Good, So Far — I Needed a Power Cord for a 2007 HP Laptop & Didn't Want to Spend Lots of $$$ On It!!
Okay so, for the record, the only reason I got this Belker 45w/65w Universal Laptop AC Adapter Power Supply Charger Cord because I needed some kind of power source for my old 2007 HP Pavilion laptop with Windows Vista which currently (and actually, since 2009-2010, when I’d last used that computer) has no battery and the power cord I’d previously used was totally frayed. Of course, I could’ve bought a battery. But, to be honest, I’d prefer to spend as little money as possible on this laptop (more on that in a bit!) and the fact is, even if I bought a battery, I would still need to also buy a charger, in order to recharge the battery. So, especially since this HP laptop is quite heavy, weighing over 6 pounds (6.14 lbs to be exact!), and I have several lighter devices (like my iPad and iPhone, among others!) that I can use if & when I’m “on the go”, I have no need to be mobile with this particular laptop. Accordingly, I decided to avoid the “double expense” and buy just an AC adapter and do without a battery for the time being. Initially, I’d planned to get BOTH a replacement battery and a power cord, even purchasing a prepaid $100 Visa Gift Card to buy the battery (because I was unable to find it on Amazon, Best Buy, NewEgg or other big-name retail sites and I worry about/am reluctant to use my actual credit card on the lesser-known or even unknown sites I found that carry a compatible battery) but ultimately, I didn’t go through with buying the battery, and just bought THIS Belker Universal Laptop Power Cord instead. Because, as mentioned, I got this AC adapter to use with my old 2007 HP Pavilion laptop, which I have NOT used (with *possibly* the exception of brief occasions when looking for a file/document or something) in the past 10-12 years or so, and barely, if ever even touched after switching to Apple/Mac products in 2012 with my iPad Mini, and 2013 with my MacBook Pro. Once I got the MacBook Pro for Christmas 2013, this HP laptop was pretty much put away in a closet, and left to gather dust, since, I no longer had any need to deal with all the hassles of Microsoft. Which is why, as I said, I’d prefer to spend as little money as possible on this Windows laptop since, to be honest, I HATE Microsoft, and Windows-based devices as well as Bill Gates (but that's a separate issue!) with a PASSION! Mainly since, prior to getting my MacBook Pro, pretty much EVERY computer I'd ever had going all the way back to Windows 3.1 in the early 90's, and MS-DOS before that, were PCs — and the truth is that, no matter what kind of computer I had (whether laptops, desktops or netbooks), and regardless of the brand (whether HP, Acer, Toshiba, Dell, Gateway, or some generic store brand like Proteva) or what Windows operating system it used (whether Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows Vista), it had nothing but problems. Literally from DAY ONE, there was constant screen freezing, system crashes, incredible slowness, viruses, spyware/malware/adware (despite anti-virus protection and anti-spyware/malware/adware software which just slowed down the system) and other issues. Even worse, not only were these computers "in the shop" what felt like ALL. THE. TIME — and yet, still coming back from repairs, with the same or more problems than before, but also, my Windows computers never seemed to last more than a couple years before becoming more trouble than they were worth. Meanwhile, most, if not every Apple user I spoke to kept saying how Mac computers were so much more user-friendly, and my own experiences using Apple/Macintosh computers in school from elementary through high school, further confirmed that. Which is why after getting my MacBook Pro, and seeing how much easier, it was to use, was even more proof of the superiority of Apple/Mac compared to Microsoft (or MicroSUCK as I often call it!) I decided I will NEVER, EVER buy a Windows-based PC or device again if I can help it or as long as I have any say in the matter — and became a total Apple/Mac fangirl. Over the years have either bought, or gotten as gifts, not only a MacBook Pro, but an iPhone, iPod Touch, Apple TV, iPad, iPod Classic, and Mac Mini. Like some people say, "Once you go Mac, you'll never go back!" Nevertheless, in hopes of being able to play some retro offline Windows games I've not played in years and that I missed playing, I recently dug my old 2007 HP Pavilion laptop out of the closet, and since it no longer had a battery (I’d taken out/disposed of the bad battery the last time I’d used it, and never bothered to replace it) and the power cord was too frayed to use, I bought THIS Belker Universal Laptop Power Cord not expecting that the computer would work to even power on, let alone actually "load up" & be usable...............yet to my complete surprise, the computer not only powered on, but actually loaded up the Windows Vista desktop and was/is relatively usable. Unfortunately, with that said, because the same problems that I’d always had with Windows (screen freezing, error messages, etc.) previously have persisted, I’m just using this Belker Universal Laptop Power Cord to power my HP laptop long enough to just transfer/back-up all the old files (photos, documents, etc.) after which I’m planning to either completely scrub/wipe the hard drive or swap it out for a new hard drive, and install Linux on the majority of the hard drive, while creating a small partition in which I’ll install Windows with just the bare minimum (just enough to run the OS, and a few offline games, but nothing more, like no “anti-virus” software [since I will NOT be taking this computer online] or other bloatware) just to run certain retro Windows games like that I’ve either NOT been able to find in a Mac version, OR those which the Mac version is not good. However, NONE of that is the fault of this Belker Universal Laptop Power Cord , which so far, has been working exceedingly well, though granted its only been a few weeks (I ordered it on August 8, 2022 and today is August 31, 2022). As such, I can NOT speak to the durability of this item. I also can NOT speak to nor its suitability for traveling because I haven’t gone anywhere out of town in YEARS (since 2015) first because my mom had a stroke in 2016, and as her primary caregiver, I couldn’t bear to leave her alone more than a few hours even BEFORE the pandemic began, — and due in part, to living with immune-compromised family members, I’ve barely even left my home more than a couple times (once to register for an absentee voter ballot for the 2020 election, once to run an errand at the post office, and once for a dentist appointment) in the 2+ years since the start of COVID-19. However, if the situation and condition of this power cord changes, I will come back to update this review. In the meantime, there isn’t that much else to say about it anyway. It’s a power cord and pretty much everyone knows what that is, and how to use it. This power cord comes with a Ziplock-type bag of different kinds of plug tips to connect to various brands and models of computers. Fortunately I only had to try a couple of the tips before I found the one that fit my laptop power port and IIRC lit up blue to show the power. Besides working really well, at around just $20, this Belker Universal Laptop Power Cord is also MUCH MORE reasonably-priced than the countless laptop power cords I remember buying during the late 90s, the 2000s, and early 2010s, (often having to spend about $100 or so a pop!), every time the power cord became too frayed to use. While the replacement power cords for my MacBook Pro are also pretty expensive (around $70-$80, IIRC) not only did Apple provide free replacement chargers during the 1 year warranty period as well as the 2-year extended “AppleCare” program, but even once that ended, Apple continued to replace the chargers for free, when they frayed, for a couple/few years more afterwards, which I NEVER had with ANY of my Windows PCs. Even when they were still under warranty, I was never given free replacement power chargers. Just yet another reason that I ❤️ Apple/Mac! All in all, I’m pretty satisfied with this power cord. Although it didn’t solve the inherent problems with my HP laptop (nor did/would I have expected it to!) it at least has allowed me to run the computer without having to waste a lot of money to do so. $20 is not that much relatively speaking, especially if it means having an entirely new computer (albeit an old one from 2007 that was only really used for a couple years) if/when I can convert it to Linux — and if I’m able to do so, I might even buy a battery to complement this Belker Universal Laptop Power Cord . But in the meantime, this is a good stop-gap measure, and I DO recommend this charger/power cord for anyone needing a cheap replacement power source for their laptop! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 STARS!!!!!!!
