. Comfort is so-so, but that is the nature of futons. For the price it is great so far, I would buy again. The manufacturer should look at increasing gauge of tubing used for feet, as well as a much thicker covering on par with similar faux leather items from big box stores. I will also say that due to the nature of this product being mass produced, with the materials used, I can see where it would be pretty easy to get a lemon or one with issues. I wish they made a matching armless barcelona style chair/ottoman to go with this as matching the off white color and matteness of the white could be an issue with furniture placed directly against it. Overall I got this for $189 and am satisfied with it at that price, and would still be happy up to $250. Anything after that they would need to significantly upgrade materials used. There just isn't much that compares to this high end looking design, at this low of a price.

Fun for the whole family, or Maybe just the kids
This product is fantastic! A core caveat here is your application. This item was selected for the "Cool Kids Club" or "CKC" which the builder calls the bonus room. This is the area where my kids have ownership within the house. All the games, legos, movies, coloring books, art projects, toys, etc are all stored in this area. In addition, it's the primary and only TV viewing area. Given the room's function, I wanted something functional and inexpensive. What caught me by surprise, is the extra dimension of "FUN" this piece of furniture brought to the room. This item was selected because the CKC looks like a miniature of the downstairs living room where I have white leather couches and a red coffee table. So from a design aesthetic, the contemporary style and color fit the bill. Also, I wanted something that could deliver additional sleeping space in a pinch, so the futon approach was selected. This is NOT a sturdy, classic couch or piece that will transition into a family heirloom. It is a fun, almost recreational piece with lots of function. My kids love the click-clack feature which allows different sides to recline at different angles. My daughter is so enamored with it, I often must carry her to bed. She snuggles up with a couple blankets, a handful of snacks and several pillows. She watches Dr Who until her eye lids drop and will protest being moved. In summary, this item has surpassed its expectations. It is well packaged and designed. It's an excellent economy or dorm room type of furniture. I assembled this in minutes. The instructions are simple and intuitive. If you have an application similar to mine, you will love it.

Beware it is a hassle.
Box did not have much damage, any damage was fixed with tape. When I got the futon out of the box there was no damage. When I went to the compartment to get hardware, all the screws were missing! They had fallen into the couch. So I had to unhinge that side of the couch and shake it around while being careful of the back piece that folds down. Finally I get all the hardware and connect the two sides together again. I start putting hardware in and everything seems to be fine. I am Still skeptical about the longevity of this piece. All the legs are made out of extremely thin metal and are spot welded. The bolts do not go into the wood (bolts aren’t supposed to) but they are so short that it is a concern. Also the plates for the front legs were not square but the ended up working. Flipping the couch over by my self was also had me a bit worried. Since the sides are only connected by 2 hinges. As a fabricator I would have used 3 minimum, 5 would be best. The back rests do fold done a lot. I would only purchase this to put against a wall. You need to be careful with the fold down parts when flipping/ moving, as these are weak points. The couch seems to be sturdy and comfortable while used as a couch. I am 6ft 290lbs and I stood on the couch to hang up a poster. I also had my self and a my brother 6’3” 280lb sit next to me and the couch was fine. So the 600lb weight limit seems to be true. If I was to modify this couch I would have more support in the middle, more hinges or preferably make it one piece. All in all I am happy with this convertible couch. It is aesthetically Pleasing. Biggest gripes are packaging (screws falling in couch), trust in hardware.

I love this Futon!
All in all with tax, I paid about $180. The sofa looks really nice and yes it is firm to sit and sleep on. I placed 4 18x18 inch decorative pillows on it and it looks fantastic. The futon will be used by an occasional sleepover guest. UPS delivered my box and though heavy can be slowly moved into the house. Assembly consisted on attaching 2 front slanted legs with 3 bolts each, and 3 additional cylindrical legs (2 for the sides and one for the center) with 4 bolts each. Two different allen wrenches were included for this task. There was nothing else to be done and putting the legs on was a breeze. I purchased a regular twin bed sheet set and a cheap twin sized foam topper. I think I'm going to buy a second cheap foam topper to make the bed comfortable for an adult. A child would also sleep comfortably. The fitted sheet was taut on the open futon but it was very acceptable. The open futon ('bed mode') is several inches wider than a twin bed. I had tested other types of futons that were in the $450 price range and the open/close mechanism was very cumbersome (and noisy). By contrast, this bed is really easy to open and close (and no loud noises) ! One final thing. I am 5'6" (66 inches) tall and I fit perfectly on the bed lengthwise with a couple of inches to spare. The futon's length is about 70" but once you put a pillow on one end and put your head on it, you realize that you don't actually take advantage of the full length . So keep that in mind. I love it and am very pleased with the look, the funcion, and the price.

PRODUCT ARRIVED DAMAGED & WITH ROACHES
Let me just start off by saying you get what you pay for. This futon is VERY cheaply made in China and looks nicer than it is. It’s VERY firm and not comfortable at all and it’s a foam cushioning that will eventually just deform. Now.. when I received the box it was huge - which I expected but it was SUPER GLUED (basically) shut. It was IMPOSSIBLE to open. Anyway I finally got it out of the box and I see this HUGE disgusting cockroach. Dead but still a roach. I’ve received packages before and I have seen bugs fine whatever, spiders but a whole ROACH. I saw a review before I purchased about bed bugs in someone’s brand new futon and I was like oh there’s no way that could happen. So I’m already upset but I decided ok it came from a factory in China, let it go. So then I open up the futon as it comes folded over and I notice a TEAR in the bottom right by the zipper where the legs/tools are stored - ok annoying I just paid $200 plus tax for something I expect to be BRAND NEW and not damaged. After miserably unboxing this futon and convincing myself it’s fine, decided whatever, it’s in the bottom. No one will see. TWO DAYS LATER only two days - tell me why I see ANOTHER roach in the morning dead on its back (obviously disposed the other one). My apartment is BRAND NEW built in July 2018. And when I moved in I had no problems. No one else has a problem in this building and I assumed it was dead because my apartment was fumigated for insects when I moved in as a precautionary due to the heat. I’m fully convinced this tear in the futon is/was housing cockroaches and I’m 100% returning it. Unbelievably disappointed. I might have just had bad luck and I STRONGLY advise purchasing from this company with caution. As it was packaged prior to being delivered to amazon - I don’t blame amazon. And I certainly don’t blame this apartment building. BEWARE.

Great origami couch for apartments!
I've done a lot of shopping for cheap couches. I went to Ikea, I tried the local furniture makers, but not many had anything comparable for the price. The couch comes folded flat, and in half. It is actually designed to be moved this way, and there is a convenient zippered pocked on the underside of the couch that holds the legs, hex drivers and bolts. I think this is probably a near perfect couch for apartments and such. Additional cushions will probably be desired for armrests and back support for people with short legs like mine. Seats two adults with room to spare, seats two adults and a kid for movies just fine. Pros: * Actually has a leather style finish, was expecting canvas. It feels very nice to the touch. * Comes in one whole piece, which folds out- origami couch. * Velcro fasteners on underside hold it together while it is folded for moving; legs, including mounting kit fits in a zippered pouch on the underside of the couch. * Construction is very solid. * Did not curse while installing it. Cons: * I have short legs, so I find it a little difficult to get my whole back against the back rest. I use a back cushion, not a big deal. * The tilt of the backrest could be a little higher. Again, back cushion. * If you can sit all the way back, you may feel the frame through the padding. For the size, sturdiness, and design, I was expecting this, not a big deal. * May need a foam pad on top if someone is going to spend more than a night on it. I paid less than $200 for this, so not a complaint.
