Apple Magic Keyboard - US English, Includes Lighting to USB Cable, Silver

I've used all kinds of keyboards in many years of Unix-based system administration and software development work, including Cherry key-based mechanical keyboards, the large original IBM keyboards, a NorthGate OMNI keyboard in Dvorak mode, SMK-88's, Happy Hacking Keyboard and many I've forgotten about. I got this keyboard for Christmas, along with the new trackpad. I have 3 of the previous edition of this keyboard which I like, along with the previous trackpad (2 of those). I've given those away as this new keyboard is the best I've ever used. One reviewer mentioned that this keyboard feels cheap -- I'm fairly certain it will last, but I do understand that the feel is very different and could be confused for cheap. Given the quality of Apple hardware, I'm going to assume the new keyboard is high quality and move on. I've already purchased a second one along with a second new trackpad to leave at work, and though I never thought I'd do it, I don't use a mouse anymore for general work, and rarely for anything else. I find the travel of the keys is perfect, and my fingers feel better after typing on it than they did on mechanical keyboards. Mechanical keyboards are the best, and I refuse to use a non-mechanical key keyboard, except for this one. I bought a second keyboard and I carry both this keyboard and trackpad in their original boxes when I'm traveling somewhere for any length of time, as the size of the keyboard and trackpad are amazingly small, even though the keyboard is full-size (at least, same exact size as the keyboard on the laptop). I like having the lightning cable to initially connect to a MacBook; it does sometimes take a few seconds for the keyboard (and trackpad) to connect via Bluetooth when I've been away with my laptop for a while. The new 12" MacBooks have these keyboards built in, and I've decided to wait to upgrade my 13" Retina MacBook Pro until they put this keyboard into the next 13" and/or 15" Retina MacBook Pros. Still, some may not like the feel of the keyboard, so go to an Apple store and try them out if you're really not sure. As for those who have older Macs and / or older versions of OS X (prior to 10.11), don't buy until you've upgraded, if you upgrade. It does say it only works on latest OS (at least the function keys don't seem to work on earlier versions of the OS), but if you don't read the specs, not sure you should complain that it doesn't work for you.

I was reluctant to make this purchase. There are so many cheaper alternatives out there. But, I have come to expect the best from Apple and this keyboard did not disappoint. I recently purchased a stand that elevated my MacBook Pro to a more comfortable height for me. That introduced a new hurdle to overcome and that was the fact that now I needed a keyboard to place underneath it. This model is slightly older and it does require an adaptive connector because Apple has an annoying tendency to keep making changes to connection ports on their devices. Luckily, I already had this adaptor. With very little effort, they keyboard was connected and running. I greatly prefer the feel of this keyboard to that of the one that is physically attached to the MacBook Pro. I make fewer typing mistakes and I like the tactile sensation that it offers. I tend to leave it switched on all the time as opposed to continually switching it on and off and the charge lasts quite some time. I wish that there were some kind of warning it provided me with when it starts running low, but when I type and nothing comes out on the screen, I know that it must be running on empty. I'm still not sure if buying a cheaper keyboard wouldn't have been just as good of an experience. I just firmly believe in Apple and wanted to be consistent. But, the old adage that "you get what you pay for" seems to be justified and I strongly endorse this product!

I type on an Apple Magic Keyboard every day and find them to be easy to use, with very good battery life. They easily pair with Macs, iPads, and Apple TVs. I'm giving 5 stars for the product, but no stars for the sales experience. The keyboard I received was obviously one that had been returned. I buy Apple gear all the time, and the boxes are always wrapped in plastic -- this was not. Upon opening the box I noticed the plastic sleeve the keyboard was in was upside down. There's a small tab that makes it easy to pull the keyboard out of the box. This was facing down, under the keyboard, instead of up. And, the shipping box was way oversized for the product and had only two small pieces of packing paper, so the box was pretty well smashed. Again, the product performs just fine, but I am returning it. Used products ought to be identified as "open box" to buyers and not sold under the pretense of being new.

I bought this to use with my iPad Pro 10.5. Love it. Pairs up via Bluetooth. I've had it for two days and have used it a few hours a day. It came with 85% battery, currently at 84% battery. Dropped a whole 1% in two days. Perfect. I love that it is a full sized keyboard, comparable to my MBP 13". I also wasn't a fan of the Apple Smart Keyboard (the cover with the keyboard cooked in). It was just too cramped plus I already had a smart cover so no reason to have two covers. I found out that I could use this keyboard when talking to an Apple Store employee while looking at iMacs. We paired a keyboard up to an iPad and I was sold (although I bought it on Amazon because it is $10 cheaper compared to buying it from Apple). Since it is an Apple keyboard, the battery life shows up in the battery widget along with the iPad battery life and Apple Pencil battery life. Screen brightness and volume controls on the top work with the iPad. I was also able to pair this up with my iPhone 8 but not sure I would ever do that in the future. If there would be one suggestion for iPad users who want to use this keyboard, I would buy a case for it if you are going to travel around with it, like me going to campus and putting it in my backpack. I purchased a Hermit Shell case and it fits perfectly.

If you're a Mac user and need a keyboard solution for your computer, either laptop or desktop, you can't go wrong with this device. Yes, it's expensive (I suggest looking for it used, first) for such a simple device, but it's Apple, so it should be expected. That said, you are also getting an Apple designed product--it feels premium, well designed and works exactly as it should. It's incredibly thin and compact (the same size as the keyboard on the macbook pro and just a bit thicker than a cell phone), barely weighs anything, and the battery lasts forever. It's a great option if you need a keyboard for traveling. The keys have a little more "oomph" than my 2015 Macbook Pro's keys, making them more satisfying to press. I think the only thing to be aware of is that you may want to purchase a wrist wrest. I found my wrists being strained by the keyboard's form factor, but this was remedied by raising them above the board.

I wanted a wireless keyboard to use with my 11" MacBook Air, which I have plugged into my ultrawide monitor and mostly use when I'm not gaming on my PC, which is also plugged into the same monitor. I was already pretty familiar with this keyboard layout as I used a corded Apple keyboard daily at work for years, so I don't have too much trouble typing on it, though I'm not quite as accurate with it as I am with my Corsair K70 RGB mechanical keyboard. For those that are not familiar with this kind of Apple keyboard, the keys are pretty shallow, meaning there is not a whole lot of travel to the keys before you bottom out. This can possibly cause some finger fatigue if you are a heavy typer like I am, but I think I've just gotten used to it after having used an Apple keyboard for years. The keys themselves have a very nice clicky tactile feel to them, and I like the way they sound as well. My only real issue with this keyboard is the arrow keys, which are laid out differently than they were on the Apple keyboard I used at work for years. I've been using this Magic Keyboard for two weeks now and I'm still having lots of trouble finding the up arrow key. Half the time I end up hitting the right Shift key instead. I believe the problem is due to the fact that the arrow keys are not the same size, with the left and right arrow keys being about twice the size of the up and down arrow keys. I believe they shrank down the up and down arrow keys to keep the board's overall size smaller, but I bet they could have shrunk the left and right arrow keys to match the up and down arrow keys and I would not be having these issues. This can be a problem for me when dealing with spreadsheets as I tend to use the arrow keys to navigate from cell to cell, although I don't use the arrow keys much aside from that. Pairing was super easy, in fact I didn't read instructions or anything and the board was already paired with my MacBook Air before I even knew anything had happened. I think it just pairs automatically the first time you plug it in. The battery life is really great. I mostly use my MacBook Air after work for checking email, web browsing, watching Netflix/Hulu/Plex etc., though I do also work from home on occasion. After two weeks of my type of usage, including a couple half-days' worth of working from home on it, the battery level is at 94% right now. At this rate, i will be going months in between charges. I also really like the small size and light weight of this keyboard. It's small enough that I can fit it in the little laptop sleeve that I carry around my 11" MacBook Air in, which means I'll most likely be bringing this keyboard with me when I travel for work. Overall, I am very happy with the keyboard. I did dock one star due to the issue with the arrow keys, but that's not a deal breaker for me by any means, just a nuisance which I may or may not become accustomed to. Aside from that, I would buy it again if I had to do it over.

Excellent Mac accessory. Pairs seamlessly, holds a charge for a LONG time— can’t remember the last time I charged mine— and unlike some Bluetooth devices, it powers off when your computer isn’t in range so it doesn’t waste batteries. This keyboard allows me to put my old (2014) MacBook Pro on a raised stand so that the screen is at eye level, while I can type at desk level. Since it it’s a a Mac device, it has the same exact layout that my keyboard does. And with my old Mac keyboard now sticking and glitching after so many years, this accessory lets me type without dropping letters. If only it had a trackpad accessory that worked as well as the Mac trackpad!

Wow! I've had the Previous $69 Apple keyboard for a couple years and, with the INcase Origami Case, that was a terrific tool for long writing sessions on my iPad. The on-screen keyboard is acceptable for short postings, but this is a serious, professional keyboard. I upgraded to the Magic Keyboard because of the battery corrosion problem that seems to haunt many with the previous generation. The alkaline AA cells get tired and leak. This one is a rechargeable and the charge is rated to last a month. I haven't had it that long, but have typed for hours and days without a recharge. Not an issue. This keyboard is very comfortable and solid-feeling. Easy to pair. Cons: Well, it IS a little thin, so I bought the Hermitshell rigid case for it and I think that's a good investment, if you're going to carry the keyboard with you for writing projects, or whatever. Apple does it again -- a beautiful keyboard.

The pivot to working only online this year has taken its toll on my body.. my wrist was sooo soar from using a regular mouse and my laptop keyboard. I decided it was time to listen to my body and step up my office game! After searching for hours on amazon looking for an ergonomic keyboard... I found this one and I couldn't be happier! The only reviews that worried me where the ones that said their magic keyboard came 'used', however mine came brand new with the plastic sleeve still in tact on the box! Super happy with it! It came 97% charged and easily connected to my MacBook air (don't need any adapters it connects through Bluetooth- the first time you use it, all you have to do is plug in the provided lighting cable switch the keyboard on and today you can start typing!). This was HUGE selling feature for me because my ergo mouse is presently using my only USB adapter ;) So this keyboard actually saved me money as with any other keyboard (i was considering the Logitech ergonomic @ 150$) I would have needed to buy an additional adapter ~$65... LOVE this about apple! Since I started using the keyboard and my ergo mouse together yesterday my wrist muscles feel relief! Soo grateful that I made the investment in myself, my body is thanking me!! It types like a dream!!! Its super compact, modern, and sleek. I wish I had bought this sooner! Many reviews comment on the price, however after reading many many reviews and looking at many many wireless keyboards, this one has the most consistent reviews and I think priced fairly for being apple and HIGH quality, especially for Mac users as you don't need any adapter as long as your operating system is up to date! Works as good as expected. Holds charge for a while, but not nearly as good as regular battery operated keyboards. Keep the cable handy foe charging.

Big Keyboard enthusiast here and I have yet to find a better feeling keyboard to type with. When I need to write a long ass essay the Magic keyboard are my go to. it's very satisficing to type with and the battery life is amazing. Compatible with Mac and Windows. NOT GOOD FOR GAMING the switches just can't compete with a mechanical keyboard in terms of gaming features.
