As advertised, it doesn't have a smell and the products is whipped, so it's much easier to scoop out. I put a small amount between my palms and rub them together for maybe 20 seconds to melt it, and then rub it all over my hands. One of the 'problems' is that it coats your hand with a small layer of oil, so you don't want to touch your hands on paper or something similar right after applying the shea butter. In the winter, I apply it right before I go to sleep so that it stays on my hands overnight - just one application overnight keeps my hands from getting too dry and cracking. I have thrown out all my other moisturizers - this is much better.

I originally purchased some raw, unrefined, "unscented" shea butter from a different company, looking for an alternative to petroleum-based moisturizers, which I can't use due to an allergy. When it arrived, it smelled very strongly like cigarette smoke. Apparently this is not uncommon, but I couldn't even get over the smell enough to try it out. It made my face itch just thinking about using it.I did a little more research and found this Aspen brand. It is so great! The filtering/refining process removes much of the raw smell and makes it whiter and softer. There is no smoke smell and no masking fragrance, just very vague hint of a milky/buttery type scent. This product is very soft and easy to remove from the container. It may be a little grainy at first, but as soon as if reaches body temp it melts completely. I have been using this after showering at night for about a week now, applying a quarter-sized scoop on my trunk and each limb, then mixing a dime-sized scoop with a few drops of argan oil for my face at night. It has helped calm my eczema and intensely moisturize my extremely dry, sensitive skin. When I wake up, my face is soft but not oily. I have not experienced any breakouts due to using it on my face, but I have been changing out and washing my pillowcases every couple of days or so. I have noticed that small scrapes and scratches all over have been healing faster.I highly recommend this product to anyone with sensitive skin looking for an alternative to petroleum-based moisturizers.I noticed that Aspen also sells a shea butter pre-mixed with argan oil, I will probably try that also just for use on my face.

I've been buying shea butter from different sellers on Amazon for years now and this is by far the all-around best.Has mild scent, is very smooth and comes in a sturdy reusable container.

Like other reviewers, I've found this Shea butter to be very grainy in texture. I've purchased other brands that are not. The good thing however, is that once the butter starts to melt, either by rubbing it into your skin or heating for DIY projects, the graininess disappears. So I feel like this is still a good quality product and usable. If the company could improve the texture and make it smoother, I would give this a 5/5.

this is the best Shea butter I have ever used! I used it to make lip balm and it was perfect! I did have to cool the lip balm in the fridge right after pouring it into the tubes otherwise it would crystallize. the lip balm I cooled in the fridge states smooth and perfect:)

I like this butter much better than traditional "raw, unrefined" shea butters offered by other Amazon sellers. Goes on extremely smooth and doesn't feel greasy. Lack of scent is another bonus. Recommended.

I love it feels good when I put on my skin no awful smell to it or gritty feel. I cant wait to make my whipped shea butter mix. I will definitely order again.
