Plastic Shuffleboard Court Stencil (EA)

does require some cutting and taping, paint tends to draw under the untaped edge if you try to paint with this stencil as a shield. We learned to draw the pattern and then tape the lines, then lay the template back down and spray it lightly with a series of coats so that the paint does not build up enough to leach under the tape.

I liked this stencil but you can’t use it with a brush. The stencil is paper thin and can move on you even when taped down. It’s good for size and layout but not easy to paint with. It’s also expensive for how thin it is.

The stencil arrived with some of the cut edges curled up so it was difficult to get it to lay flat. Gave up on trying to get the lines to lay flat so just traced them in pencil and then taped them for painting. Couldn't tape the numerals due to so many rounded edges so tried to push the stencil flat with weights. Still got a lot of bleed under that had to be repairs. Perhaps if I had used caulking the bleed under might have been stopped but not sure it was flat enough to give me a crisp edge. I suspect whatever strategy is tried, one should expect to require a lot of fine touch up to get crisp edges on the lines and numerals.

Works as expected.

This gave me a good idea and I used it but the materials were too rigid. A heavier and softer material would have been much better.

I was not anticipating how thin and flimsy the plastic was.
