This is an excellent aerator. Our pond is 1,000 gallons, 4 feet deep with 9 fish. Every fish has a name they are our special pets. For some reason, I tried the “cheaper” aerator a few years ago. The kind with 2 hoses and ball shaped stones. It always had minimal bubble output and this year when the stones were at the bottom nothing was coming out. I did replace the internal parts recently. It just doesn’t have the power that this one does. And the sinking hose is key, easy to tuck away out of sight. I gently dropped the stone into the middle of the pond and it landed nicely where it should. No draining of pond needed to install. And I will take the whole thing out for wintertime time as my understanding is that it is unhealthy to introduce cold wintertime air to the bottom of the pond. Our waterfall runs all year and that takes care of oxygen and not freezing over 100%.

Not good for an AZ Koi Pond, unless you can cover the aerator and it's in the shade. You need to cover it with some type of faux rock, like I have. I have it under a medium sized faux boulder, but the boulder is in the Sun all day. I have no shade around the perimeter of the pond, so the faux boulder and the pump are in the Sun half of the day. The pump will overheat and shut off to protect itself, but it will not stay running if it's 90° and Sunny out. The pump works great and the fish love swimming through the bubbles, but it's useless to me since I can't keep it running. Too bad. It's not a bad pump. I still gave it 4 stars because it's a great addition to a pond if you have it in the right environment. AZ is just too dang hot for it. Update: I found this wouldn't stay running for me since it is so hot in AZ and I can't relocate this in the shade. I ended modifying a Faux Boulder I got at Home depot with a cooling fan and a thermostatic switch. This work great. I have the sensor set to turn the fan on at 90°+-3°. See photos. I run this all year long for my pond that is about 3000-3500 gallons. We Live in zone 6B and we had a very hard winter this past year. The aerator was super easy to install, creates a lot of extra water movement and aeration for our koi, and was a perfect size. We did not have the pond freeze over at all this winter despite harsh conditions. We did not lose a single koi either and it was their first winter.

The aerator works well. It is keeping our pond water oxygenated for our koi.

Quality product !! Solid output . Very Quiet . Keeps our very new little pond so clean! Song Birds and raptors are not afraid . Dogs are not afraid to play around it in the water .
