One of our favorite books
....by my new favorite artist. I am not sure how I found this book, came across it one day looking at books here on amazon. I adore children's books that are beautifully illustrated, I collected them before my children were born and have continued to since. We have a wonderful collection, and I tend to prefer older stories, yet this new book stands out as one of the very best. It is simple, it is beautiful, it is a perfect bedtime or anytime story. In it, you see rather plain images of a child sleeping with their beloved stuffed tiger or their bird mobile followed by lovely images of their bedtime animal leading them through their dreams. Children can easily be engaged throughout the simple story, by asking about where their own bedtime friends will take them, and how (and if they are like mine maybe each night they have a different favorite animal!) My children love to look at these pictures and point out what they see and think. For anyone who truly adores the artwork in this book, since discovering it I have found her online and on etsy (she is the best selling artist ever on etsy, and the artwork in this book is available there).

Absolutely Loved Dream Animals!!!
What a lovely and magical book! The illustrations are darling and the story really sparked the imagination of my daughter. I also really loved the story which makes a difference when you are reading it to your child multiple times in a row! We decided to go with the board book version so it can stand up to little people and they can "read" it on there own if they want which was a good choice because it is much sturdier and has the same content and beautiful colors. If fact we all love Dream Animals so much at my house I am thinking about integrating it into my nursery theme for baby #2 on the way. (The author has an Etsy store where she sells prints of her work and I am planing on picking up a few.) I plan on making this wonderful bed time story a gift for my friends with babies on the way so that it can become a special night time ritual for them too. I would highly recommend this book to anyone with a special little person in their life.

Beautiful artwork to compliment a beautiful story
This is by far my favorite book to read to my daughters! The artwork is stunning, the story is beautifully written, and the concept is unique and intriguing. My older daughter (she’s 3) often tells me what dreams she had with her animals the next morning. My younger daughter (she’s 1) loves finding the “kitty cat” or “birdie” in the pictures, and squeals in delight with the circus page. I can recite this book by memory because we’ve read it so many times, and I can honestly say I am okay with that!!! It is catchy and sweet. I love this book! Side note: all of Emily Winfield Martin’s books are GORGEOUS, so if you like Dream Animals, check out the others!

Beautifully illustrated and imaginative!
This book was selected for a baby shower library builder for my grandchild. My first attraction was the gorgeous illustrations, and then the beautifully written, imagination-provoking writing. I’m such a proponent of provoking children to love books - this one was a perfect choice!!!

10 STARS! Simply THE BEST bedtime book! Our daughter was transfixed by each page and the concept.
10 stars! By far the best bedtime book we've found, and we have at least 40 on rotation. Very few make it into the top 4 slots that are read nearly every night. So far this book has been requested each night and ONLY this book. We read it 4-5 times and she spends minutes gazing at the incredibly magical artwork on each page. Today she re-created the under-the-sea mermaid tea party dreamscape! (see photo) Emily Martin is our new beloved author and illustrator! My husband is an artist in the film/animation industry (also writer) and he was wowed by her work and in awe. The ultimate judge though, is our daughter, who is 2 and 4 months. She is an extremely picking bedtime book reader. Some of her favourites include: Bear Snores On Steam Train Dream Train (close to the top of the list now) Steam Train, Dream Train The Big Red Barn The Wonderful Things You Will Be (by Emily Martin) The Goodnight Train The Goodnight Train Goodnight Moon (no longer in top 4 but was for a year) Journey (by Aaron Becker) Journey Bedtime in the Meadow Bedtime Lullaby

Really lovely book to read before bed time, the illustrations are so beautiful and the poems flow really well to encourage little imaginations. I read this to both my 1 and 3 year olds and the both enjoy it. My 3 year old likes to point out all of the little details in each of the pictures and she finds something new every time. I would highly recommend this book, especially as a story before bed.

Bought this book on a whim because we liked The Beautiful Things You Will Be and saw the book featured on of the pages in TBTYWB. We didn't know what this book would be about but we've since all fallen in love with this book and it has become our number one bedtime story. We can recite it 'in our sleep' by now, but never tire of reciting it again, whether it is in the car or at bedtime, because its simple beauty captures even us grown-ups. The beautiful prose, or rather, poem, is accompanied by gorgeous drawings and both work to captivate a child's - and adult's - mind and imagination. From the bear to the robins to the narwhale, Martin uses relatable animals that can be found in most children's toy collection or stuffed animal collection to invite them to dream about 'elfin hollows' and the 'seven seas'. 10/10 recommend this book to anyone - whether adult or child (ages 0-5 are probably the ones who will most love on this book).
