Happy Momma
I am now a fan of Andrew Bird, I found that I enjoy him immensely as he reminds me of my dad in his whistling and by chance I found his music just recently, actually after my dad died. So he is really meaningful to me and I wish to see him live one day. Also my little ones and I all enjoy his music. This particular CD was the 1st one I received then I ordered more, and now I find there is even more music. I like also that he puts his lyrics in the CD, I wish that I could've also got the Autozip mp3 as well, but I couldn't find this one from Amazon. The seller I did buy from was very prompt though so I was happy. I have been quite addicted to this.

Lyrical Genius
I have to admit, I first saw Andrew on Jack's Musical Show (singing 'Dr Strings'...and loved it!). I heard other songs and thought 'this guy's very, very good'. I regret waiting so long to order this, and there's others I'd like as well...have to get them soon! Andrew's lyrics almost make you feel left out of the inside joke; an anectdote that only he gets sometimes and leaves you wondering still, what the song is about. Maybe that's intentional so you can make up your own meaning (A Nervous Tic Motion). Even so, he is an accomplished musician and lyricist, and the songs you'll find humming in your head for no reason at all. 'Oh No' from Noble Beast was in my head the other day, so I just went with it! 'Fake Palindromes' is quaint, in a disturbing way but still a nicely done song. Overall, 'Eggs' is a strong album that you can play in the background and you don't realize it, but you're soaking it all in. Bravo, Mr. Bird...a fine album.

bring on the snacks
First off, there's no need for me to write a review b/c some woman named Erica from WA state did a review that's right on point, but I like the sound of my own voice, er, the sight of my own typing, so I'll add mine to the mix. I'd like to thank Sirius radio for introducing me to Andrew Bird - God knows he's too good to be played on commercial radio. My first impression of this CD was not good, I thought - does this dude sleep with a thesaurus under his cage-free, goose down pillow? who does he think he is with his $5.00 words? his lyrics are just a bit too precious, but then I listened to the music - over and over again (I can't stop listening to it) and I heard that goofy lyric about the snacks, and I thought - fantastic! I love snacks! this guy can't take himself TOO seriously, but his music is seriously great. All I can say is that his music is lovely, delicate, infinitely hummable and it grows on you like a soft, fuzzy moss. And even the a-bit-too-precious-lyrics gain appeal - thinking about getting licked by kittens is so so sweet. Listen to this 7 times and if it doesn't get under your skin, you can punch me in the stomach.

I love it
I love Andrew Birds music. This is one more to my collection of his album. The artwork of this album is beautiful. The song “skin,is my” mesmerized me and I can’t stop listening to it. When I heard “A nervous tic motion of the head to the left” playing, I felt both sad and illuminated, as if someone told me a the answer of an existential question that I can’t articulate through a simple song.Since the lyrics are ambiguous and filled with metaphors, Interpretation of them is like a journey into your own mind.

Instant Happiness
If I need a pick-me-up, this is the album I listen to. It starts off dreamy, then bobs back and forth between that and faster-paced half-dance-like tunes. I literally cannot pick which is my favorite track because they're all very good. Overall the almum holds together well, too. There's something soothing and funny about Andrew Bird's voice, and I can't help but smile when I listen to it. Not to mention the sheer variety of instruments you can hear when you really listen...it's easy to get lost in.

A Man of Many Musical Taste
This is "masterpiece", let's get that out there right now. I have the first Bird cd and I have been reading about him the last 5-6 years and decided to check this out. At first I wasn't terribly impressed. But after 3 full listenings and one in complete isolation, I almost cried it was so damn incredible. His musical background and musical loves are what make this thing unbelievable. I'm not going to go on and try and explain more, he's to detailed! Get it!

Playful and rich
This album really comes alive with repeat listens. Look up "Sovay" and you'll find that it refers to "traditional English folk song about a young woman who dresses as a highwayman in order to test her lover" (Wikipedia). Re-listening to the song in that context gives it another layer, but the richness and layers aren't needed to appreciate the gentle vocals, lilting whistling and healthy doses of violin. Track 3 ("A Nervous Tic...") is catchy enough that you'll find yourself whistling along. The rhymes (six rhymes in three lines, all matching "swapping your blood with formaldehyde" in "Fake Palindromes") and metaphor ("so we're taking all our myths to the bank") will keep bringing you back if the lush instrumentation doesn't.Like this album? Try listening to the Kings of Convenience--they're mellower but worthwhile.

Andrew Birds finest album.
I have decided to go back and review every purchase I have ever made on Amazon. Aparently this is the first. On May 10th, 2005, I purchased this album. It remains, 8 years later, one of my all time favorite albums. Mr. Bird has gained a ton of popularity since then but he has never released a better album. Buy this album for yourself, for a friend, for whoever. It is utterly fantastic and you wont regret it.
