Didn't leak, kept cast dry at the river for a week!
This was a total BLESSING for us this summer! My 7 year old ended her school year with a broken arm then 2 months later broke the same arm again! This all happened the week before we left for summer vacation at the river. I went to a local durable medical equipment company however they did't have her size in stock but the price was the same as here on Amazon so I ordered here with my Prime to get expedited shipping so it came in time for our trip. After reading reviews I was skeptical and hesitant to wait until our trip to try this out so the night it arrived I put it on her and made her lay in a bath for about half hour to test. I figured if it leaked and her cast got wet i'd rather have it happen here so I could get a new cast before our trip than while traveling to find an ortho to recast. It worked perfectly! I followed the advice of another reviewer and put a long tube sock on her arm over the cast. This enabled ease in putting on and taking off. She wore the cast cover for 7 days straight and spent about 8 hours a day in the river, jumping in and out, picking shells and rocks out of the bottom, swimming, paddle boarding, boating, tubing and more. Not once did we have a problem with leaking. The cast cover worked perfectly each and every time without fail. I did make her take 5 minute breaks at least once an hour to "air" it out. The directions I believe suggest every 45 minutes but I found once an hour for 5-10 min worked best for us. I'd take the cover off after drying her upper arm, remove it, put it in the sun and take the sock off and also place in the sun to dry out. Then we would put it back on and off she would go back out into the water. You can see in the pics nothing stopped her from having a good time. I highly recommend using a tube sock each and every time, airing it out every hour and making sure you get the correct fit. My daughter is 7 and you can see her size in the pics, approx 61 pounds. She wore an adult long size small. It fit perfectly. It did stretch out some over the course of the week and she probably could've gotten by with the extra small however I think length would have been compromised. As the week wore on we simply inflated it more and if she got too wild in the water we would check it frequently to make sure it was still in a suction mode vs, inflated and allowing water/air inside. Don't lose the little bulb suction you deflate with. We kept it with us at all times and it was simple enough for her to use on her own. Put on and take off is a two person job. She was able to help me but couldn't' have done it alone (1 person wearing the cast cover and putting it on themselves). Overall this was the best investment i've made in a long time. She used it after we came home during bath time and to swim a couple more times during the summer. It was worth the money and i'd purchase again in a heart beat.

and now have to pay to ship it back- basically cost me $20 just to realize this wasn't a good idea. If your kid is determined to
One star because zero stars is not an option. My son cried trying to put this damn thing on, and I almost had to cut it off to remove it, it hurt him so badly. There is no way it can be worth going through the pain of putting this thing on and off just to go swimming. Put a shopping bag with a rubber band over your kid's cast for shower or bath, and just wait a month for the cast to be removed for them to get in the pool. I had this sent next-day air, and now have to pay to ship it back- basically cost me $20 just to realize this wasn't a good idea. If your kid is determined to go swimming, then I suppose this would work (it is definitely tight enough), but they're not going to enjoy the pinching from the tight, skin ripping rubber. Also, the picture on the box shows a boy with a half cast even though it contained a full arm cast. So if your kid's injury is to the lower arm only, you need a half cast not a full cast, and the photo is deceiving. Not sure who would plan on swimming with a full cast up to the shoulder, which seems more like floating with one arm. If you're thinking of getting this just for showering, there's no way anyone would be willing to go through the pain of pulling this on and off just for that, and you'll have wasted $40 just like I did.

This saved my daughters summer!
This product is amazing! I would give it more stars If I could. First off, definitely use this with a sock that covers the whole cast. It makes putting it on and taking it off a ton easier, it is more comfortable for the wearer, and it will absorb moisture (sweat or random drops). Secondly, before I bought this we used duct tape and bags around my daughters arm for two showers and one trip to the pool and all those times she kept her arm out of the water and still water got in. I saw products in the drug stores but they were pretty much the same thing. I couldn't see myself or her, 9 years old, putting up with this for weeks AND it was summer vacation and she was having no fun having to be so careful. I did a lot of internet research and made it to the manufacturers site, where I put in her measurements and gave me the correct size. It is a must to get it the right size! It was expensive on the manufacturer's site, so I used amazon. We got it quick and immediately put it to use. We used it in the pool everyday (and she could swim underwater completely submerged with the cover on!), the shower everyday (using both hands in the water), the beach (it kept out sand and water allowing for lots of sand castles, yay!), the hot tub occasionally (again fully submerged) and only had a minor leak one time, which we caught, put a new sock on and went back in the water. We also used it at a water park, where it held up really well. It did have a tiny leak on a water slide, but since we used a sock, the cast was fine and we dried the sock and put it back on and went back into the water fun. It worked beautifully the entire time she had her cast on (4 1/2 weeks) and now the kids play with it. Now, while I was doing research a lot of reviews either said the sleeve tore, or got damaged. We used that cover all the time and she is a very active child, however I made very sure she stayed away from the edges of the pool.

Not for small toddlers
This did not properly fit my 20 month old. I used her measurements but they still didn’t offer one best for her size. The length was too long. Not the best option for a tiny arm with an above elbow cast. Where it had to be placed the seal kept breaking be side of her arm pit. I used press and seal like others suggested and I can’t honestly say if that helped or not but it didn’t hurt. The sock suggestion did make it easier to put on. The first time we didn’t used and my daughter cried when we were tugging to get it off. It took two of us to get it on. With a sock I could do it all alone. We used it at the beach and I think it worked great. It’s just not the easiest on and off. Sometimes we used dog poop bags in layers when she playing in the sand and puddles. That was a better option for that. This product I think was best for when she was in deeper water and in the lazy river. Overall it’s great, they just need a size option for really tiny arms. I will update with photos when I can.

Really works!!! Read the tips!!
This really works!!! Read tips!! This is an incredible product! We were able to enjoy a water park and a weekend at the lake! My son had both a full arm, then half arm cast and time after time it protected it from the water. We didnt intentionally submerge it, but if it happened by accident we were comfortable knowing he would stay dry. Tips: measure the arm or leg for sizing, the seal around the limb is crucial to it working properly (MEASURE THE UPPER PART OF THE LIMB, NOT THE CAST ITSELF!!!). We found the "press n seal wrap" and bandage tip from another amazon user VERY helpful. First we wrapped the entire cast in glad press n' seal wrap (its sticky so watch skin and arm hairs), we did this just in case some moisture made it through (it never did but my mama heart felt better). Second, on the jagged top and bottom portions of the cast, we protected the waterproof sleeve by wrapping sports bandages on these jagged parts. It was good we did this as the sharp edges of the cast could have potentially ripped the sleeve. The first time we pumped the air out quickly my son found some discomfort (he is reeeeaaalllyy sensitive) due to the change of pressure inside the sleeve, we found that if we pumped slowly it resolved this problem. It would be helpful to have two people to help position the sleve. The rubber is heavy duty and prying the opening of the sleeve wide enough to fit the cast took some effort and a second set of helping hands was useful. Lastly, the pump nozzle pokes out quite a bit even after the pumping bulb is removed for use. I took another strip of press n seal, or sports bandage and bandaged it flat on top of the sleeve to minimize interference from it protruding out into someone else, or my kid's armpit. This is a phenomenal product!!!

Worked well.....while it lasted. Smallest size was too big.
My daughter had a broken arm this summer and was in a cast. We had purchased a trip to the lake with a boat and cabin and could not get out of the trip so we used this item to cover her arm. It was too big for her and it was the smallest size available so we had to make it work. It’s the best (only affordable) product we could find that would work for her. It did work in the lake and it kept her cast completely dry, despite being too big. The seal at the top is tight and waterproof. It did tear at the top, where it seals to the arm, after we got home and used it for her baths. We only got to use this around ten times before it broke but it did what we needed it to do for our trip and that was paramount. Sad that it failed with how much I spent.

No sock, or Saran needed. This works great!
This is so great!!! We did Not need Saran or a Sock. It was so easy! Then We swam, we really swam. My daughter broke her right arm June28th, 2016. This is the 4th cover we've tried! :/ We didn't wrap it with saran, or put a sock on first, as some have instructed. We just put it over her cast. She had a full arm cast for the first 3.5 weeks. When we got this one she was in a half cast (just below the elbow). She had got the new cast the day we got the Dry Pro in the mail. I had ordered the full arm small, & even though she has the smaller cast now it still worked PERFECTLY! I put the cover on the way it would have went over a full cast (around mid-upper arm) and we pumped out the air to her comfort (too tight isn't good) We were at the water park for 4.5 hours that day! We removed it mid day to eat. Her arm did sweat a little around the top and her fingers, but the cast was dry!!! She did have some dead skin around her arm coming off from her previous cast, we wiped it off with a wipe. Ta da! :) The cover stinks a little, like a balloon. No big deal. It works so well! I wish I'd have purchased it first! With the measurements do make sure you get the size to cover the cast. They have a size guide! :) One thing we thought to do, that I haven't seen mentioned, is we bought a friction stick (its a bit like deoderant, runners and swimmers use it between legs to prevent friction burning. It is a few dollars) We put it around her elbow to keep the cover from rubbing when she bends her arm. It works well. We made sure we followed instructions (very easy) and made certain the lip of the cover was smooth around her arm. We also made sure the wrinkles of the cover were gathered around the cast, and not her arm, before sucking the air out so it didn't pinch. She said it was comfortable (as it could be) :) She didn't feel it got too hot inside. If it felt warm she just stuck it in the Pool! It was 98 at the pool the first day. We have used it several times (showers, and baths too) since we got it, and everytime her cast is still dry! I would absolutely buy another one! (Hope I don't need to-;) )

Decent item for an impossible task
Been a few years since this purchase. But saw it and wanted to leave my review. Purchased to cover my 4 year olds broken arm on a trip to the beach. It worked well enough. Due to user error some small amounts of water did get into the cast. Was no big deal. Having a cast in summer time it needed replaced due to sweat any way.
