Great quality heat gun – powerful and worth every penny
This heat gun has some weight to it (just over 3.5 lbs), and you can really feel the quality as soon as you pick it up. It heats up fast, gets nice and hot, and makes a huge difference compared to the cheaper pen-style soldering iron I was using before. The build feels solid and professional, and it’s been great for my projects so far. The only thing I’m not a fan of is the case — it’s a bit flimsy and cracked after I accidentally set something heavy on top of it. Not a dealbreaker, just a little annoying. The tool itself, though, is fantastic and absolutely worth the money. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a serious upgrade from an entry-level soldering iron.

Weller 200 watt soldering gun. Excellent!!!
Received In brand new perfect condition. Nicely packaged soldering gun. My old thirteen year one finally gave up the ship. Just tested this one out and it’s incredible. Instant heat. Just finished tinning the new tip. Weller irons have served my family and friends well. Me as well! Very happy with my purchase. Highly recommend!!!

Follow instructions and tighten tip!
Nice soldering gun. Be sure to tighten the set screws for the tip. They seemed tight, but the tip would not get hot. After I used the included allen wrench to tighten it got hot right away. Now it is working great.

Works great and well made.
Weller is a very trusted name for soldering guns. I have been using the same 100 / 140 watt gun for several decades. I had a very old 200 / 260 that stopped heating so I ordered this one. First off, it works perfect. There is one major draw back for me. They put a trigger spring in that is twice as strong as needed. This makes it hard to hold the trigger on when doing work where the tip is in confined spaces. They still use the same little bulbs that they have used for decades. Bulbs that put out almost zero light. They are powered with a tap off the primary coil. I tried to put in some LED bulbs but then the tip is in, the voltage drops so low they give off no light. One would think they would consider upgrading this feature. I am fortunate because I was able to find another identical size spring that is around half as resistant and now I enjoy this gun as much as my others. If not for the spring issue, I would have given it 5 stars.

A tight tip makes the difference.
Not much has changed from the original design. I purchased this as a replacement for my 40 year old 8200. What I have noticed on first use was lack luster heat performance. Although this was easily rectified by tightening down the two set screws that affix the tip. Without a good solid connection, the current draw to the tip will hurt performance making the gun seem weak and under perform. Both lights were loose during shipping and needed a quarter turn. Other than that it works well.

7 year warranty Oct 2011 to Dec 2020 9 years 3 months
UPDATE: My first Weller lasted 9 years 3 months, the trigger got stuck which melted the trigger assembly inside which I found out taking it apart. I did not notice it was still on when I sat it down where it was for about 10 minutes when the smell alerted me. I paid $40.59 for my second one Dec 29, 2020. Both are made in Mexico, the new one has a smaller handle. If you solder or heat things on a regular basis this will save you time and is an excellent product. Amazon has the best price, being parsimonious (polite way of saying cheap) I checked around. I paid $41.43 for this including delivery from amazon. If you compare it to this one 180 Watt Industrial Soldering Gun there is a $4.95 difference. You get a 7 year warranty with the Weller, with the Chicago you get 1 year. You can read my review of the Chicago, it works good a few times then craps out. Sometimes the Chicago will get the tip red hot, others it works like my 45 watt Craftsman. The Weller has two heat settings, 200 and 260. I use it for soldering and it works extremely well, I also use it to heat brass stylus bar holders to melt shellac that holds the stylus in place for Edison cylinder phonographs. In both applications it works extremely well and has saved me a great deal of time. I work with silver bearing solder which flows at a higher temperature, the Weller melts it like butter. The less expensive 45 watt Craftsman pencil type took up to 30 seconds to do what the Weller will do in 5 seconds. As noted the first time you turn it on take it in the garage as you will get a smell from the tin on the tip melting. This product is made in Mexico so do not expect perfection in construction, but it works wonderfully well and has the 7 year warranty. The best part is it operates the same each time and the case does not melt like the Chicago does. After 9 years 3 months it died, I got the replacement overnight, thanks Amazon.

Actual Power less than 176W, Duty Cycle of 20% Makes Unusable
I wanted a higher-wattage soldering iron than my Weller base station for large gauge stranded wire (stereo installs) and this seemed like an affordable solution. The directions said 4 minutes rest for 1 minute of use, so for every 5 minutes you can use it for one minute. Unfortunately you're going to burn up 33% of your 1 minute of use time waiting for the iron to reach operating temperature (~20 seconds). Realistically the iron gives you ~40 seconds of use time every five minutes. This is not a usable duty cycle, which means it will be exceeded. If you use the iron for 5 minutes at a time it will die within days. I got one day of use out of mine, next day, dead. Lastly, I used the iron with my EcoFlow solar generator (battery-powered inverter) which has a display indicating power draw in watts. The Weller iron only draws 176 watts on high, far below it's output rating of 260 watts. This is inline with my experience trying to tin 2ga wire with it, the heat output was far lower than expected and I ended up using a butane torch as demands grew. Build quality is ok, the case is cheap, the dual-stage trigger is a poor design (high output is the first stage, why?), although usable. The actual power output combined with the ludicrous duty cycle makes the tool absolutely unusable and not a recommended purchase.

A Very Powerful Soldering Gun
This soldering gun is very powerful for soldering heavier wires. Unlike using a soldering iron this takes a long time to heat up. This soldering gun heats up in couple of seconds. It's nice to use this for simple jubs like one or two soldering jobs rather than for continue use. This soldering gun is also very quiet when compared with my old smaller of the same brand one. That one was purchase back in the 1970s which I been repairing and patch up through the years to keep it working. This type of gun shape device nothing more than a transformer with an on-off switch. For the soldering tip when the switch is turned on by pulling the trigger. The tip is supplied by less than a volt at very high current to get tip hot.

120V, comes with travel adapter
If purchasing in Europe be aware that it’s a 120V unit. It comes with an adapter but this is not specified anywhere in the description…. Little disappointed but it’s still a superior soldering iron.

Awesome soldering gun
This was a replacement for my old seller when she fell off the work bench. I was using the plastic cutter and had great results. I should have expected nothing less from a Weller
