AcuRite Temperature and Humidity Solar Radiation Shield

I bought this Acurite Radiation Shield/Cage for a different brand of thermo-hygrometer to the one it is designed for, as I knew that the generous dimensions of the internal void would accommodate my sensor. I was impressed by the quality of the this Shield which is quite a sturdy unit. The Acurite Shield, which arrives fully assembled, is actually constructed from a set of moulded white plastic louvre sections of tapering sizes with plastic latches that enable each section to click firmly into the next. These louvre units can easily be dis-assembled, if necessary, to assist in any modifications, which I needed to do in order to drill some fixing holes for my own cross piece that I screwed onto the internal top plate from which to hang my thermo-hygrometer sensor. The design protects your sensor from rain and also minimises erroneous readings due to direct sunlight but allows the air to flow through. I can recommend this unit.

My Youshiko outside sensor was incompatible with this shield's fittings. Easily fixed with cable ties and works well. The readings seem more accurate as the sensor is now away from the wall giving readings of -4Cwhich is the true reading. Cheaper than other sheilds

Good looking like most of outdoor remote temperature sensors will fit. It is a lot cheaper than its comptitor selling similar seller similar on Amazon. I took a gamble and I think made the best choice. Good recommended seller

This is a very well-made product and is ideal for sheltering an outdoor temperature/relative humidity sensor for a weather station. The only issue encountered was that my sensor was slightly too large to be retained by the plastic insert near the top of the unit, and there is no internal base provided. As a result, I had to fabricate additional plastic inserts to secure the sensor. With an internal base, this would merit a five-star review.

Smaller than expected but adequate for temperature sensor. Fixing for the sensor is a bit hit and miss, as "gripped" by thin plastic clips.

Have used this to accommodate a Govee humidity/temperature sensor, and it fits perfectly.

Hangs outside, in all weathers, but keeps the thermometer dry

Poor product which gives massively wrong readings when in the sun. It either isn't big enough and/or reflective enough so it warms up in the sun and this gives false readings. I checked with it in and out of the shade several times and compared with a known accurate thermometer in the shade and confirmed it heats up in direct sunlight.

Worked very well with fitting my 2 Lacrosse Temp/Humidity sensors. They both read the same exact temp/RH and dewpoint and compare very close to accurate against nearby PBI ASOS station. Resolved my old problems with mounting in the shaded areas. I have both shields with plastic tie straps to the overhang protected open balcony railing NW side of my second floor apt. with very little sunshine. Thank you Amazon for having this item available. It was a big plus for my temp/RH barometer weather stations! Now I can save real accurate Temp/RH and Dewpoint weather data.
