They Swing and Move Freely, Poses an Issue for Shy, Older Cat
Something to think about when considering purchasing this product is that, since it hangs from a door knob, it swings freely whenever a cat tries to use it.Whether that will pose an issue or not is up to your cat. I have one very confident and enthusiastic scratcher who loves these, and another more laid-back and timid scratcher who still ends up using more "stable" scratching surfaces when she gets the urge to scratch.Something I am considering doing is putting velcro patches on the bottom of the pad and the door; hopefully that will hold these in place so that both of my cats will feel comfortable using them.Otherwise, as far as the quality of the pad itself and the sisal - it holds up well. My cat has been using it several times a day for almost two months and it still doesn't look half bad. The string is still attached despite my young son constantly pulling on it, taking it down and playing with it, etc. I had a similar scratcher once, but the rope loop that goes around the handle was constantly coming undone. The reason I purchased this instead of a "traditional" scratcher was to save space. Obviously, it does that job well :)

Screw it to the wall
Works great if you screw it to the wall. My cat has claws and he scratched it while it's hanging and it flopped all over. He hated it. So we screwed it to the wall. Hid the handle. Works perfect. Lasted a full year. I bought one a year ago and am buying another right now. Only 4 stars because the hanging feature is terrible. If your cat has no claws, I'm sure it's fine. Declawed cats won't pull on the pad like a cat with claws.

My cat uses it so we like it. I don't hang it
My cat uses it so we like it. I don't hang it, but just lay it on the floor and she likes to jump on top of it and sharpen her claws. We already have a tall cat condo with a sisal pole up the center that she uses so we didn't feel we needed to hang this one. Sisal is neater than the cardboard type that sheds all over the floor. After many years of use, the rope breaks but we just buy a new one.

Not item pictured
One star for receiving an item that is not pictured. The actual item I received is a flat board with rope and a hanging string. The text description matches the item, but the image is what I thought I was getting (figuring it worked as a scratching pad as well). We have decided to keep the wrong item since our new kitten does need something to scratch but I am still interested in the item pictured.

Okay for a hanging scratching pad
It's okay. My cat isn't particularly interested in it though and it's heavy, so when I open and close the door it makes loud thumping noises. I will probably get rid of it if she continues to show no interest. But it looks decently made. I did have to pull a staple out of the top of it that was poking out when I opened the packaging up, so my cat wouldn't get hurt by it.For a hanging scratching pad, it looks like a decent one, if your cat is interested in those. I deducted a couple of stars for the hazard of the staple and not enticing my cat. I also wasn't a big fan of the brown fuzzy material at the top and bottom.

Perfect door savers!
This saved my doors!! My kitty, we found out, was sitting by the front door all day long meowing and scratching, trying to get to us. I went to sweep the floor and paint chips were everywhere. I promptly ordered two of these, one for the front door, one for the bedroom. And, our door takes much less of a beating now. She seems to use it, and it's staying together. It's heavy enough to stay on the door too. It feels like there is actually a piece of wood underneath the twine and carpet. I feel like is a quality product, and if my cat decides more doors are fun to scratch at, I'll be purchasing more.

Stylish Scratcher
When my local pet shop stopped selling these, I tried to make my own. With buying all the supplies and putting it together, it was so much easier to order this stylish scratch pad. My cats prefer it laying on the floor. I had to add catnip on my own, but both my cats love it! The carpeted edge provides comfort to my cat and prevents the board from scratching my floor. This was such a great deal and well made, I was so happy to find it online. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who has a cat.
