Fishbone - Give A Monkey A Brain And He'll Swear He's The Center Of The Universe - desertcart.com Music Review: Punk Metal Funk, get all your needs met in one place - I could only buy so many albums, then tapes, then cds when I was young and totally broke. Now that I'm decrepit and only moderately broke I'm going back and buying stuff I thought about or heard about, but never got. This process has been hit and miss, but this was a homerun. From the pure Parlaiment style funk of No Fear to the spectacular chaos of Drunk Schitzo this is the very best of what the early 90's was about. Definitely worth the money and now I have to expand my Fishbone collection. Review: I love this album - I love this album. HIGHLY underrated Fishbone record. These guys really put together a solid group of songs with excellent, thoughtful, intricate writing and musicianship. They could have kept the last song off - that Nutmeg jawn could have been used for another record, not this one.

4.5 Stars: Has aged far better than even I could've possibly imagined at the time of its release.
Last album to feature the original (and now-LEGENDARY) Fishbone lineup, also making it the last truly essential studio release they've put out since. Former member/guitarist/key songwriter Kendall "Special K" Jones' contributions were rather significant on this one in particular, easily some of his best songwriting ever! Shame to see this classic alternative release from the early-'90s currently OOP along with most of the band's work from their "peak" Columbia/Sony period, just further proof that they were indeed several steps ahead of what was actually going on in the mainstream back then. Nice to see the original lineup reunited in recent years, hopefully they'll be able to go out on their OWN terms this time around in the new millennium....

A Work of Pure Genius
It’s amazing how well this album holds up after 25 years, it sounds so fresh to me every time I listen to it. It’s hard to believe how many people shunned this album as “uninspired” and “strange” when it first came out and even now. This was Fishbone’s attempt at telling the world that they were not just a ska funk party band, but that they could write complex tunes with amazing lyrics. What I love about this album is that it has it all, I might even be bold as to say that it’s the second coming of P-Funk on some of the funkier tracks. Songs like Black Flowers and They All Have Abandoned Their Hopes still send chills down my spine from their dark under tones. It’s a shame that it was ahead of its time and was a flop when it came out and the record company eventually dropped the band. Everyone wanted Fishbone to play ska all the time and when they actually wrote some interesting tunes, everyone put their musical prejudices in front of their ears and never gave it a chance. The record company dropped the band after this and they never really peaked again. I believe that most fans now agree however, that Reality of My Surroundings and this record are the height of Fishbone’s musical peak and may be two of the most underrated albums of the nineties.

veloce e in perfette condizioni
Consiglio caldamente l'ascolto!

"Give a Monkey a Brain and he'll think he's the center of the Universse ": par FISHBONE 1993:Chef d'Oeuvre, un groupe UNIQUE !!!
"Of course it's a masterpiece" ... pas oubliés !!! : FISHBONE EXCEPTIONNEL ! Chez "4 worlds Media " 1993 , Sony Music Entertainment .

Good introduction to Fishbone
I like this CD, the band do not stay in the genre of ska punk as for example of servitude, the whole track is heavy and has a great middle eastern riff.
