Perfect addition
The TG cameras this is built for do great close ups, so close that you really need good lighting. This light does a perfect job. It’s low-profile so that it doesn’t interfere with your ability to get close to your subject and the light is reliable and even illumination. You can keep it attached to the camera full-time if you like and you hardly know that it’s there. Definitely a good buy.

Great little but powerful addition to Tough
This device should receive some kind of industry design award. It channels the builtin flash light to an even ring of LEDs for close up purpose. Must have if you plan to take a lot of macro close up photos. All the instructions listed in amazon assumes you know how to remove the lens mount on the camera so it was never mentioned. The full instruction to mount the Macro ring is as follow: 1. Take your camera, put both of your thumbs on the two side of the lens mount (the ring that has a red dot on it). 2. Turn counter-clockwise 1/4 turn until you feel the mount is released. 3. Remove the lens mount. 4. Position the macro ring on the lens by aligning the white dot on the micro ring to the white dot (7 o'clock position) on the lens. Turn clockwise until the macro ring intake cover the flash. 5. Switch on your camera and turn the dial to the macro mode. 6. Press down arrow on the OK dial and go to flash setting. Select the LED on setting. 7. Take the camera facing you, press on the shutter release and you can see the macro ring lights up. You are all set then. Enjoy. . camera iton) lower right camera ote t.

Effective Circular Ring Light (light guide)
I used this ring light (light guide) on the Olympus TG-4, and it gives a nice even illumination for close-up photos. There is sometimes a significant flare in some parts of the photo, but this can usually be avoided with some movement of the camera. It is too bad that Olympus does not give decent instructions with the light. This would appear to have avoided a lot of problems for some users. A lot of poor reviews here appear to be due to the users not using the ring light correctly. For instance, some users keep the flash turned on and think that the ring light should somehow disperse the light from the flash. Instead the flash should be turned off and the LED setting should be turned on so that the ring light lights up when the camera is in the Macro mode. Here are some youtube video links to show you how to use the light: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GC9b6B42UlI and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nNone545OkA. Some of the reviewers here also nicely describe how to use the ring light. As a sidelight, the light is not very bright so it can be overwhelmed by a bright light like sunlight. Then I might use my Nikon camera with a macro lens and Nissan Ring Light which gives a nice bright light.

A necessity for macro
This light guide has improved my macro so much that I don’t know if I could go on without it. I will let the images included with this review attest to what this light guide can do. All the images presented are taken using microscope mode, some of them using focus stacking. The first image is of a paper towel laid flat on a table and zoomed in, and the camera was literally resting on top of it. Without this light guide, this image just wouldn’t be possible because it’ll be dark due to the camera being up against the subject, unless you have a setup with backlighting and a glass table. Being able to get so much closer to a subject and having ample light provided by the light guide is where I believe this product truly shines. The second image is of a table cloth, third is of a plant leaf, and finally the last image is of human hair, where you can see the direction the hair was cut at the ends. I’m having a good amount of fun especially with the discovery aspect of being able to examine a myriad of things with macro, and this light guide really aids in that endeavor.

Provides even light; ingenious design
This accessory is worth every penny providing even lighting for professional macro and microscope modes on the TG-1, TG-2, and TG-3. I'm using this with my TG-3 for microscopic shots of animals, plants, and materials. One issue are that while compact, it is slightly bulky causing some minor interface with the Olympus neoprene case I use, but it still fits. I keep it on the camera at all times so I always have the option to use it. The other issue is that it causes a ring reflection in the eyes of small animals, for example lizards. It's not a design flaw, but it's just not what we are used to seeing in photos because it is an innovative design.

You need it
This came with no instructions for how to put it on or activate it. It was easy to figure out how to attach (and very simple to put on and remove). It took a google search to figure out how to set up the camera to use it (enable LED in the camera settings, then set the flash to this guy). I still want to know if it's waterproof, there was and is no indication. It works well for macro jewelry and gem photography. In macro, if you place the camera centimeters away from the subject, you are likely to be shading it with the camera. This light takes care of that little issue. It's pretty much mandatory for this camera, which develops intolerable noise above ISO 400. It handles outdoor full-sun subjects fine, but even when shooting in a light box you'll need this to be able to shoot at a low enough ISO to produce a quality image.

Really great ring, does exactly what it should. Makes macro images so much better. It says it's not waterproof which is a shame, and the material does feel somewhat plastic fantastic.

Llego muy rápido y en excelentes condiciones. Muy útil para iluminar las fotos cuando hay poca luz o quieres hacer tomas muy cercanas. Es mejor utilizarlo con la lámpara led que como flash, ya que con este pierde calidad la foto.

I just received this item and am extremely pleased with it (TG-7). For those who say it won't fit your camera, remove protective ring on camera first. For those who say it doesn't work properly, turn off your flash and turn on your LED. There are plenty of YouTube videos that explain how to use it. I am very happy.
