Good Astronomy Flashlight
I just received this flashlight so this is a first impression. The main LED is bright enough for most flashlight uses at 50 Lumens maximum output but I would not consider it a tactical flashlight personally as it does not have the requisite output and is not designed for weapons attachment. It is well engineered for general field use by the military, the intended primary market. I wanted it for astronomy use and it seems to be quite suitable for that. The red LED is bright enough for chart reading at minimum output without affecting night vision much and for safe walking around at the higher output levels. For night vision preservation it is great that it always turns on at the lowest level of output which then ramps up by continued pressure on the ON switch. I am not sure I will have any use for the IR and Blue LEDs. I like the permanent attachment of the battery cover so it cannot be dropped or lost. Also though the light is mostly plastic construction it gives the impression of being a rugged light that should stand up to rough handling. Listed battery life is also good as all flashlights have to be a compromize between brightness and battery life.

It's awesome.
I owned an earlier version that was recently stolen and debated whether I'd get another or just settle and get a 20 dollar flashlight. I chose to get the newer version and it's awesome. Previously I had the sportsman edition, I purchased the military version because I thought the IR light would be a cool feature. Well, it is. I don't have anything that can actually see IR light, but after looking on the internets I found out a digital camera can see if the l.e.d. is lit. So I pointed my phones camera at the light and switched it on. Wow! I saw a faint blue glow. OFF ON OFF ON. Sweet. Besides the gimmick factor I can envision some sort of use for the IR light...maybe. Other than that the light is rugged, waterproof, adjustable, and wearable. It's a really great size too. Nice and compact. One down side - the military version starts off on the dimmest beam strength. I like it, but some may not.

Very practical. Sturdy. Right amout of light
This my third Streamlight. One lost and other cascaded into rocks and broke. Not a high power lumen on low set, but many times on low set you only want 5 lum to read a book or map. Good all around light and very reliable. Hands free, helmet / pocket / pack strap clip and rotating light is excellent. I carry two lights. This one and a high 900 lumen / strobe. Headlamps are good but not always the ideal choice.

Great tactical light, but not super bright!
This light is not super bright, but It will get the job done. I like the various light modes (white, grn, blue, and IR). I’ve had mine since 2014, it’s now 2021 and it still works like new despite dropping it a thousand times, leaving it exposed to water, sun, dirt, and submerging it in water. I love that this light can be attached to various tactical and hiking packs I own. You can attach it to hats and various head gear. Battery life is amazing I’ve probably changed batteries out 2-3 times a year. Overall I’m very satisfied with my purchase of this product. Would definitely recommend for hiking, camping, outdoors, indoors, etc. Overall great light, but if you are looking for something super bright, this is not the light.

Great Light
I like that you can set the light down and it is not going to roll away. You can continuously adjust the angle of the light through the 185° range of motion. The strobe is somewhat slow at about 120 flashes per minute. With the white light intensity of 55 Lumens, I think the strobe is more for signaling than to disorient an attacker. The low intensity setting is perfect for checking an item in the dark and offers wonderful battery life. The manufacturer claims 100+ hours of battery life on low with the white light bulb. I wondered about the infrared features of the light and that was a bit disappointing. I used a TRENDnet Megapixel Wireless N Pan, Tilt, Zoom Network Surveillance Camera with 2-Way Audio and Night Vision, TV-IP672WI (White) to check things out. In darkness, the infrared light added a bit more light than the camera already put out. The "IR Safe" blue light was much brighter than the IR LED though it was slightly dimmer than the red LED on camera. The white light was the brightest. The blue "IR Safe" light is supposed to peak at 470 nm wavelength. The Trendnet camera states a 940 nm infrared wavelength but it does not specify if that is the peak wavelength of the illuminators or the the image sensor. The Sidewinder uses an 880 nm IR LED and a 630 nm red LED I am not sure if the "IR Safe" feature works as intended but it failed to work as expected. I thought it would not show up on an infrared camera but it does. I welcome any explanation of the intended use of the "IR Safe" LED. If I turn the IR LED all the way up, I can see a faint red glow with my eyes fairly easily. I expected that but I can only see the IR LED on low once I let my eyes get dark adapted. I still like the options of using the red LED to preserve night vision and to minimise the disturbance to others. It is really a stretch to find much else to detract from the light. I wonder if the light would have been less expensive if it had just two or three intensities instead of four. I imagine that most of the time I will want either Low or High and will not bother with the two middle intensities. It is nice that it starts on Low and ramps up to High. The light seems plenty sturdy. I do not have any issues with it having a plastic case. I plan to order more of these. Recommended.

Idea, handy size. clips on molle systems
Ideal. easy to use. I use with lithium non-rechargeable batteries to ensure long life and consistent power in cold conditions, Fits tightly and neatly onto MOLLE system backpacks for easy storage, light weight and ideal as an area light when camping in 2-4 man tents. The LEDS are bright and so is main beam (white light). useful security feature to ensure that during storage the infra-red LED is not on. All functions work well although I have no way of testing infra-red feature. Well made and delivered in a reasonable time (UK customer) although first delivery went astray the item was replaced free of charge - 5 stars for service to.

Good, I like the compact nature and the AA batteries, really could have used a red option in lieu of the unneccacry green. Otherwise very very good torch.

Been dropped off roofs and drowned in slush. Always powers up the same. Beam isn't super narrow like other "tactical" flashlights that try to blind anyone they're pointed at. Paired with some good Duracells you can expect it to last a good season.

This product is tough, flawless, precise and works perfectly. Not the most powerful, but surprisingly bright for the size of the optics. The most prevalent feature of this flashlight is *** RELIABLE ***.
