Great Apron Pattern
This is a very clever pattern. The instructions are well written, clear, and not ambiguous. It is printed on thick, good quality white paper, which you can happily dry iron to make it smooth before using for cutting out, unlike Style Arc patterns which transfer all the ink from the paper pattern to your ironing board cover & iron faceplate (don't ask!).My only niggle would be the wording for the fabric quantity required. You are in effect making 2 aprons, stitching two identical pieces, an inner and an outer together, once stitched on the wrong side and then turned through, the raw edges are hidden. So, to my mind, the instruction for fabric quantity should state "Main fabric quantity" and "lining fabric quantity" to make it easy to order either all of one fabric or, to swap it up & make a contrast lining. This is confused further by an internet search saying "makes with only 2 meters of fabric" if you are waiting for the pattern to arrive. This will only make half your apron. I digress, this is a small issue, but be aware you need approximately 2 meters of fabric for the outer and a further 2 meters for the inner, unless you move up to larger sizes that obviously will require more fabric. This is an enjoyable sew. I made a toile in calico first to check the sizing and got a bit carried away pimping it up with blue hearts & some machine embroidery, I have been wearing this for cooking and it is soft and comfortable. I am a size 10 UK, sometimes an 8 UK. I made the small and am happy with the sizing. I then moved on to make an apron to wear when I am sewing and knitting to keep me clear of fibres & fluff, I lined this with plain red fabric and used it on the pockets too. Finally, I made a fully reversible version in green floral with pink to wear in the kitchen, I swapped out the backs to the opposite colours and made 4 different pockets. I shall be making more of this pattern, but am having a rest after 3 in a row. I highly recommend this lovely & excellent pattern. These aprons are so much more comfortable to wear as they do not pull down on your neck like the ones with a loop around your neck. As a home economist who has taught both sewing and cooking, and spends most of the morning cooking each day, I have gone through a lot of aprons in my home life and profession, love this one.
