For a number of years I've used the scum sponges that look like turtles or seals etc. They usually came in a package of 20 or so for around $20.00. One day I decided to buy this brand to change things up a bit. I felt they were expensive considering they sold for $15 for 2 units, but the reviews were good so I clicked on the "purchase now button." The packaging says each sponge will last an entire season. I've used for 2 weeks, and they do not change color immediately like the sponges I used previously. The best thing is they do a TERRIFIC job. My water is extremely clear, as the sponges cleared out any super-tiny debris in the water column. As you can see in the photo, the clarity is exceptional. These are absolutely worth the money and I highly recommend them for your spa.

I tried another absorber and this works best and is easiest to rinse and reuse.

These are replacements from my previous pair I had for 3yrs! They hold up really well and help keep the oil out of my hot tub. I like how small they are and they can float while we're in the hot tub without taking up space.

Don't be fooled they are advertised as 8" x 8". The ones I got were 3-3/4" wide by 4-1/2" tall. A little small for our 6 person hot tub. They do float and seem to collect the oils on the top of the water though.

Works great in my bromine based hot tub. Just let it float around until it appears waterlogged and replace with a fresh one.

I put both in my 500 gallon hot tub and I no longer see any light film on the top of the water. It also grabs any small bugs.

If your pool is longer than 10 feet (our is 38ft), don't waste your money! A zero rating for sure. IF you use it for a jacuzzi, or small outdoor custom spa, then maybe it will work. Unless there is a strong breeze, it doesn't move as much when it becomes saturated with scum. Then it requires twice to 3 times a week cleaning. There are better choices!

I've been using the Sponge bugs for many years! I find them to be a great product for removing scum and oils that can build up in a hot tub so it cuts down on cleaning. Just throw it in and let it do the work!
