Best invention
This is the curtain rod you need! Looks nice, easy and no drill install & DOES NOT FALL! It holds the weight of blackout curtains, on a very wide window. I'm so impressed.

Perfect for cinder block windows!
At last there's finally a curtain rod to put up over those annoying cinder block windows! Because we're renting, we've had no way to drill holes into that stupid cinder block to put up blackout curtains for our baby. And if you know cinder block, you know that nothing sticks to it either, so after months of trying out combinations of Command strips and hooks that would suddenly fall down after a couple of weeks, we decided to give this curtain rod a shot. And it WORKED! I was afraid it was going to be one of those stupid twist rods in the middle that I can barely move once there are curtains on it and that dig up the wall paint once you try to install. Instead this was a nice set-up with easy instructions to hold it in place and twist just one nice knob on the end. I got it up, down (to readjust the curtain grommets), and up again by my weak postpartum self in about 5 minutes. And it hasn't fallen off in the 3 months since we got it! Plus it looks like the nice, modern polished curtain rod we wanted instead some cheap one from the 90s. Definitely recommend if you're in an apartment or renting - and especially if you have to work around stupid cinder block walls! Update: 1 year later, and these haven't fallen down once! Still giving them 5 stars!

Flimsy but does the job.
This product is mostly plastic, but the brackets are metal. That being said it's holding up "blackout" curtains without an issue and I had very little trouble installing it by myself, on a swivel chair, though I did accidentally pull off the round part on the right end. It pops back on without issue, but now it won't unscrew properly to add/remove curtains, though I did manage to work around that fairly easily. If you're looking for a high quality product this is not it, but if you're looking for a simple way to put up curtains in a rental with pre-installed blinds, this is perfect. As a side note, I noticed that Target sells a product that looks identical, under the Room Essentials brand. Even the instruction stickers are the same. And there was nothing in the packaging to confirm that this is a Maytex brand product. So I have to wonder...

Great concept without great execution, lot of room for improvement
I bought it for windows 56 inches wide. First of all, the product that I got was different than the picture with much shorter bracket, which I presume produce less frictional force and therefore makes it less stable. It fits alright in my case, with a tendency to rotate vertically. However, with a wider window with the 48-84 inch rods, it may not have enough strength. The rubberized pat of the brackets that faces the wall is definitely a good design and super helpful. However, the rods are not so sturdy. these rods are basically tension rods with bent brackets to look like a regular curtain rod and the relatively flimsy design causes failure to stay attached, more frequently than it should be. It can hold a 3 layered heavy blackout curtain alright, but the strength would have been better if the rods were sturdier with larger brackets. The twist that locks the telescopic rod sections at a particular length is also not very functional, as it twists very little and therefore can be undone and fail rather quickly. At best, this is a good product to go for if you are at a pinch, however there is a great room for improvement.

Working as intended!
I have bought four of these at this point, 2 of each size and i plan on getting one more. The only time they don't stay where I put them is when I haven't made sure to tighten the tension rod enough. They hold up standard black-out curtains just fine, but when you get into the longer areas (probably 55" or more) you will need to support the center with heavier curtains. I've only had one minor issue with one set so far, where the fine-tuning adjustment knob falls off when gravity is allowed to do it's thing, but it hasn't impacted the usability of the unit at all.

As a renter, these curtain rods are so ideal. No drilling, no holes, no worries. The footings of the rods are small enough to fit into a smallest of widow frames only needing about an inch clearance. Super easy to install as well. I bought two of these!

I was looking to hang curtains in my apartment but didn't want to drill holes to cause damage, so I thought I would give these a try. I had low expectations, but was delighted how well they worked and how easy they were to install. They have worked great so far with black out curtains, very sturdy. I bought a few more for my other windows.
