Better than a digeridoo
Want a good theramin at a good price? Then you don’t need to read a review. It’s not as if there are hundreds of them out there to choose from. In fact I think this is pretty much it. So you’re stuck. But, I might add, stuck in a good place. I gavve it to my daughter for Christmas and it was much more popular than the digeridoo.

Great kid's toy!
This theremin makes some "noise", but it is a toy at best. Any kid would love it. You will need an amp and the proper cord as this is the theremin only. If you are a little more musically advanced, get something else. This is strictly a toy in my opinion. Fun to play with, or for a small sound effect, but a toy. A great gift for the kid who's parents you hate.

Really fun cheap theramin.
This is an awesome little device for making spooky sounds. Makes a really nice sound which is even better if you add reverb and delay. I also ran it through a Big Muff fuzz pedal which made it sound amazing. It does not have a volume control so you need to use a pedal if you want that control. It is also very light, I had to tape it down to feel secure about it. I used it in my music classroom and let kids try it. They absolutely loved it! You have to have an amplifier and guitar cord for it to make sound. Any little guitar amp with reverb would probably sound great. They also make one that mounts on a mike stand. I would probably get that one if I bought it again just so it would be easy to play. But for the money this is a deal.

Mine does what Burns said it would do (so far so good).
I saw quite mixed reviews for this product, but was guessing many people who complained did not read details before they bought it. I'm a long time engineer and musician and appreciated the prior reviews warning of how light it is. I have designed many of my own inexpensive synths and guitar effects for myself, and this is like a do-it-yourself kit someone has put together for you. Here is what you get and what it does... FORM/FUNCTION: A plastic box with a retractable antenna, a rotating knob functioning as both an on-off switch and a sensitivity control, and a quarter-inch mono (like electric guitar) jack coming out of the top. A wall wart power supply is connected internally to the box, so you can't detach it. PERFORMANCE: I connected the 1/4 inch output to my guitar amp for the following test. With the sensitivity set to about 1/2 a turn, and with the box set on a wood stool far from everything else in the room, it produces no sound when I am farther than about 2-3 feet away (there is hysteresis, so it's ~2ft to start and ~3ft to stop). At this setting, the starting with a low note of ~Bb (apparently close to 60Hz power or harmonic) about 1 or 2 octaves below middle C, I was able to easily span 5 octaves (and play a distinct pitch at each octave) and reached a 6th octave, though it was with my middle finger about 1mm from the antenna and it was not easy for me to control (but that was in the first few minutes of trying, so I suspect I can get better with practice). For less controlled pitch, it was likely several octaves up to where it became inaudible. I was pleased with this performance since it is much better than the 4 octaves they claim for pitch range, and much better than reviews I read for spatial range, and many said it doesn't turn off. With different sensitivity settings it does not turn off no matter how far away I get, but that's likely because the stool, floor, ceiling and other things come into play. I would be interested to know if others get the same pitch range by using the same test set-up, or is there a quality control issue causing product performance variance. Considering Amazon typically has large mark-ups for specialty items that are not moving in huge volume, I think Burns is likely not making much from this transaction and thus feel this is a very fair price.

Fake Noise Maker.
The Theremin makes noise continuosly, there is no zero volume. Using the pitch control creates sound effects but is so far icant make it play a tune. But the most annoying fact is that it was sent to me needing electronic modification before i could play it...AND I AM NOT AN ELECTRICIAN...AND THERE WAS NO MENTION OF THIS ON THE WEBSITE.All in all i felt quite ripped off with a really cheap product. I didn,t send it back because i had to make the modification before icould even use it.The company knew they were sending me a Theremin that was not wired for this country..Australia, so they sent me a warningpage with my purchase...blah blah blah , you must not use this as is...modify it like this.If they were an HONEST COMPANY THEY WOULD HAVE SENT ME AN E-MAIL TELLING ME OF THE NEEDEDMODIFICATION AND GIVING ME THE CHANCE TO REFUSE THE PURCHASE AND GET A FULL REFUND .ANYWAY THEY DIDNT DO THAT SO I ENDED UP WITH A REALLY CRAP FAKE NOISE MAKER.RUBBISH>Sincerely,M. great basic theremin
i use this heavily effected in a studio type of setting. it is best suited for this type of situation in my opinion. not super portable or mount-able. the hard wired power cable (non detachable) is a little short and kind of a pain. it would be rad if the construction material had more weight to it so while it is lying on a flat surface the weight of the cable wouldn't cause it to become as prone to being knocked over. sounds great though. for my purposes i wish it went an octave lower to hit bass/sub bass frequencies. i also wish it didn't sound so farty at the lower frequencies haha but i guess that's how oscillators work.

Works but the sound can’t be stopped once turned on!!
I am not happy with this product! It works but as soon as you turn it on a tone starts! I bought the one that you mount to a mic stand and that one worked the way I excepted. It should only make sounds once you put your hand close to the antenna.
