Leder Games | Root: The Exiles and Partisans Deck

Got this expansion as a gift for a friend of mine and played it with him. If you already like Root, then this is a no brainer.

If you're looking into this deck for Root, you've probably played a game or two and have noticed that Root gets a little unbalanced.This game has a lot of necessary policing and kingmaking to ensure that nobody wins too easily, and the base deck for the game definitely contributes to that(I'm looking at you, Favor of the _____ cards). The Exiles and Partisans deck doesn't necessarily add anything new to the game, but it balances out a lot of issues with the main deck.First off, there are no more Favor cards that allow anyone with three crafting pieces of one suit to send everyone back to square one on a certain suit. What E&P has are a bunch of handy crafting cards that are better suited towards allowing players to catch up to the leader, or to prevent another player from getting too far ahead.Cards in this deck like Saboteurs or Corvid Planners allow for strong crafted items to be countered and the rules about moving and ruling a clearing to be ignored by anyone that crafts either of them respectfully.While a couple cards in the deck may not be the easiest to interpret like Coffin Makers or Eyrie Emigré, all in all the deck adds a lot of needed balance to Root, and has completely replaced the base deck in my group every time we play.A fantastic expansion to be played with any group of factions!

Sometimes adjusting cards can make or break a game. This is a good example of a small investment for a big reward. Get this upgrade pack!

A substitute for the original deck of cards , not a must to have but will give a very interesting play style to the game.I liked it a lot but would still use the old one from time to time .it contains lots of crafted cards that let you take advantage of other faction abilities .

It seems that this deck encourages crafting than the original deck, however I wouldn't say that its an absolutely required buy.

Easy to learn expansion for the lovable game Root. New card powers that can add variety to an already variable game. Easily giftable to a Root fan. Good value for money. Love playing with this deck.
