Learning about optics requires some simple equipment: a light and a lens. But there are several issues that need to be appreciated along the way, like the fact that light travels in straight lines; that light reflects off mirrors at particular angles; that images in mirrors appear to be at the same distance behind as they are in front; that curved mirrors reflect light in particular ways; that light refracts through transparent materials at particular angles; that lenses use this property of refraction to focus light in particular ways; That images formed by lenses have special properties and finally, that coloured light has some surprising properties when mixed together.All these principles are carefully explained with experiments in this kit using specialised equipment as well as explaining the mathematical equations that describe these phenomena.People from the age of 7 upwards will find these experiments interesting in their studies of optics.This kit is a worthwhile investment and comes with a very well illustrated book contaiing several chapters covering each of the topics both in theory and practice. There are no instructions on how to build the test rig but it shouldn't take long to work this out from studing the photographs in the booklet.Hightly recommended.

Great kit for home learning, quite expensive for what it is but really helped bring science to life for my child who is a hands on learner.

Bought this to help with science during lockdown. Bit disappointed with the quality, given the price. Accompanying book a bit dry and struggled to keep the interest of my 12 YO daughter

My daughter loves this. She is really interesting in any thing to do with science and this was a huge hit with her.She loved experimenting with the whole kit.It’s nice that it comes with a book that explains how to do different experiments. It makes it a lot easier for children to follow.It’s definitely a great buy.

Excellent kit - we homeschool and are using this as part of a science unit. The experiments are explained well and everything you need is included in the kit.
