WARNING: Must Only Use Bosch or Bosch Licensed X-LOCK Products
"!WARNING Only use Bosch or Bosch licensed X-LOCK accessories. Incompatible accessories may not clamp properly resulting in personal injury and/or property damage." Source: accompanying manual under section Assembly. Buying this model means you are locked into Bosch's ecosystem and you cannot use off-the-shelf products, e.g. sanding pads. I did not realize this until I read the manual before even turning the unit on when I determined the unit's attachment did not match my 3M pads that I ordered simultaneously. I immediately returned the unit without even plugging it in.

Capable Tool
I liked everything about it. It's powerful, easy to use, and is an effective tool overall. The "x" system is a sweet design which makes fast disc changes a breeze. Just make sure you buy the proper "X" discs for Bosch system. I've cut metal bolts with it, and 1/4" thick porcelain tiles with ease using the appropriate discs of course. Use eye and ear protection for best results. Its a powerful tool that shouldn't be taken lightly. It's not hard to injure oneself with this capable tool.

X-Lock is a game changer for pros.
Bosch advertises Xlock as being 5x faster than a regular arbor. That is completely untrue, it's much faster than that. It takes 2-3 seconds to swap a disk with Xlock vs 30-45 seconds with a conventional arbor, and that's not including the time it takes to find the wrench. I used to carry 3 grinders with me on steel jobs, one with a cutting disk, one with a flap disk, and one with a wire cup. It would take too much time to swap disks with a regular grinder so I needed all 3, now I can bring one with different disks and a little die grinder. If you are a home gamer building bird houses in your garage I can see it maybe not being up your alley because of the extra up front cost, but for any pro it's well worth it. Aside from Xlock the grinder itself is very nice. Great power for a smaller grinder and the guard adjustment is fantastic. A couple of downsides. It's not variable speed, and the fit and finish is not as good as Bosch's German and Hungarian made tools (it's made in China).

Proprietary nonsense....
The device itself is good. The concept it good, but your options for consumables makes this pointless. If you go through a lot of consumables then you will be wasting money...if you don't go through a lot of consumables then why do you need to save 30 seconds? This is "printer ink" marketing...nothing more.

Easy and Quick wheel change.
I used a cordless cutting tool for years until the battery stopped holding charge. After checking price of the replacement battery I decided to try a corded unit from a brand that I trust. Halfway through the first cut through the tool-grade SST bar I realized what I have been missing all these years. BEASTLY POWER. This is a great cutting and grinding tool for almost price of a rechargeable tool battery.

This is an amazing multi-purpose power tool. Really solid build, great safety features (for a relatively unsafe concept of power tool). The paddle action is very intuitive and easy to use even with work gloves, but also has a lock-on button at the bottom for longer work. And the fact that theres no battery to fail means it should last a long long time. The 13amp motor with variable speed control makes it applicable for so many more applications that a fixed standard speed would rip apart. And because it's got great cooling built it for higher intensity use cases you'll be less likely to burn out your motor that by trying to use a smaller router for more than it's build for. Strong enough to cut rebar, but using a straight cutting disc, the lower speeds are also great for cutting rigid plastics, or buffing and smoothing larger objects with a softer disc. If you get one of the x-lock to standard attachment adapters, there are lots of oddball attachments you can find out there that will work better with the variable speed - you could even be creative, build a mount, and turn it into a poor mans table router or saw. And if it jams, or kick-backs it has a auto shut off so you won't be crippled for life (probably).

Pretty sweet little grinder , got a bit of a sale. Not exactly going to see heavy use but working really well so far. Don't forget to buy an xlock adapter too.

Let me start by saying I am a Dewalt guy... if I own a tool that isn't Dewalt, it's because (1) I bought it eons ago, (2) my limited use of the specific tool can't justify spending the extra money (ie. scroll saw), or (3) I can't get what I am looking for with Dewalt. The Skil grinder I owned fit category #1: it had been well over a decade since it was purchased. A few months ago, while cutting through some metal, the grinder kicked back so hard that the cutting disk wrapped itself around the t-shirt I was wearing... it also gave me quite a nasty slice, though in hindsight it could have been much, much worse. I quite despised that grinder... so I was hardly heart broken when, about 6-8 weeks ago, it died in the middle of a wood sculpting project. Bye, bye! I borrowed my neighbour's 20v Dewalt cordless to finish the job. It worked significantly better, however the more I worked with sculpting the wood, the more I realised that a grinder with variable speed would be much better for my needs. Further, the Dewalt cordless chewed through batteries in breakneck speed and still had quite a powerful kickback. I began the hunt for a corded, variable speed grinder. It turned out more challenging than expected. You see, once a variable speed option is added, the price point correspondingly skyrockets That's when I came upon this Bosch. Though I had never previously used/owned a Bosch product, this had everything I wanted at a price I was willing to spend. So I clicked the "Buy It Now" button. Having used it thus far for sculpting and sanding on live edge hardwood (to make bowls, cut out a 'river' for epoxy in a table top, etc.), I am obliged to share that this grinder is leaps and bounds above any other I've used. It's comfortable to hold with a well-balanced weight. The trigger and paddle switch are ergonomically placed. Moving the safety guard is quick and simple. The cord is quite long. The variable speed works flawlessly. When using X-lock, changing the disks are ridiculously easy and fast (I'll speak more on this below). And, when I was using an over-aggressive sculpting disk that bit the hardwood significantly enough to cause kickback, the tool immediately shut off... so zero worries about me getting another injurious chomp from a grinder. I absolutely love this tool. At the time of purchase, my one hesitation was the X-lock... essentially, this unit is designed to only accept X-lock disks that are produced solely by Bosch. Though I didn't like the possibility of having to buy more expensive disks (which they are not, by the way), I needed a grinder that could use wood sculpting disks, something not available for X-lock. Thankfully, a fellow reviewer on this item mentioned the availability of a third party adaptor that would allow use of any disk with the X-lock Bosch. Though that reviewer noted the size of the adaptor forced to disk beyond the safety guard, making it unsafe, my search on Amazon revealed a newer model of the adaptor that was shorter and stronger. Once again, I clicked the "Buy it Now" button. The adaptor works perfectly for my sculpting disks on the X-lock Bosch grinder, and does not stick out beyond the guard. As for other disks, like a 40 grit sander, I purchase the Bosch X-lock... and absolutely love the quality, the ease of use, and the quick changeability at a price point that works. The final word: this is a fantastic grinder that is comfortable, safe, and offers variable speed control... it is worth every penny I paid.
