I have tv without hdmi arc, and i have sound bar with hdmi arc and optical cable options, could this device allow me to connect my sound bar to tv?

Yes you would be able to connect the optical/SPDIF cable from the switcher to the sound bar. Sources to the switcher Hdmi output 1 to tv Optical to sound bar You may need to turn the audio down/muted on the tv so audio only comes out the sound bar and you don't have you audio doubling

trying to connect 1 macbook to 2 monitors with different content, will the 4x2 matrix work? or it just connect 1in to 2out with the same content

It would duplicate the content on both outputs.

Anybody have problems with the ir remote not working? i have 2 of these units and neither of the ir remotes that came with it work.

I had a similar issue at the beginning, it seems that my connections weren't properly connected. But so far for the past 8 months I have not encountered the issue anymore.

Will this unit support connecting a fire tv stick via arc hdmi to get dolby 5.1 sound to a soundbar and also relay picture to a tv via non-arc hdmi?

I can't get this switch to work with Amazon Fire Stick 4K Max (Input #1) and my Sonos Bean Gen 2 (Input #4) and speakerless 4K monitor (Output #1) -- the Sonos complains about "CEC not connected." Is there anyway to fix this?
