More expensive than other inserts, but a better product
Had to fix a stripped out timing belt idler on a Honda, the kit included all the primary items (drill bit, counterbore bit, tap, tap guide, insert install bit, and five 20mm inserts. Due to the close quarters of the inner fender I had to shorten the drill bit shaft to use my 90 degree air drill. The rest of the kit's tools worked fine in a standard square drive tap wrench. I was real pleased with the quality of the kit components and the end results. Yes, the Time Sert is significantly more expensive than wire coils, but the product and the results are significantly better. I will never have to worry about this backing out on future timing belt replacements like i would with a wire coil insert.

Worked as intended.
2002 Honda Civic 1.7 - I stripped out the timing belt tensioner bolt hole working on my friends car. This kit worked and the car has a couple hundred miles on it since the repair. I had a helicoil set, but could not find a drill bit the correct size that would clear the frame. This was the only tool that worked, unless we figured out a way to drop the engine two inches or I cut up a drill bit. This bolt is too important to risk a cheap repair on, or get something crooked. Kit came with easy to understand instructions. The included insert was too long for my engine, I bought an assortment of different sizes when I bought the kit and one of them worked. Sorry, but I don't remember what size worked other than it was shorter than the kit and longer than 9mm. Measure the depth of yours with a nail or something and match it up. Keep in mind, if you mess it up or someone before you messed it up, there is a BIG-Sert kit for this hole.

Honda D17 tensioner hole repair
When you first strip this bolt hole it’s like the worst feeling ever and then you realize on top of that it’s the block! Thank goodness for timesert and this kit. Don’t be foolish and try to find a helicoil in this size, just get this kit!You will need the flat handles tap driver and socket tap drivers to get this job done WITH the engine in the car. The drilling and taping is pretty simple but oh my the counterbore step takes forever! Had a little difficulty with putting the actual insert in as I tried installing it on the driver first and then inserting. Don’t do that! Thread the insert by hand as far as you can, which should be able 2-3 threads left and then put the driver in. Theirs a video on YouTube with a fella doing this with the motor out of the car but it’s great to get your head wrapped around each step.Worked perfectly and the tensioner took the factory 33 ft/lb spec without an issue whatsoever. Highly recommended!!!

Save that Engine. Don't use it for a Boat Anchor.
I have to tell You folks this Kit works miracle's.. Watch every U-Tube on doing this procedure, but ad a couple things so You cant even mess up. This kit comes with the Tap Guide but not a drill guide. I made one on the drill press with a round piece of wood 1 1/2 inch's long with a hole in the middle. . Make sure its straight and hold it up to the hole so the drill bit can move and use ratchet adapters to cut Your hole. Its way easier and You will not have issues with the Air compressor. Take the water Pump off and remove the Harmonic Balancer for all the room You need. It all can be done up top with a 3/8 Ratchet and Tap adapters. Just take Your time and clean the hole and Tap every few turns. Use lots of Oil while cutting and drilling. When Your done, use Brake Clean and wash the hole out then blow it dry. Install the insert supplied with Red Locktite and let sit 24 hours. On a 07 Honda Civic

Not as easy as you would be led to believe/
I bought this because I stripped one of the idler wheel bolt holes on a Subaru EJ-20 engine. I watched several videos on YouTube and it looked easy. It was not for me. Make sure you have ample room to work. I had trouble getting this product to "bite" to begin threading a new hole. Be prepared.

2001 civic ex d17a2 tensioner and engine mount threads fixed. Paid for itself!
Like the other reviewer, i was torquing my tensioner in my D17 and around 25ft-lbs. it went "crack". i was like oh shoot!Glad the other reviewer mentioned his engine and made this an easy decision to buy.NOTE!!! NOTE!!! NOTE!!! The time-sert that comes with this is around 20mm long. the threaded hole for the Timing belt tensioner is only 22mm deep in the D17A1/A2. Instructions says you need 1/4in or 6mm clearance for the expansion tool to work.So you need to get additional Time-sert thats shorter. i bought this one. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07NTW7857 which is 16.2mm long and perfect. I was able to torque to 33ft-lbs no problem. also had to fix the Engine mount Thread hole. Saved me a lot of time and expense!
