A wonderful story. Perfect for elementary school children.
This is a wonderful book. I purchased this for the library at my elementary school that I work at. I have literally had lines waiting for this book.

Great read!!!
My son and I hav been reading a chapter every day or so, since we got the book! Inkling doesn’t disappoint!! I was a little surprised that a book this long was recommended for the 8yr old category, and skeptical my kiddo would get into it. I thought it started out a bit slow, but a little before halfway thru, we couldn’t put it down! My son, who isn’t big into reading, loves Inkling. He would yell at Vika and her dad, loves Ethan and Soren, and of course Sara! I myself couldn’t wait to get to the next chapter, to see what would happen with Inkling. Such a well written story about the struggles in life And how friends and family come together to support each other. Great read, highly recommend!

Great book, high interest
The story is engaging and the characters are relatable. All of my students (ages 11-14) who read this book thoroughly enjoyed it. Go to Kenneth Oppel’s website to learn about his school visits. We arranged a virtual author visit during which Mr. Oppel discussed his process for making this novel. The students then loved the story even more.

Faulty printing
My daughter enjoyed the story, but the book itself was messed up. About 60 pages in the middle of the book were printed twice. Made it very confusing to read.

Great book
As an adult I read this book before giving it to my 13 year old grandson. The story of a shape shifting ink spot who is able to draw certainly kept my attention. I observed lots of real life happenings. The young boy experiences many emotions as he copes with his mother's death, his father's writer's block, a jealous classmate and his own dilemma with respect to possibly passing 'Inkling's' art as his own when working on a school project.

Imperfect parents and strong children adds richness.
A student (Montessori Class 9 to 12) recommended this book. I read it aloud over Zoom and my class loved it. I really love that there is a child with Downs Syndrome in this book, it offered a nice side-discussion with the children.

I bought this children’s book for my 8 year old son after he found it at the library and loved it. I read a chapter to him each night. Its a funny and creative story.
