Pathfinder RPG: Advanced Player’s Guide (P2)

I purchased both the special edition and the normal version, as I had planned to use the normal books for more wear and tear of standard play and keep the leather bound version mostly for display. This makes it seem rather ironic when the standard edition arrived pre-torn, with an inch long deep gash torn through the bottom of the book's spine. The box it arrived in, along with the leather bound edition, were all in perfect condition, and they both were shipped in the same box, so it wasn't the shipping or handling that damaged it.

Very impressed with the size of the book. Full of new classes, ancestries and heritages, feats, items, spells. This is probably my favorite additional purchase for Pathfinder 2E and I'm definitely making some NPCs for my game out of this book. Being a fan of cats, I'm obviously going to make a catfolk character first.

This supplement is absolutely chock-full of amazing, creative character build options for 2nd edition. Archetypes - from old favorites like the Dragon Disciple and Eldritch archer - to new, exciting fare - like the Acrobat and Talisman Dabbler - there are endless ways to customize exactly the type of character you want. Add to that the new ancestries (Catfolk, Kobolds, Orcs, Ratfolk, and Tengu) and *full* new classes (Investigator, Swashbuckler, Oracle, and Witch) along with the many background and versatile heritage options, and it's just plain overload! The book is absolutely essential for GMs and players looking to take their P2E experiences to the next level!

This is really a "More of everything you could want" for characters. Everything is really well put together. Great new character options. Whether you prefer to build a character just for battle or to role play social encounters, this book has something for you.

Arrived in just one day and wasn't damaged at all. This book is an excellent add on for those who want more options for their characters be it either spells, classes, or ancestries. I'd also note that this book does contain new ancestries however those ancestries are also in the Ancestry Guide you can purchase. So if thats all your after I'd save your money and just get that. However although this has some ancestries that are also in that book this one does provide a couple different heritages and feats for those ancestries.

Just like the core book, the organization is, like the core book, second to none. The new options and spells are very balanced, as a GM I would allow all material presented in here without blinking and eye because of that.

May as well be a players handbook, new ancestry's and classes. Additional feats for the original ancestry in the core book. For a Pathfinder game there is a lot to love in this book. Very solid addition to the line.

Great system , great book, now just to find people to play it with. I’ve never seen such brand loyalty to d and d since critical role came out . Why can’t we play both guys?

Anyone who has tried Pathfinder 2nd edition knows that the characters are fully customizable, allowing even a party composed of the very same class to have different purposes and complement each other.The Advanced Player's Guide goes beyond that - WAY beyond. By using new feats, new spells, new races, new archetypes - including some fully dedicated to skils - and more, a player can build, maybe not ANY possible character, but sure enough an unbelievable amount of them. Literally free to mix and match, players can create anyone, from a humble but knowledgeable medic to something akin to the Avatar of a Divinity.Does that mean that it is the perfect companion to a perfect game? Alas, NO. While the rules and addenda are extremely versatile, the graphical aspect is, for lack of better terms, sorely lacking - something that was already apparent in the Monster Manual: quite a few of the new races have a look that isn't exactly enticing, as it were, particularly the kobolds, usually my favorite race, that in this new version, rather than pocket sized lizardkin, look like demonic slices of cake that somehow grew a body.So, for short: the book's content is truly worth it - just don't mind the art.

I used to be a huge D&D nerd, but going back to it recently it felt like it had lost something. 5e D&D doesn't do it for me, and I gotta say even going on 20 years ago when I got into Icewind Dale, the computer game, that it had this over-earnest, twee kind of quality to it that for me was a huge turn-off. Reading Pathfinder though, it has so much that makes *sense*. Golarion is so much grittier and I dunno, all round better than D&D's setting. I love it to bits. I've ended up buying the Advanced Players' Guide and the bestiary too. It's just *so* good.

I love this new edition. Pathfinder has evolved beyond its D&D 3.5 roots. There’s a real balance of fun & threat here. There is no rolling for attributes any more which means you have loads of options which feels as though they impact your character. This may make it tricky in terms of de colonising the system, but just remember its fantasy kids & we can adapt what we want.My group is a mix of crusty old grogonards & hip young things who have just started playing. All have taken to it like butter to toast 👍🏻

It a lot lighter than expected. But it does have a lot for character build. This book has everything for players to go on adventures. I reccommend it.
