Decent Knife Saw/Rasp Combination Chopper/Meat Cleaver
Upgrade Revision: It is what it is, and it is dangerous because of what it is. It is dangerous as there is little area to grasp other than the grip. Very easy to have an accident and if in grid-down situation where there is no medical staff, or lack of antibiotics or other wound treatment assets, one can get easily infected. • Made a small THICK leather piece to put over the 'saw teeth' so can more effectively use the blade for more than 'chopping/striking'. I use the saw to remove wood from round walking sticks for an attachment and use the blade near the grip to push with my other thumb to carefully remove the lands left during the saw cuts without cutting into the high sides of the groove. • Not a carving knife by any means due to the saw. If could grip near the tip from the back, could use the point, but it is treacherous duty. • The wide, flat blade is great for skinning knots off of walking sticks, and chopping fish heads off, and any other quick portioning of of meat with one chop. • The weight to size delivers a strong strike for chopping. • Very fine leading edge for quick slicing of cordage, leather cutting. • Wouldn't baton the back of the blade where the saw is unless for survival circumstance where dulling the saw does not outweigh the outcome if didn't beat on it. • Saw is short enough that it does not exert excessive pressure on one's wrist like the long machetes with saw backs. • Fits easily into, or on, backpacks. • Enough room in the sheath to add a tooth brush to clean the X pattern saw teeth. • Wrap parachute cord around handle for better grip when hot and sweaty = excellent grip. • Easy to hone a new razor blade finish on it.

Trust the Poor Reviews
I liked this knife, the price was right, and S&W is a brand I trusted so I bought without hesitation. Unfortunately it broke on the first outing exactly as many reviews and photos show. It was not misused, just poor quality in the tang. I should have read and trusted the poor reviews. Unfortunately, S&W lost my trust and will rethink all future purchases with them now.

Bought a second one after my first broke.
I’m a bit of a blade junkie and will typically buy a new blade to try each year for camping trips. This all purpose blade is one of the most versatile and comfortable wilderness blades I’ve bought in a long time. The size and weight is perfect for medium duty machete work, the double toothed saw on the backside is superior to any non-dedicated saw that I own, great for the branches and brush too thick to hack through. Though not meant for this, the wide blade worked perfect as a makeshift spatula while cooking. The first one of these I owned unfortunately snapped in half when I was using it like a cleaver. I didn’t even swing it hard, but the handle snapped clean off the blade (which is a full tang btw, the metal actually snapped.) After lots of inspection from me and my camping buddies, we all agreed that it had to have been just a fault in the metal/manufacturing. No way any knife should break under the little force I put in that swing. That said, the primary thickness of the blade could stand to be a touch thicker. Nonetheless, I enjoyed all the features and ergonomics of it that I bought a second one. I’ve not been gentle on it and have been hacking through bushes around my house with no issues.

Dang useful
This is like a cross between a knife and a machete. It arrived extremely honed but is so light, it can be difficult to gain leverage and momentum to hack a branch. The handle has an excellent feel and curve to it that helps compensate for its light weight. I carry it for personal protection/emergency use while running trails. I highly recommend.

great defense weopon.
bought this for my girlfriend to keep bedside. its a great self defense tool that one does not really need to put effort into. if a intruder comes into the house simply hold it in front of you. good luck trying to disarm someone who has it as where ever you try to touch it will cause damage with any quick movement. try to grab the wrist holding it and you better hope you get it before its pulled away and you grab either side of the blade. highly recommend for this purpose for anyone you think could use a defense tool.

I bought this early on for cutting up small branches and stuff. It wasn't the Smith and Wessen quality that I imagined. It seemed rather cheap but I guess that's what 50 bucks gets you. I walked over to put some wood in the fire and without any force put in in a log so as to keep it near and the whole " tang"broke. Not very impressed.
