Central Milling Organic All Purpose Unbleached Flour, 160 OZ

The flour is great but I won’t order it on Amazon again! I ordered the same flour directly from central milling as well as Amazon. Price is pretty equal after factoring in shipping. The big difference is that the flour shipped directly from the company arrived in good condition in a box adequate for the flour bag, while the flour from Amazon arrived in a box that was too big which caused the bag of flour to bust open and it ended up with dirt in it. Basically unusable. It’s not cheap flour and should be handled better by Amazon. I’ve used flour from this company for bread baking previously and very happy with it. I’m a big fan of the convenience of ordering everything in one place but with this item I’ll make the extra effort to order from the company directly from now on.

A good 10 pound bag of all-purpose flour, exactly as described, and priced competitively for organic flour. Price is the same it's always been (organic flour has always been more expensive than conventional flour). It was great to see high quality flour available at a reasonable price (around $15 per 5 pounds is typical for organic flour). It arrived faster than expected. I have to wonder if some shoppers didn't realize it was organic, or if they're trying to drive people away from their supply, lol. But that isn't fair to the company.

We've been baking and making pasta like mad during the Covid lockdown and were having a hard time finding flour...particularly organic. This was a bit more pricey (but not that much) than the Bob's Red Mill organic. I think the price has gone up since I last purchased this, but it's a good product. However, at this moment in time it looks like Whole Foods is well stocked in the flour department.

So flour's hard to find during this pandemic. This flour is a good option. It's expensive compared to the Gold Medal you might've got at the grocery store last Thanksgiving But it's organic, it's 10lbs shipped across the country, it's from a smaller mill, it's a double portion, and there's high demand right now. The packaging is just like a regular Gold Medal reinforced paper bag. There's nothing wrong with it. Our flour was fresh and delicious. Definitely no weevils. I'm a little surprised to re-read the product description saying it's low-protein. I made yeast donuts and saw a lot of gluten development, more like what I'd expect from bread flour. The donuts had a lovely chew and rose nicely. I'm an experienced home baker but not a pro, and I didn't follow the recipe strictly, so it could've been my technique. That said, if you're baking bread, this might make a great chewy loaf even if you don't add gluten powder (a shortcut for making AP like bread flour). And also, if I next make something tender like muffins or biscuits, I'm going to be extra careful not to over-mix.

This flour is very good, it has just one minor problem: it does not go thru my sifter. So, I am using it for baking no kneed bread and it works great!

I make a lot of pancakes, crepes and bake somewhat frequently. I really love the texture of this flour. It has a silkiness to it that proves that it's freshly milled and hasn't been sitting around in some warehouse for ages.

This is hands down the best AP flour on the market. Turns my sourdough stater into a beast & my kids say my dinner rolls should be sold at a farmers market, need I say more?
