It's a keeper!
This was an excellent choice for my application. It's not going to win the bass soundoff competition at the car show but it pumps out plenty of good bass sounds. I have a 1995 Camaro Convertible so space is at a premium. This unit was too big to fit under a seat so I mounted it on a shelf just behind the rear seat upright. It fits well. Almost everything you need to install the sub-woofer is included. You'll need to get a 30 amp fuse. The power wire (which is 17' long) comes with an in-line fuse holder for a glass fuse. I elected to get a different fuse holder that uses the blade fuse. My head unit supplied a sub-woofer out connection. This unit comes with a wiring connection that can either hook up to a regular RCA phono plug (male) or you can hook it into your speaker wires. I went with the phono plug so I had to get an audio cable for that. I found a 12' stereo audio cable with male RCA phono connectors on each end at Walmart for $8. This unit's wiring connector is a stereo input but you usually only wire a sub-woofer for mono input; my head unit only had a single output. In this case you usually connect the signal to the left input which I did. I connected the right line to the sub-woofer but taped it off at the head unit for later use if necessary. Then you hook up your power turn on wire to your head unit or you could connect a switch and manually activate your sub-woofer, This unit comes with three options for powering it on. DC activation (supplied by your head unit), Audio (it senses when you have audio on your speaker wires), or Remote (a remote switch and boost control is provided). I went with the DC turn-on since my head unit provides it and because I didn't want another control to have to mount on the dash. This unit also comes with a ground wire that has an eyelet on one end. You generally use a screw to mount the eyelet to the car's metal body to supply the ground. For the best ground supply you should sand off the paint to raw metal and then screw the eyelet down. Ok the bottom line, how does it sound? It sounds great! It provides that bass frequency that really fills out the music and I can hear the bass guitar, and other instruments in the bass range, so clearly. There are several adjustments on this unit for you to adjust it to your preference. I'm very pleased with this purchase. Reasonable easy to install and it sounds great. It's a keeper!

Its not the size that matters
Very happy with purchase. This is my 2nd unit (1st one was stolen on recent trip - don't leave unlocked :() and price now is less than what I paid for on a Black Friday deal directly from mfg. so a killer deal. Bought for my 16 year old son and installed under rear seat of Ford F-150. I think it has plenty if not too much bass if turned up all the way for my 50+ tastes, but for my son - he would like to install 2 or 3. The nice thing about this unit is that it fits easily underneath F-150 seat - not too tall. If you sit on the seat directly over it with bass cranked - you definitely feel the vibration. I like having the wired remote which allows me to turn down or my son to turn up easily up depending on who is in the car. I replaced the stock stereo/speakers with Kenwood KDC-X500 and Pioneer TSD6802R front/rear speakers which combined with the RF subwoofer - was a great upgrade at reasonable price. Some reviews say you won't hear it coming but I do when my son pulls up and I think more than enough bass for any vehicle when positioned in main compartment (vs trunk). Install was pretty easy - I did buy a separate kit - don't recall details but although the unit came with the wiring, I think it may not have had the fuse holder/fuse which has to be bought separately. Overall, good sound quality/adds plenty of bass to rock/rap.

I tried a few cheaper no-name brands, this one is a keeper
For what it is and how many watts the amplifier is, it's a great little sub! I have it installed in my 1 ton Chevy van under the passenger seat. I made custom brackets to bolt to the seat frame and it works out extremely well. After some fine-tuning and the addition of a four channel amp and upgraded speakers throughout, the sound quality is 200% better. I have zero distortion all the way up to full volume and I like to rock out a lot, so this seems to be the right choice for me with limited space. I originally tried the SSL8 inch sub woofer for $85 and it was a total disappointment. They claim 600W!! Rockford Fosgate was at least honest with their advertising and claims 150W. The sub and amplifier in one convenient small package is a well matched unit. It's not going to rattle the car next to you but it certainly fills my van with great music at an affordable price, I have a divider in my van and the backside is filled with tools for my business so it's just the small cabin area. I didn't expect miracles but I am very happy. This sub will probably work in most small cars and small single cab pick up trucks but I wouldn't expect it to perform as well in a large car or crew cab. Remember you pay for what you get. Save up your money and get a unit you can trust from a well-known name brand company.

Had this amp professionally installed behind the seat of my 2015 f150 super crew. There's still plenty of room between the back of the seat and the sub. The sound is great from my stock head. Highly recommend this sub/amp for a truck person who doesn't want to lose and cargo space and have their sub completely hidden.

Nice unit for confined space
Needed some low end bass for my Dodge Challenger with the standard Alpine system. Mounted in the trunk where the spare would be. Perfect area. Battery is in the trunk, so hookup was a breeze. Just enough bass...could use more, but the 10" Rockford Fosgate was a tad too big for that area. Sounds MUCH better. My second Rockford Fosgate. Had one in a car years ago, never an issue. Quality stuff.

Perfect amount of bass for most vehicles and styles of music
12/14/2019 Update The original sub died before the manufacturer's warranty expired so I got a free sub as a replacement (I had to pay shipping to send the broken sub back to Rockford Fosgate after a weird return process with the original seller who said I couldn't send it back to Amazon, then took time to figure out if I should send it to them or Rockford Fosgate). The sub replacement died after the warranty expired. My new setup is a sealed enclosure with a Rockford Fosgate P1 with a MB Quart 400.1 amplifier. Separate components are easily replaced if something goes wrong with the sub or amp. Not so much when they're combined. Two stars removed for long term reliability issues. I did push it pretty hard with the original sub, but I backed off significantly with the replacement. It did last longer, but also died. Music of choice: trap, breakbeat, house, trance, etc. (original review from 2017) I have this installed in my 2006 Lexus RX 330 behind the 40 part of the 60/40 split rear seats. This thing is so thin that you can't see it with the trunk open with the privacy panel hanging down (I don't usually pull it across). All of the stock speakers and headunit are aftermarket in my car so it took some time to fine tune the bass after it was installed by a local shop in Arizona called Joe's Custom Audio. On my Kenwood Excelon DDX393, I ended up with a high loudness setting, bass boost of level 2 (it goes even higher but then you can't hear your music), and subwoofer output adjustment of +10. EQ is set like a V shape and jungle (or drum n' bass) and hiphop sound great now. I don't feel a need to turn the volume above 15 on my head unit (supplied Rockford Fosgate bass volume knob is all the way up). I was thinking of getting a Rockford powered 12" sub to supplement this unit and having it setup for easy removal in case I need to fold down my seats, but I'm 38 years old and not quite sure I need that much bass. I had two 12" Rockford Fosgate subs when I was a teenager, but I don't need that much bass now (you can't even hear emergency vehicles which is really dangerous...you just see the flashing lights of an ambulance). If you are short on space and have a decent head unit that allows you to tweak many settings, this is probably all the bass you'll ever need. You can hear a little bit outside the car, but it won't rattle windows and set off car alarms. The included bass volume knob is nice so you don't have to go back into your settings. Just turn it down for the rear passengers (unless they love bass). It won't hit the low frequencies like a larger subwoofer, but very few songs use those types of frequencies. The Rockford Fosgate powered 12" solution is actually cheaper (ported box), but it takes up a lot more space and will attract a lot more attention (may need some dynamat too for rattles). This thing is built solid as a rock. It does take a little extra effort to fold down one side of my rear seat now, but the Lexus isn't really used to haul big stuff that often (last item was an LCD TV from Best Buy). If I miss the extreme lows, maybe I'll supplement this with a removable powered 12" solution, but I'm really happy with this purchase for now.

Great all in one sub!!
Bought this for my son for Christmas. He has a 93 GMC C1500 regular cab, so we were limited on space. Fits nicely under the seat. We opted to upgrade the wiring though, what came with it would work, but we ended up running duplex marine grade 8 gauge cable right to the battery. It has nice sound and the remote gain control is a plus as well. Does it break the windows with the bass? No. Is it a definite upgrade from factory? Absolutely! If your looking for some bass for your vehicle and need a clean compact active sub, I'd definitely recommend this one!! It has a nice clear bass, built in adjustable crossover, and hits hard especially given the size. He loves it, and I do too!

Good sound from a small unit but only lasted 18 months before it stopped working. DON'T BUY!!!
Unit was good for the price I paid when I bought it. Was easy to install and sounded good for being such a small enclosure and sub. But it died after only 18 months of hardly using it as its in my vacation home vehicle. SO I hardly ever used it. Don't buy as it will die on you and they are not serviceable and can only be replaced if in warranty which is only one year. I now have a $200 wheel chock. Pathetic something from Rockford fosgate last such a short time and can't be fixed! Horrible quality!
