Yes, but it is important to first pour in boiling water to heat the unit up and then place your hot food inside. If not, the soup added will lose too much heat to the container itself and then maintain that reduced temp. I’ve scalded my tongue eating soup at 130pm that I placed in at 730am with this technique.

This will fit on top of the lunch bucket but it’s the short version of their thermoses. There is a longer one that is the entire length of the top lid of their lunch bucket.

What're the disadvantages if i use it for coffee or tea instead of food?

Difficult to pour coffee or liquid from this without dribbling, and I've tried. I use a standard Stanley with narrower top and pour thru cap for coffee, much easier to pour into cap or cup without dribble, and conserves heat by not removing cap. This one will dribble if trying to pour liquids, but it still has its place with wide mouth for spoonables or soup.
