The remote only works with the grip. You need both.

Is there an L-Bracket that fits with this on the D850?

Really Right Stuff sells a D850 L bracket that is adjustable. Should work fine with this and the D850. Not inexpensive, though.

Do i need to buy the ms-d12en separatly ?

It comes with two battery trays, one for the Lion En El 15 (for Nikon D 850) and a tray for the double A's . For the EN EL 18 there is not a battery tray. I have two EN El 18 Li ions Kastar) but you must have necessary battery cover for their use is on its way (from China for $12). You can't get the higher frames per second unless you have the EN EL 18. I did not purchase the vastly higher priced batteries and cover from Nikon....in fact the Nikon motor drive is still on back order. I would have paid nearly $1000 for all the nikon gear, but as it is I've spent less than $200. A key difference in the Mcoplus battery grip is that it is plastic and not metal like the Nikon. However, all my key work will be with long lenses with their own mount and not depending upon the tripod hole in the battery grip. So far metal nikon battery grip with a more sturdy tripod hole is the only advantage I can see...hence I went with Mcoplus.
