Check the winding direction!
These labels do the job, but mine arrived with an important flaw. The spool of labels was rolled in reverse! I'm not just talking about how the unit was threaded - the roll of labels actually had to be rewound, with what had been the leader end going on the spool core first. As received, they would not separate as they were pulled from the dispenser, because the clear tail was ahead of the white writing area. They need to be the other way around. Can't understand how they could be shipped this way. Someone would have had to go to the effort of rewinding the labels the wrong way.Once that was corrected, the labels dispense correctly and are great for labeling network, audio and video cables. I like them better than tags or flags that stick out. In a crowded area like at a switch, these are easier to read. I suggest attaching them a little way from the plug. If too close, you may not be able to rotate the wire enough to see the label side if it winds up under or behind another cable.

Your Simple Solution
A very simple solution that works great for your cable management needs. What else can I say. Very satisfied with this product.Just make sure you let the ink dry up first for a cleaner result.

The BEST ID marker for cabling
I recently rewired my office network and tried to do it correctly by marking the cables. The most difficult part of this was finding a way to mark them. I settled on this type of marker that is wrapped around the cable. The next step was trying to find one what had a decent area to write on and the ink would dry. Every brand I tried (there were 6 of them) took forever to have the ink dry because the writing area was slick or non-porous. This one finally hit the jackpot. Use an ultra-fine Sharpie and the ink will dry in a few seconds and the tape can be wrapped around the cable without smearing.Save yourself some time and frustration and grab these first.

Quick and easy.
When you need to quickly label some cables and don't want to type out labels on your label maker, this is definitely easy. Easy to write on with a fine tip Sharpie and then peel off. Rolls around the cable just fine, and the extra clear part goes right over what you wrote so there is no chance of it smudging or rubbing off. I will continue to use these since they work perfectly. I just have to write neatly :)

Great for labeling cables while remodeling
I am in the process of refinishing my basement and wanted something so I could label all my cat5e, speaker, and cable wires at the ends before encasing everything in drywall making it impossible to track each wire back to its source. This works well on all three types of cables. To use these you write on the label while it is still in the yellow distributor, pull on the end to release the label, then wrap the label around the cable. The labels have a built in clear section that will cover and protect your writing which is really nice. I

Clean up your act!
Cool! I just finished an all-day project straightening up, labeling and rerouting my incredible rats nest of power cords, cables and USB cords for my computer, monitors, external hard drives, scanner, printer, USB hubs, lights, card reader, etc. The Hellermann Tyton RO514 Self-Laminating stickers were invaluable in tagging both ends of all these cords and cables so I could reassemble the whole thing logically.I used a simple ballpoint pen to write on the white rectangle, then wrapped the tough transparent tape around the cable. I found it easier to take the spool out of the dispenser and write on a desk, but the dispenser works fine if you don't have a convenient work surface.Anyway, I labeled dozens of cords on both ends and I still have a ton of stickers left over for my stereo and home theater systems. Really, an excellent product for OCD types like myself. Five stars!

Quite Useful, Strong Glue
Quite useful. I needed to label 150 wire ends in my studio and this did the trick. Whether tabbing or full on.It's sticky, so getting off is a trick. That's probably a good thing though. Writing with pen worked."permanent" maker smudged as did gel. Stick to a normal pen and you're golden.

ingenious dispenser
It took me a minute or two to figure out how the dispenser works. You write in the little rectangle as shown in the photos on the other reviews, and then you slowly pull on the loose tape that hangs out the back bottom. The label comes off the backing through the slot in the narrow end. Then you grab it and put it on. It's easy. I could be wrong, but it doesn't seem like a heavy-duty adhesive that will never fall off. If it is, then it deserves 5 stars. The writable label is pretty small. For thicker cables look for a bigger size.
