Ibiza Hair Brush Concave Z Series-Z5

I’m a professional hairstylist and I’ve been obsessed with using these brushes for the last 3 years.For the regular consumer: given that this is a pricey brush, if you’re newer or learning how to blowdry your own hair, I wouldn’t recommend this for you. I would suggest finding a cheaper natural bristle brush until you’ve gotten the hang of styling your own hair. The cork can be delicate and if you’re taking too large of a section and using stronger tension, you can definitely risk breaking it.For the professionals: this brush is AMAZING. I do a lot of brush set blowouts and I love that I’m able to set large sections of hair with this because of the diameter of the brush and bristles. Super polished and voluminous blowouts every time.

I purchased this brush after reading all the rave reviews. I have a lot of color-treated hair, thick Hispanic, long hair past my shoulder blades, that tends to develop a large curl and frizz since I live near the beach. I always need to blow out the curl/frizz. I was so excited to try this. I did not like how it felt in my hand immediately, I knew it would not work for me. I am not a fan of the cork handle, it's very thin and sort of kept rubbing on my hand and it tended to slip a from my grasp.The brush was also too large for my hand. I also prefer a complete, solid wood handle over the corI purchased different styles of the Ibiza to make sure I was happy with what worked for my hair. I am returning this one only because I know that for me, using it for personal use it would not work. I also noticed that the boar bristles were also falling out, not many maybe like 6-7 per that one use.This would probably work best for the professional, someone who has more control and space to utilize it properly. I returned this not because I hate it, only because it's too much for me.

I only docked a star because mine has an aesthetic flaw on the handle - the handle is made from 2 separate pieces of cork instead of 1. However, I love the functionality of the brush. I got it because I lost my Ibiza RLX 5 (which also has a concave shape and a similar diameter, but the bristle portion is shorter).Compared to the Ibiza RLX 5 this one seems to put more tension on my hair, and I like that because I have "fine but a lot of it" hair that easily frizzes if I don't have really tight tension during a blowdry. Note I can't do very large sections because then it would grip the underlayer of the section really well and not the top part of it. But I still appreciate the extra length of the bristle section even though I'm not using that length to make my section size larger. The extra length basically means I can be less precise about where I place my section on the brush, and less precise about my angles when I'm blow drying along the section and pulling the brush towards the end. I don't have to worry about pieces of the section disengaging from the brush while I pull it down because the bristle part is so big. That extra margin of error makes blow drying my own hair so much easier.I feel like the diameter is good ... small enough to grip the baby hairs near my roots. I haven't figured out yet how to curl an entire section of hair because I'm a novice at blow drying my hair, but I was able to curl the tips of my hair with this brush very easily. It grips the tips of my hair very tightly even if the tips aren't all the same length.Overall...on my first attempt using this brush I got a smoother and shinier blow dry compared to my Ibiza RLX 5 and I think that's because of the extra tension (and even then the Ibiza RLX 5 was a massive improvement over ceramic brushes that I have tried in the past - ceramic brushes gave me the least tension). I also felt less frustrated while I was blow drying because the extra room on the bristles allows me to be less precise.I used it with a mix of Macadamia Blow Dry Lotion (which I got from Amazon) and Bumble & Bumble Bb Straight Blow Dry (which I got from Sephora) - a generous layer of the Macadamia blow dry lotion followed by a generous layer of Bumble & Bumble blow dry lotion. Blow drying on high with the hottest setting and lots of tension on each section. And that made a very smooth and shiny end result for my fine-but-thick / 2b-2c / frizz-prone / Caucasian hair. (I mention hair products and technique too only because I wish other reviews had mentioned that while I was learning how to blow-dry my hair ...I tried a few products blindly that didn't work before I stumbled on something that did work... maybe it will help someone who has the same hair type as me)

I really love this brush. It slides through the hair so easily and gives my clients amazing smooth blowouts. I like that it’s not heavy and is easy to hold. I’m not sure it’s worth the cost because I think $70 for a brush is pretty ridiculous but I am glad to have it.

Overall, I like the quality and handling of the brush. I've used it less than 10 times so far (summer is almost here so trying not to dry out my hair). My only complaint thus far is that the bristles fall out more than I'd like. I'm afraid to see what my expensive brush will look like in a year. I'm hoping it will last. A sales consultant at Sephora highly recommended it...will see how it stands the test of time.

I know the price of this brush is ridiculously expensive. But it's totally worth the price in my opinion. Some time ago I purchased the Ibizia brush EX 4 and loved it. But it was time to get a new one, this time I chose this one, I was intrigued by the concave shape. Well I was sold the very first time I used it. It left my hair nice, smooth and soft. I should mention that my hair is on the thicker side, and shoulder length. I also have keratin treated hair which also make a difference in my blow drying time. But having the right brush will make a world of difference. When it's time to buy another one, I'll be buying this one again.

I used this brush for the first time and was happy with styling capability. It is expensive for a styling brush.

I love Ibiza products! What a difference in my blow out! Expensive but lasts so long and totally with the results!
