Easy to cut, nice and strong

Bought these as a temporary fix to cover up exposed gripper pins from badly fitted / poor quality carpet. I slotted these under the existing carpet transition strip. No more toes caught on sharp pins! The Good: Straight aluminium strips with protective film on top side. Pre-drilled holes. Easily cut down with hacksaw. Protective film peels off easily, without leaving residue. Delivered in robust tube. The poor: Only supplied with 5 screws per doorway. Screws are soft and it’s easy to strip the head, which I did. Pre-drilled holes might not line up properly for your door, needing you to cut twice. Tips: Check where fixing holes are before cutting. A fixing against the doorway edge can be tricky and will probably result in a stripped thread. If clamping a thick carpet + underlay, as in my case, angle the screw slightly to result in a flat finish when it’s clamped. Just press down on the strip firmly with your hand to see what I mean. The aluminium does form to the screw head, so you should end up with a flush screw, but it’s not forgiving if the screw is off angle. Final tip, have some spare screws on hand, I had some in the bottom of a toolbox that did the job.
