I recently bought the Flattening Stone from Sharp Pebble after having been very impressed with their other products. I used the FS on a small waterstone and was very happy with the results, it cleaned it up very quickly. That said, I was surprised to see that the FS has been worn down significantly. I had planned on using it on many of my older stones but realized it would be gone in no time if it wore in the manner it did with the first stone. I contacted Salma at Sharp Pebble with my concerns and she was very helpful. She explained that the FS I received must have been defective and replaced it with a new stone. The new FS arrives and worked perfectly with almost no visible wear. I would give the new FS 5 stars but because of the issues with the first stone, I’m staying at 4 stars. Sharp Pebble is awesome.

Flattened my stone in time. Good stuff. If you have a single bevel knife, you're gonna need this to keep your sharpening stone in top shape.

It’s a good one.

This is an outstanding stone to level any other stones used for levelling your wet stones. It has two sides and the light side is for the polish. The darker side is the one you would grind your other stone on until it was flat.. Make sure to put pencil marks on the stone your flattening so once the pencil marks are gone, you know your stone is level

I had purchased one of these about a year ago without any issue and recently needed a second one at another location, so figured I would pick up another of the same. The Flattening Stone arrived looking fine but it wasn't until I used it that I saw my sharpening stones were not being flattened evenly. I inspected the flattening stone and noticed it had a significant concave on the smoother side. Figuring there were bound to be some discrepancies in manufacturing, I opted to return it and try another. Which also arrived looking fine, but this time had a as bad/or worse concave on the coarse side. Two in a row is enough for me to want to look elsewhere, which is a shame as Sharp Pebble seemed like it a decent enough brand, but if the entire purpose of the product is to be flat in order to make something else flat... I would hope they would take the time to make sure the stones were at least, well... Flat.

Easy stone to use to keep my sharpening stones straight and level. The grit level is perfect to restore the surface of my sharpening stones. Overall, I'm please with how well it works.

Does the job with no fuss. Much easier to sharpen knives with a flat stone to start with

This flattening stone corrected my sharpening stone in just a few minutes work.

I used it to flatten 1200, 4000 and 8000 g. Stones. Works great, the stone is flat and was delivered without any defects. Good size !

I have the Made in Japan 1000/6000 combo King water stone, I was skeptical about this Made in China flattening stone because some comments said the stone wasn't completely flat. But what the heck, I gave it a try... regardless, it did fix the curved surface of my water stone!!! I showed couple photos showing the work in progress. As you can see, the pencil mark on the top and bottom were gone, that means the silicon carbide of the Sharp Pebble was working. Now, I can continue to sharpen the blade of my Japanese wood plane.
