Tough Prints, Clean Finish – SUNLU’s Black ABS Gets the Job Done
I recently started working more with ABS, and SUNLU’s Black ABS Filament has quickly become a standout choice for my projects. Right off the bat, the finish on this filament is impressive—sleek, crisp, and super clean-looking. Whether I’m printing functional parts or just experimenting with designs, the deep black gives everything a really polished, pro-level appearance.ABS can be a bit tricky to work with compared to PLA, but SUNLU’s version made the whole process surprisingly smooth. It extrudes evenly, holds dimensional accuracy really well, and once you get your temps dialed in, the prints come out solid with excellent layer adhesion. I ran it at around 230–250°C for the nozzle and about 90–100°C on the heated bed (with an enclosure to help control warping), and the results have been consistently great.Durability-wise, this stuff is tough. That’s one of the main reasons I reach for ABS in the first place, and SUNLU’s formula definitely delivers. It feels sturdy and reliable—perfect for parts that need to take a bit of abuse or heat.If you’re comfortable working with ABS or looking to get into it, I highly recommend giving this one a shot. With the right setup, it performs beautifully and adds a clean, pro look to any print. SUNLU’s Black ABS has definitely earned its place in my filament lineup.

Great quality ABS and high speed PLA
Sunlu ABS is one of my 'go to' filaments. It's great filament, that is very consistent from spool to spool. It is also a great value. I put it in the same consistent quality as polymaker, and overture. It prints just as well as Bambu filaments (I heard it may actually be the same filament as Bambu but I don't know if that is more rumor than fact), and Polymaker / Overture.Definitely stock up when on sale!

Layin' down layers!
As an avid 3D printing enthusiast, I have had the pleasure of using Sunlu ABS 3D Filament extensively in my projects, and I must say, it has been an outstanding experience from start to finish.Sunlu ABS filament sets a high standard for quality and consistency. The filament diameter is precisely calibrated, resulting in smooth and even extrusion. This level of accuracy ensures that my prints maintain their structural integrity and exhibit exceptional layer adhesion, producing clean and flawless surfaces. One of the most impressive aspects of this ABS filament is its excellent printability. With the right settings and proper bed adhesion, I have consistently achieved impeccable results. The filament's ability to handle intricate details and overhangs with ease allows me to tackle complex designs and create functional prototypes with utmost precision.Furthermore, the finished prints exhibit remarkable durability. Sunlu ABS filament is known for its strength and toughness, making it ideal for producing functional parts and mechanical components. It stands up well to stress and impact, giving my creations the robustness required for real-world applications.Another noteworthy characteristic of this ABS filament is its low warp tendency. Properly tuned print settings and a heated bed have helped mitigate warping issues, ensuring that my prints remain stable and distortion-free throughout the printing process. This feature is especially critical for larger prints or parts that demand high dimensional accuracy.I am also delighted with the wide selection of colors offered by Sunlu. The vibrant and consistent color options allow me to infuse creativity into my projects, making them visually appealing and engaging. Moreover, the filament comes neatly wound on a spool, ensuring tangle-free printing and convenient storage. The spool's robust design protects the filament from moisture and dust, preserving its quality over extended periods. From functional prototypes to artistic creations, Sunlu ABS 3D Filament has proven to be a reliable and versatile choice for my 3D printing needs. Its quality, printability, durability, and color options have set a high benchmark in the filament market. In conclusion, if you're looking for a top-tier ABS filament that consistently delivers outstanding results, Sunlu ABS 3D Filament is the way to go. Beautiful, easy to sand, not as strong as PLA+
Edit: after some trial and error, I have a clearer idea of what's up.I pushed my extruder temp up to 260, because the hotter I made it, the stronger the print would be. Now, don't everybody do this, because I have to raise hot end temp every time because of my direct drive setup. But I just don't think this filament is going to be as strong as some PLA+ filaments (especially the stuff from Filacube, which is amazing). I may have been spoiled by the elasticity and resiliance of those, and was unfairly critical on this stuff.Either way, the prints are beautiful and easy to sand. Just don't have thin walls.Original:I'm printing on a modified Ender 5, with an enclosure, full metal hot end, and direct drive extruder.I print with the hot end at 244 and the bed at 95. The air inside the enclosure gets up to 45 (I don't want to use a heater) which I know isn't ideal, but it helps. The big pro is that the prints are extremely easy to shape and smooth through sanding. The biggest problem I run into is bed adhesion. But, I'm lazy; I don't use any glues or sprays. I've got the best results using the magnetic bed that came with the Ender, SPECIFICALLY because it's all chewed up. Having scratches and gouges helps the plastic grab on, as long as I use brims. The other issue I've had is that the prints are brittle. Anything sub-2mm in thickness can be at risk. I wasn't expecting this, knowing how legendary ABS is supposed to be for strength. It could be because my printer can't create the ideal printing conditions.

Constant Issues – Wouldn’t Recommend
I’ve had nothing but trouble with this ABS filament. Not sure if I got a bad batch or what, but it’s been a frustrating experience from the start. I’ve used Bambu Labs’ ABS before with great results, so I don’t know if this is from a different supplier or just poor quality control. Layer adhesion was inconsistent, warping was nonstop, and even with a fully enclosed printer and dialed-in settings, prints kept failing. Switched back to Bambu’s and everything printed perfectly again. Definitely not buying this one again.
