I love these because the drain is just high enough off the bottom that the yeast will settle below the drain. This makes siphoning unnecessary. My only complaint was that after about 7 usees the lid on one of them started to have a slight air leak. I replaced the lid with a gamma seal lid that I drilled a hole in for the airlock. Now there are no more leaks and if it ever leaks again I just replace the o-ring on the gamma lid

Works really well, and the spout on the bottom was far more useful than I thought. I've used them on about ten batches, and they held up well. Spare washers would be appre.

I am using the bucket to pickle cabbage and having the spigot is essential, since I need to drain the brine and put it back on top every day for two weeks. I don't need to seal the lid. It looks to me as if one needed a thigh seal, it only works great one time. So for that reason, I find it expensive. For my purpose, I am looking forward to using this many, many times. Good quality plastic. Looks solid. Spigot not as much, but it can be replaced.

Absolutely the WORST buckets you could use for brewing wine. Do NOT use these to make alcohol. Not only are the lids one time use, the overall make of these is atrocious. The spigot does NOT seal and if you over tighten it, the cheap plastic begins to wear and crack. The way the holes are made in the lids for the airlock make zero sense and there is no way to clean or change airlock without every single gnat and fly getting sucked into the bucket. Please, save yourself the trouble and get the buckets from Ohio Homebrew or another brew specific online store. Don't cheap out like I did with these trash buckets and lose 2 large batches of wine.

Good double kit fermenters. I'm moving up from a 5 gallon fermenter so will be looking forward to the extra beer.

The bucket has the diameter as a standard 5 gallon buckets at the box stores. I would have liked one that was shorter with a wider diameter but that is just a preference. It is a very good bucket. The spigot is very well designed. It does not leak simply because it is designed not to leak! The spigot can be adjusted so as not to be below the bucket bottom while still not leaking! I have adjusted the spigot while fully filled with fermenting muscadines. Zero leaks!
