They work well, but you will have an easier time if you use vice grips to squeeze the two halves together once you've placed the two wires where they need to go. The nice thing about these is you don't have to strip the insulation off the wires. The mechanism inside cuts through the insulation to make the connection--no screw necessary, though the instructions could be much more clear about getting that across. Cool approach, but still, if I could find a screw version properly designed (which I can't on Amazon) I would definitely choose that. You have to squeeze the two halves together with the wires in place to make the connections cut through the insulation, and that takes a bit of force if you want a tight connection where the cord enters the plug. That's where using vice grips comes in handy. I recommend that before you insert the screw to tighten them down.

Very poorly designed replacement plug. Had lots of trouble putting this together, even though I'm pretty experienced at electrical work. The plug that I received had only one screw holding it together, not two as shown in the picture in the ad, so the one that I received was a different design than what was advertised. Aside from that, the wire clamps and screws on this plug are a joke. The clamp does not open up enough to insert the wire easily, and the nut part of the assembly is captured by the soft plastic of the shell and nothing else. So when I went to tighten the screws down on the wire, the nut spun in the soft plastic. I had to use needle-nose pliers to hold the nuts in order to get the screws tightened down. Once I finally got this monstrosity assembled, I noticed that the back part of the shell where the cord enters doesn't even clamp down on the outer jacket of the cord. The insulation on the individual conductors is clamped by the plastic molding onside the plug instead. That's not a good design. I finally got this put together and working, but I don't like it at all. I may buy a better plug, chop this one off, and change it. Hard to believe that GE put their name on this junk.

Fixed two old plugs, easy to do

I had a couple of lamps that the plugs had worn out (and were run over by the vacuum). These worked perfectly. Good sturdy construction and a reasonable price. Easy to install.

Needing to replace a damaged plug on my small window fan, I ordered the 2-pack Quick-Wire Plugs. When it arrived, I attempted the install. First the AC wires were difficult to install as described in the packaging; next, closing the device was also difficult because of the heavy insulation. The wires and insulation are not very heavy compared to other small appliances; it draws far less than 15 amps. Over all this plug would be OK for most LED lamps and other devices with light power cords.
