Affordable, dependable
Been using this every day for OVER THREE years now and it's still going strong. Easy to clean the reusable filters, easy to install, very professional looking, and easy to operate. My only criticism is the clock disappears when you turn on the fan function (so you don't know what time it is if the fan is actually on). Very affordable, but the CFM is kind of low -- so if you have a big range or cook super oily stuff it might be too weak

Gorgeous, efficient, and quiet- thumbs up
We've had our range hood installed for about 2 weeks now and are very happy with it! It works much better than the old model it replaced (no idea on CFMs or age of that thing but it was time for a replacement, ha). This thing is also BEAUTIFUL which was a big selling point for me. I love that it has buttons only and no digital clock or touch pad... less potential for malfunctions down the road, plus I already have digital clocks on my microwave, coffee maker, and oven all within a foot of each other and this range hood... I can't tell you how glad I am not to have an extra clock to reset every time the power goes out lol. This is very quiet on the first setting, still relatively quiet on medium, and creates a decent bit of noise on the highest setting but you are moving a lot of air at that point so I think it's well in line with what I'd expect for the performance. Suction has been impressive to me on all settings, and we haven't had any issues with rattling. It isn't heavy as far as these things go, but it was still a bit of a beast to install as DIYers just because of the nature of the item and location you're putting it (my husband and I did this while I was 8 months pregnant so it's quite doable for the DIY crowd, just not EASY). Definitely recommend two people for install if you're not a pro, and using the box and styrofoam packaging to prop it up while you work helps a lot. Oh and as some others mentioned- yes, it was a pain to peel off the protective film but it was totally worth it to me to have a product that is in pristine shape and undamaged, I peeled while watching TV and it was fine. In the end I'm very happy with the item and would recommend!

UC30 works well
I initially ordered the UMC30, which has an electronic control panel. The control panel was overly complicated to use, and it required 2 or 3 well-timed button presses to get the fan onto the Low setting. Then, when you shut it off, it counts down from 1 minute to shutdown. You have to hold the button to shut it off immediately. Also, the UMC30 buttons provide no tactile feedback, which makes them a bit more confusing to use. Some people might say "you need a PhD in engineering to use this." Yeah, well, I do in fact have a PhD in engineering, and I thought it was a nuisance to use. I sent back the UMC30 and ordered the Cosmo UC30 instead. The UC30 has analog controls that are very easy to use. We installed the UC30 in our kitchen. It looks good, it draws a lot of air, and on the Low and Medium settings it isn't too loud. I do have two gripes about the UC30: 1. As with most range hoods, there are two flaps on the top that open when you turn it on. However, if you use the Cosmo-provided flexible duct, the flaps get caught on the duct and don't close properly when you turn off the fan. I ended up discarding the Cosmo duct and using some round ducting that I bought separately on Amazon. 2. On the High fan speed the filters rattle quite loudly. I solved this by adding some adhesive-backed felt to hold the filters in place securely. All in all, I think the digital UMC30 is annoying to use, but the analog UC30 is quite nice.

Love it
Love my new cosmo vent above my stove. It was recommended to me by my cabinet maker. It’s nice and quiet and works well.

Love it!
We just bought this to replace an old under-cabinet microwave (our house had a vent to the roof installed, just not connected). We were debating whether to go with this model, or the all digital model that came with a remote. The reviews were substantially better with this unit (the all digital had electrical component issues it seemed). We are VERY happy with the final result. It still is partially digital, and has elegant buttons instead of clunky knobs. It looks amazing in our new kitchen remodel. This unit requires three prong outlet (not hardwired). The vent comes out of the top of the unit, although it does come with flex tubing, so you could route it back after it routes into the cabinet, though that would probably be less than ideal. It has an automatic damper already in the unit that opens and closes when you turn it on and off. It came with 6 screws and screw supports for installation, which would have probably been fine, but for the extra support, we used locking bolts. Pros: Looks high end...definitely a centerpiece. Works VERY well Cost is very reasonable compared to other models we shopped Easy to use Straightforward installation. Did I mention it looks amazing? Cons: The highest setting is a little loud, but we would only need to use that setting in extreme circumstances. Very happy with the choice we made. If I had the purchase to do over again, I would.

Warning: This hood has a Plastic motor that can’t handle the average heat of a cooking stove!
I’m not happy. Not at all. This was a bad purchase. One installed and in use, we noticed the fan would vibrate violently when in use over a stove while cooking. It’s a plastic fan that has blades that warp when exposed to heat. Let that sink in: the hood makes a loud vibrating noise that shakes the actual cabinets on either side of the hood because the plastic motor becomes flexible due to the average heat from the stove. Isn’t this piece of junk made to handle heat, smoke and steam? Obviously not. I called their customer service and got through to no one. I emailed and got someone’s attention. I am now waiting for a replacement motor, but I’m skeptical. Oh, and guess who has to install the new motor? Yours truly. The worst part was the attitude of their customer service. They insinuate that you as the consumer are to blame. They told me my hood must be mounted too low. It isn’t. I mentioned my discovery that with the first cleaning (using the recommended cleaning products and methods) I saw the printed indicators for the control buttons were starting to rub off. This is all happening after just a few months. The person literally responded with “sorry your printed indicators are rubbing off because of grease. Make sure to take note of their functions so you can remember when they completely rub off.” Really. I’m so aggravated with this stupid thing - it can only run on low speed, otherwise the vibration makes it untenable. Like one of those old corvette kit cars that you put over a VW beetle chassis, this hood looks fantastic but it’s got a crappy, under powered, noisy motor. AVOID THIS PRODUCT.

excellent for the price and quiet enough to actually use
I wanted something quiet enough that I would use it, easy enough to clean, real buttons vs a touch screen, less than 400cfm so I wouldn't have to deal with makeup air, and a finished range hood that wouldn't need me to build or pay for a custom range hood cover. Since I was also switching to an induction range I didn't feel the need for massive CFM like a high powered gas range may require. It was frustrating that most companies seem to equate quality with having a touch screen vs buttons. My wife hates touch screens and I have no particular love for them. There are likely better options out there if you're fine spending over $1000 with Wolf or Fantech, but the 30 inch cosmo stainless steel range hood has been well worth the $220 I paid for it last year, with LED lighting, baffle filters, and real buttons, one for low, medium, and high speed, along with one for the lights and other to turn off the fan. I did 6 inch rigid ductwork sealed with foilmastic butyl duct tape. I would have gone wider than 30 inches but the 30 inch model perfectly my cabinets in the space that had held my 1980s Braun recirculating range hood. As it is I usually get great performance on low and rarely need to even go to medium speed. Of course having an induction range means I'm mostly removing cooking fumes and moisture vs much of anything actually burning. The fan isn't silent, but I've only been in one person's house with a quieter range hood and they were very proud of it. The fan noise is just enough to cover the occasional hum of the induction stove when boiling pasta.

Looks good but lacks top quality construction
Observations noted in regards to other reviews: The clock display is in 12h time not 24h time. The blue protective plastic is there for a reason. Just take your time taking it off. Unfortunately, the instructions didn't say to disassemble the light section to remove the blue protective layer there. If you don't, removing the blue layer will be a nightmare and make the unit look cheap with small fragments everywhere. What's really sad is that some areas that need protection don't have any protection. One area that needed protection is the display. You'd think that would be the one area that would have it to prevent scratches. The LED light is on the whiter side, maybe closer to 5000K in color. The light could be a little brighter, but it's enough to see the entire cooktop. The fan always starts at fan speed 3. You'd think that it would start in fan speed 1 so as not to scare you, but nothing doing, there seems to be a lack of common sense here. Also, when using the touch controls, you must press and hold the power button for about 2 seconds to wake up the system, then pick what you want to happen. Be it the fan or light. When you press the power button to turn off the fan, its starts counting down for 1 minute, which is great. Press it on more time to turn it off immediately. It would make really good sense if you could just press fan or light to get to those functions directly, but you can't. You have to press the power button for 2 seconds again then press the function button you want. Slightly irritating logic there. INITIAL IMPRESSIONS: After receiving the vent, I opened it and took a quick look at it and tried it out. This is the video that was shot recording the different fan speeds and sound levels. The phone is very close so it is much louder than it really is installed. But take notice of the motor "hum". Looking at the vent I noticed that a motor mounting screw was installed incorrectly. So I reinstalled all of the screws and made sure everything was mounted correctly, but the humming didn't get any better. While pressing on parts of the housing, I noticed that the humming would be slightly diminished depending where I pressed. 1st red flag. The metal it was made out of also seemed thin and flexed quite a bit but was well protected. So I decided to go ahead with the install anyway. On install day, I took the vent out of all of the packing and what I found was interesting. A dimple on the front of the vent and a dented side panel towards the back of the vent. All of these sections were hidden under the Styrofoam packing which wasn't damaged one bit. The packing box was in excellent condition so I can only assume that the vent was damaged at the factory. So much for quality control. The metal was so thin that I could just push the panel from the inside and correct the dent. No special tools, just my fingers. The dimple was on the crease so there was no correcting it, but it didn't look that noticeable so I let it go. Red flag number 2. The installation was straight forward and by the included instructions, which by the, is not very detailed. After completing the installation, the hum was very noticeable and kind of irritating. I pressed on different sections and found a spot that made it slightly quieter and inserted a piece of foam between the cabinet and top of the vent. The hum is very noticeable on fan speed 1, so I'm thinking that the motor is of a lower quality. I also noticed this type of thing on cheap window AC's when running on low versus higher speeds. The vent housing essentially becomes a resonating chamber amplifying the sound even louder. A little sound dampening material would have gone a long way. The blower assembly itself creates some vibration as the fan is not well balanced, but this vibration doesn't seem to get transmitted to the surrounding areas. Other than the hum, the air flow and sound created is pretty quiet on low. On the second speed, the grease filters create a very slight whistling sound. The vent sounds great without the grease filters. My guess on this is that the way the air has to go through the vent is the cause. FINAL THOUGHTS: After using it for a while, is it worth the $200+ price, maybe. If the metal was a little thicker and the manufacturer paid closer attention to proper testing of operational noise, definitely! The touch panel programming could be improved. It's a nice looking unit and removes a great deal of air, so functionality is very good. Hopefully I was able to provide some useful information toward your purchase and maybe to the manufacturers.

Decent vent for the price
Decent product for the price, suction from the vents could be better and lights are not the brightest, I guess that's what you get with more expensive hood vents. All in all it is decent, hopefully it lasts a long time.
