A kind approach to quickly get a non-pulling dog
The essence of the book is teach your dog in a peaceful kindly way to stop pulling and to start paying attention to where you are headed and come along. One part is to stop when the dog pulls. If pulling just results in you standing still, the dog goes, "Oh, that's pointless," and quits. She also teaches kind sensible respectful ways to teach your dog to notice where you are going and come along willingly, with the aim being without a leash or in high traffic or regulated areas, with a loose leash. The author uses photos and clear interesting stories and descriptions to teach her techniques. A book to keep handy and read again and again. Each re-reading clarifies some nuance or idea that you may have missed on the first reading. The book is brief, but needs no further words. It is so well written that the author draws you along in what she's saying and leaves you eager to read it all again. At the end of the book I had a good grasp of the concept. She gently makes her information so interesting to the reader that you are interested in every word and want to follow along with her, every place she leads. This is what she is teaching us to do for our dogs...to make it fun to explore together and learn a new way of seeing things.

We tried many techniques; this was the only one that worked.
Thanks to this book, we were able to train our dog how to not pull on the leash. Months later, she's (almost) totally chill on walks, with makes the experience MUCH more pleasant for both of us. My only complaint is that the actual technique only takes up 2-3 pages, while the rest of the book is just filler, really. Still, worth it if you're having leash-pulling issues.

Excellent book
This is a very good training book. Not many pages but says it all. Tried the exercises straight away with instant results! The author's opinion regarding equipment to be avoided is eye-opening and her remark that anything at all that is used to cause pain or discomfort to the dog should be avoided. She doesn't comment or discuss e-collars but I expect they could be added to that category. If you've tried everything and your dog still pulls...get this book!

the wisdon of Turid!
i find all Turid's books to be highly informative, simple and easy to understand and they all make perfect sense. Her dedication to only positive training methods results in happy and well-trained dogs. She has a clear understanding of how the dog's mind works. She not only enables the reader to train thier dog, but explains how and why the dog behaves in the way it does, which gives the reader a better insight into training. She gives the reader simple instructions and a programme to follow to deal with the problem behaviour, as well as enabling the dog to learn a new and positive alternative behaviour. You do not have to be a behaviourist to achieve the desired results. I highly recommend her books as a resource for both trainers and the general public.
