Great for slab-building and carving
I bought the terracotta version. This is a lovely clay to work with. I am new to working with clay and am making pinch-pots, having a go at carving and trying slab-building. This clay is excellent for all of the above. It is ready to use straight out of the bag, not too wet, not too dry. It doesn't dry out too quickly, so I don't feel rushed when building/carving/sculpting, and don't have to keep misting the clay too much while I work. I barely notice the fibres in it while working, and it's easy to carve despite the fibres, as long as you wait till the clay is the right hardness for carving. Try to carve too early on in the drying process and the fibres will drag as you carve. But once it is leather-hard, you won't notice the fibres at all and can cut sharp, clean lines. So far I've made bowls, dishes, I've made and carved tiles, and a dish to hold my paint brushes etc. Some dishes I have made very fine - very thin walls, and they have held together well and don't feel fragile. All have turned out great. I have used both additive and reductive processes and the clay responds well to both, as long as you know what you're doing! There are no cracks in any of my pieces so far. I learned through using other air-dry clays to dry my creations slowly, in a cool spot. If I want to carve something the next day, I leave it in a plastic bag overnight so it doesn't dry out too much. I don't use a potters wheel so can't comment on how this clay responds to that. I agree with other reviewers that you cannot make slip with this clay. I do want to experiment with slip at somme point, I will have to try a different clay for that. All in all, this clay is a great choice at a great price. The amount of clay you get is amazing.

Worth the price
Fantastic clay for kids and adults alike! The texture is easy to work with as it molds, stretches, and shapes well without crumbling. The nylon fibres definitely help reduce cracking as it dries, which is a huge plus compared to other clays I’ve tried. Once dry, the models look great and are easy to paint or seal with varnish for a nice finish. No kiln needed, which makes it perfect for at-home projects or school crafts. Great quality at a good price.

Ok for kids good value for money but messy and take a a while to dry
I have always used Das clay which is amazing by the way, due to the price I though I would give this a go, value for money great for children and hobbyists, it’s quite messy to work with, slight shrinkage but not too bad, I didn’t find it cracked, the fibres to reinforce the clay can cause a problem when you come to sand your dried object as the fibres stick out of the clay and you can’t pull it out as it leaves a hole in your project, takes longer to dry than Das I would say let it dry fully for a week before painting, sands well when dry,all in all great value for the money but for me I have gone back to Das branded air dry clay, it’s smoother and just works for me better,

Heavy bag, but good amount and quality
The delivery was made in accordance to the estimated delivery date. This clay is very good quality, it is hard though sometimes to break so you may need a blunt butter knife or something for it. The bag is big, and also heavy, it would be fun for kids as they could get creative for it and the smell is usual for clay

Way better than expected! - feels like real clay
I don't normally do reviews but was pleasantly surprised with the amounts of clay and the workability if it.. I'm new to pottery hence buying some air clay.. but it feels just like real clay. I just used a coil technique on my test peice and found it easy to work with. I'd assume it can throw aswell? And plenty left for many more peices. I read a previous comment saying it's too soft. I found you can soften clay with a bit if water and it would harden in a few hours.. which is good if you want to come back to it, to better finish it, as well as add to it. I can't comment too much on its strength and wearability as of yet.. but I hope to put a painted coat over the top once fully dried to strengthen it. I did notice when wirecutting through the clay that it has lots of fine fibre.. much like a rabbit hair to help strengthen it. cutting it from the plate was hard. Easy to wash and clean with warm water.

Best clay I ever worked with
This clay is absolutely phenomenal! I simply cannot fault it. I have tried most clays in the market that don’t require a kiln. This is by far the best and feels just like working with ceramic clay. It holds shape making it easy to create pinch pots and curved walls. There is no smell and it dries without any cracks. Will buy more for sure

Not the best air-dry clay out there...
When I came across this listing for so much air-dry clay, it seemed almost too good to be true. My husband surprised me with it for Valentine's Day, since I run a small business and I sell handmade clay pieces. And immediately after getting my hands into it the first time, I noticed it was extremely wet. I've worked with other clays before this one, so I know clay is typically wet. But this was way too wet! And because of that, the clay was really muddy and was falling apart in my hands as I was trying to work with it. I actually needed to and leave my bit of clay out on my crafting table for almost 2½ days just for it to dry up enough for me to handle it a bit better. After the 2½ days of drying out, I was finally able to actually hold the clay solidly in my hands and not have it fall apart; but now the problem was that there wasn't enough moisture in it! Ugh. Go figure. When I wet my hands and then grabbed my bit of clay again, and began to work the water into the clay, it wasn't reacting the way I thought it was going to. Typically with other air-dry clays I've used before, using water will soften the clay and make it easier to roll/form/shape. But with this clay it stayed wet on the surface, which made the clay sticky. But the water wasn't mixing with the clay beyond making the surface of it super sticky and mushy. And even as I continued to work the clay, and I tried to get the wet clay to blend with the dryer parts of the clay, it still wasn't getting much softer. As someone who also suffers with chronic pain, particularly in my joints, it physically pained me to work the clay as much as I did while I tried to familiarize myself with it time and time again. After all that kneading and rolling, and to have it still not turn out the way it should have was just a big waste and a shame. I really wanted this clay to work for me, as it would have been well worth the price. My review is just one of the many. And a majority of people seem to really love this clay and seem to give it 5 stars because it worked for them. Unfortunately, I can't do the same. I just found this clay really, really difficult to work with. It was either too wet - thus making the clay sticky, runny, and messy - or it's too dry and stiff - thus making it too difficult to actually try and shape and form anything with it. Typically adding water would make a hard clay a bit easier to work with, but with this clay it doesn't. It just gets messier and stickier and it starts falling apart. I'm disappointed that this clay wasn't able to work for me, so I'll be switching back to my usual brand of air-dry clay that I use (which sadly doesn't come in 12kg bags for a cheap price lol). I would say order this clay with caution, as it may not work for you like how it was for me. I took a chance on this clay, thinking it would be perfect just like all the other positive reviewers said. I'm not sure what was different about this batch of clay that I got, if there was a difference at all. But it didn't work for me and I was glad I was able to receive a refund for it as quickly as I did. Thanks Amazon Customer Support!
