The spade and long handle used together gives the reach to enable timber to be cut and stripped overhead then left in the air to leaf dry during the summer months before logging up. For this purpose it's ideal. Strong and unbendable. Definitely recommend this HD version. For taking off the entire bark of a log in one piece (for harvesting bark for woodland crafts etc) you'd be much better buying a Morris Bark Peeler or similar.
