AcuRite 01036M Wireless Weather Station with Programmable Alarms, Gray, Display Version 2

Have mine for about 16 days and it works great. Easy to set-up, take your time and follow the instructions. (READ MANUAL FULLY FIRST)..All the readings are accurate. 33 feet is the ideal height, mine is at 8 feet, in direct and indirect sunlight (trees, houses) I checked the accuracy by local, National, and my own gauges, set around the house. The 15 day adjustment period ended yesterday. The online (MY Backyard Weather) works just fine, if you need it. Wish I could send (embed) the page to my (LIVE) Weather cam on YouTube, but it won't let me. Remember, your reading at home doesn't mean the local and national reading will be exact. The local reading from two stations in my area are always off at lease two degrees, and they are only 5 miles apart. I use the station for My Weather, around the house, and separate it from the National and Local readings, even though I use those readings as a guide, I have TV/Computer to get those readings. The READINGS are so close, about one degree +-..The only thing that I would liked changed is.. the screen needs to be able to tilt (on it's stand). and if mounted on the wall, If you don't have it exactly at a certain position, it will dim out, where the reading is difficult or can't be read. A minor problem but can be annoying. A handyman can remedy this problem. Longevity, well, if it last seven years (and still working accurately) like my AcuRite wireless thermometer, I will be more than satisfied. PS.. I only paid 107 dollars for a USED/LIKE NEW, from Amazon Warehouse, only one little smug on the back, hard to see.. you can save money, buy buying used like new items, and you still have a Warranty... This is a really excellent weather station. Over the years I've had a number of different weather stations and find this AcuRite mode to be the best at this point for the money. Color display is very nice with a multitude of options for display information. The weather ticker on the bottom of the display is a nice added feature. The actual weather station is excellent in it's measurements of temp, wind, rain, pressure, humidity, wind direction etc. I have had no issue with connection between the station and the display unit. The connection between the display unit and your PC is via a USB provided cable. The display runs either on batteries or has a ac provide unit. If there is a weakness to this weather station it would be the necessity of keeping the display unit connected to a PC for streaming daily weather information and if you plan on streaming your station to the Weather Underground. I had not planned on doing this but now find that I like that feature. Keeping weather station connected to your PC also allows you to access all you weather information via an app on your smartphone. Another feature I've gotten hooked on. So if you are using a laptop like I am and want to take your laptop on a trip, vacation etc, you lose the above mentioned abilities because of having to unhook the display from your PC. There is a solution which I have on order and that is AcuRite's internet bridge with remote monitoring. This unit will allow you to stream all info without having to have a physical connection between your display and PC. This is a great unit and you can't go wrong with this.

How this company could get some things so right, & others so wrong, is remarkable. 1st, the "right." Calculates stuff like heat-index, wind-chill, dew-point (if you need that sort of info). Looks snazzy, all lit up with (phony) colors (colored paper background for the LCD display). 2nd, the "wrong." 1. Okay, I'm all about "How hot is inside vs. out? Do I turn on the AC or open a Window?" "What about the humidity outside? My grand piano only likes between 40% & 60%." On this unit, the INSIDE temperature is an afterthought. It's one possible selectable setting on a panel that also functions for 4 others things. What if it's one of THOSE things you're interested in? Well, you can forget about the inside temperature, OR you've gotta start pushing buttons. Stupid. 2. Where's the "history?" What's the "trend?" Nowhere to be found on this thing. Oh, sure, it'll tell you accumulated rainfall. THAT'S IT. No barometer trend, humidity tracking, nothing. You probably gotta plug it into a PC for all that stuff, AS IF I'm going to purposely make my life more complex & start plugging more electronics into this electronic. 3. So far it's weather prediction has been 100% wrong 100% of the time. The device has a "learning curve" (I think it's 12 days). I think I'm on day 11, but so far it doesn't know WHAT'S going to happen. It's been blistering hot, & it keeps predicting rain. Haven't had any, not even any blistering hot rain. 4. It's off accurate by too much. I know there's a stated tolerance for error, a "+ or - nn%." I don't care about the "legalize," I just accurate results. This is the 5th out of 5 monitoring gizmos I have. They all agree with each other, this one doesn't agree with them. I'm going with the majority and saying this one is off. For the money, it's a good unit. Just be aware it isn't weather-channel accurate and leaves out some essential functions.

Very accurate. Functional. Fully tested. Unfortunately it came with 120V power adapter and not dual 120/240V. I bought it for Europe. I bought a 220Vac/5Vdc adapter at an old scrap depot. Great, I enjoy it. In particular I like the wind feature and Inside/outside temperature. I dont consider the alarms useful. It is mounted in the sun. I was thinking it would give me the temp on sun. No, It gives me temp in the shade, which I compare with another thermostat. Perfect. I don't know how they do it.

We love having this. Seems to be working ok. We had a small issue with it giving improper readings at first but a quick call to the company and they got it working for us. Love it and a fair price for all that you get on it. Really, it is a huge amount of info and we needed to manual to read it all for quite a few weeks. Easy set up. Would definitely buy again.

The batteries have lasted years. The wind speed indicator has quit turning and since I haven’t had to go on the roof to change batteries I haven’t had a look to see why the wind speed isn’t working anymore.
