Anna and Sarah Fancy Medjool Dates 5 Lbs

Let's be frank: I'm a Medjool date connoisseur. I've tried many, many brands, always with the same complaints--bugs, mold, or dry and not fresh. (Yes, yes, I've heard the argument that if dates have bugs it's a good sign because it means they probably have less pesticides. But, personally, I'd rather have some chemicals and zero bugs, because worms in my dates makes me nauseous.) Despite all this, with Sarah and Anna I can say I've finally found the date I've been looking for!! ;) Of the four 5 lb. bags of Sarah and Anna Medjool Dates I've purchased (and consumed) so far (I told you I was a connoisseur), there has been ONLY ONE bad date!! Compare that to the 1 bad date:4 good date ratio of most other brands. Not only this remarkable feat, but the dates are always fresh and moist, full of flavor and wonderful texture just like a Medjool date should be! The price of these dates is also competitive with other major brands, but with the much superior quality you're getting way more of your money's worth. The only downside is that the 5 lb. size is a large bag (resealable, so another plus!), and the dates at the bottom sometimes get a bit smooshed (but they still taste great, so nothing really to complain about!). If you want an amazing Medjool date experience, BUY THESE!! I really cannot get over them--they do not sponsor me but I wish they would!

I just bought a 5-pound bag of these beauties for the first time ever. I've eaten lots of medjools in the past, but these babies are the BIGGEST, SOFTEST, GOOIEST, most caramelly dates I've ever had. Top notch quality! Two to three of them literally fill my palm. I'll definitely be buying these again! Highly recommended!

Medjool dates ate the most wonderful natural snack. And Anna and Sarah's are the best of the best. These are fresh, soft, and bursting with flavor.

I've bought 1,2, and 5lb over the last several years and these were the best super fresh, sticky and amazing. The last 2 bags that I have ordered have been dry, fermented / black inside. The 5lb bag a friend ordered based on my glowing reviews was also rancid. Searching for another source.

Wonderful taste so far. But, getting too expensive for us. And, very sugary.

Wow, receiving these dates was a surprise. Packed in a resealable lined brown bag. The dates were large and meaty and moist. Everyone of them was sweet, soft and delicious. So I purchased two more bags as gifts. To my surprise they were packed differently in a plain plastic resealable bag. I don’t know if the second order was as pleasing as the first one I ordered for myself. I’m going to order them again for myself and will review the third order to see if the quality dropped.

UPDATE: I was finally able to get through to the company directly. (FYI not returnable through Amazon.) When I contacted the company twice through leaving a message on the "contact us" part of their site, they did not respond. Then I phoned and was told they'd send me info by email, but they never did. However, the 2nd time I phoned them, I got a great person who sent me a new bag to replace the fermented dates. The new batch was delicious. I believe that their product is mostly great, but definitely there are some bad batches. Anna & Sarah WILL replace them if you speak directly with someone. Therefore I will raise them from 2 to 3 stars. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Unfortunately these Fancy Medjool Dates are totally inedible. They have a weird rotten taste (fermented?). The bag has a sickly smell. This was my 5th time ordering these. My previous orders were fine--not fantastic like ones I had purchased in an Armenian grocery store but still enjoyable. I tried a few dates from the bag, and all have been so awful I had to spit them out. The sell-by date on the bag (purchased in October 2023) is May 1, 2025. I can see from reviews that I'm not the only one to get a bad batch. The bag says 100% Guaranteed Customer Satisfaction, so why does Amazon say this item cannot be returned? $19 is much too expensive for me to take that risk again. I directly emailed the company twice and haven't heard back. I'm giving 2 stars based on previous good bags, but this bag as well as the return policy deserve no stars. I'm sad about this because I love dates and was glad to find them online.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I'm a date junkie. There's so much one can do with dates, it'd be futile to list. Problem is that one really seldom or never knows about quality... These dates arrived with my subscription and I couldn't be happier. They're large and moist with the sweet hint of Sugar Maple one finds with Medjool dates. The packaging is the ubiquitous resealable robust plastic bag (I reuse 'em for my dehydrated fruit here in Washington state). Def. 5 stars. I've ordered ugly dates for years, as well as dry dates recently and the price point/quality ratio of this outfits product can't be bested.
