Great Product - Sony BDP-CX7000ES
I purchased this product in November, 2011 from Amazon after much research such as reading reviews on Amazon and CNET of this and other similar products. I have over 600 dvd and was looking to consolidate my collection in one compact area. I am not that comfortable with technology, more of a late adopter. Let the manufacturers work the bugs out and watch the prices go down. I found this product easy to set up and was matched with a new Yamaha RX-671 receiver, also easy to set up. I followed the instructions that came with this product and started to load it. Gracenote, the dvd internet software was able to identify 98% of my collection. I like the units software to categorize my collection for easy retrieval and play. This is my first Blueray player and the picture quality is superb. This product is being discontinued and I am considering buying another unit to house the rest of my collection, but I will wait for the price to drop. I would strongly recommend this product and I gave it 5 stars. It's a winner.

Pleasantly surprised
I purchased this to replace an older Sony 400 disc changer. Other than the HD capability I was looking forward to the Gracenote database. This unit was substantially larger than my older changer but I had space for it. The build quality was much better and it was much quieter. I loaded it with 235 discs and about 40 of those were blu ray. The Gracenote service took a little less than two hours to label all but five. Three of them were specialty discs that I didn't expect to be in the database but one the other two was a current blu ray title "Brooklyn's Finest". That's an excellent percentage that I can live with. One of the complaints I've seen on other reviews is the low resolution of the cover art but on a big screen it's acceptable. Another complaint was about the lack of direct access to a particular disc, however the menu scrolls so quickly it was a non issue. I was impressed the most by the way it upscaled SD DVD's to 1080p. I've owned two other players that claimed to do this but this was the only one that delivered. A couple of years ago I had considered purchasing this for$1900 but it wouldn't have been worth it, but at $665 it was a good deal.

Although used it was almost like new. Very clean
Dealer shipped very quickly. Reached out to me on a Sunday to explain how to set the Remote command code to match the Changer. Instructions were in the manual but I wasn't holding down the BD button long enough. Although used it was almost like new. Very clean. Expensive but hard to find. I'll never understand why people want mp3's or streaming quality for their music and video. I have two of these for Blu-Ray changers (this plus dvpes960) and 5 DVD changers for my CD collection and all I have to do is pull up the menu's on my TV and press play to here Music or watch a movie. Update 6/20/2018 - Sony nor Gracenotes provides support for these changers any longer so as a result they do not update the titles or jacket art when loading the changer. When loading a newer Blu-Ray disc, you are likely to get an "invalid disc" message or a "cannot read disc" message. Sometimes it will load a newer disc but give you the message when you try to play it. Older Blu-Rays will load but you must manually enter the data. Gracenotes does still update CD's when loaded into the changer with data and picture art so it is a matter of either company not wanting to support Blu-Ray functionality for these changers.

Why does Sony want this product to be expensive?
I want a media playback solution that I don't have to constantly swap out discs or pay month for poor quality video. the obvious solution is to rip discs on to a hdd/ssd and playback with a media player. We know Sony does not like people ripping discs which we know because we have seen them go as far as putting root kits on their discs to stop people from ripping them. I don't want to spend money on drive space and spend time ripping when the data is already on a disc . The best solution for both me and sony is a device where I can insert my disc and they are stored, indexed and accessed. There is this device but it is nearly 3k. If this was a few hundred dollars and had a GUI like Plex, I think alot of people would buy it and it would make ripping less reasonable

Very nice, but needs a Wireless Internet connection built in
I like this unit very much, but it takes a LONG time to power up (needs to load all of the DVDs or something) and it should have a built in WiFi connection. It's stilly for me to have to hardwire it or go our and buy another piece of equipment just to hook it up to the Internet so that the DVD graphic art loads. That is a real pain in the neck. But other than that, the machine functions well and we have it hooked up to a Sony DH810 receiver and we're very happy with it.

Works great so far
Having read some of the other reviews, I was a bit concerned about buying this unit. We have 2 400 disk DVD changers and a 400 disk CD changer and like the concept and the format. The Blu-Ray seems to be that next logical step. So far it has worked well and is easier to use than our prior changers. I have no real interest in hooking it to the net as we just run a spreadsheet with all of the disks and where they are. So, my summary is it works, it was easy to setup and so far so good.

When there are product defects like the ones experienced by Sony customers
Our player no longer recognizes and plays Blu-ray discs. We purchased the player new in 2011 and had to send it in for repair for this problem. The company had difficulty obtaining the parts needed for repair. The repair lasted several months and then we had the same problem again. Following packing instructions for sending the player in for warranty repair cost us $100 plus for shipping only. Not sure if I'm willing to spend the time to remove the discs and the money for shipping the product back. When there are product defects like the ones experienced by Sony customers, Sony should step up to the plate and pay for shipping costs.
