Nominated for the 2015 Spiel Des Jahrs (Game of the Year) The Game is a cop-operative card game for 1-5 players. In The Game, you'll have to work together with your friends to play cards into one of the four different piles, with the hopes of discarding all 98 cards. The trick is, you aren't allowed to tell anyone else what cards you have, so you'll constantly be on the edge as each card played could upset your best-laid plans.

Awesome numbers card game. Co-op too!
The game is an addicting any-player cooperative card game.First, let me explain the mechanics: - You have a deck with unsorted cards ranging from 2-99 - You have a hand with some of these cards - You have two piles which may only increase in value, and two piles which may only decrease in value - You must place all the cards from the deck into the piles - *** You may not tell your team-mates what cards you have ***, though you can negotiate which piles you'd like to use on your turn. There are some other special rules, but what makes "The Game" so addictive is how close you feel to victory before it all comes crashing down. When a player puts a card down that blocks you from clearing your hand. The one thing that I don't really like about "The Game" is the theming of it. For some reason the packaging makes it out to be a survival horror game, and every card has a skull printed on it. Beyond that printing, the game is entirely abstract. Much like "Pairs", I feel like they could/should have made this in multiple themes. I would have like a digital/hacker themed version instead of these red and black skulls.

What game are we playing? The game. Yeah What game? THE GAME
This game is very simple, play cards onto 4 piles and play all cards in the deck which has one copy of each number from 2-99. Easy right? Oh yeah, you cant show the other players what cards you have, cant talk about numbers and must play 2 cards per turn. This is a cooperative game, playable with 1-5 players in about 20 minutes. Its a quick and frustratingly fun game. You cringe as you have to play cards that will ultiamtely make it harder to play all other cards. Your teammates will groan as you are forced to play "bad" cards. Its a delightful change for people who are sick of monopoly and want a drastic change. This game was nominated for a spiel de jares, which means its a highlight game from last year and is great for families. It has adjustable difficulty, promotes creative communication for kids and teamwork. Its a cheap and creative game for families. It worked well for my wife and myself and we played it with our nephews that were 8 and 13 years old. They grasped the game quickly and easily. Don't be scared off by the bland name and spooky art!

A very entertaining, addictive game!
We thoroughly enjoy this game, and have become mildly addicted to it. We have played it solo, and with 2, 3, 4 and 5 people. Regardless of how many people play, the game is challenging and requires constant reevaluation of the situation and the need to make trade offs. Of course, there is an element of luck involved, since it is a card game. However, to play the game well you have to do mental math calculations with nearly every play, and the more you can remember about the cards that have already been played the better you can anticipate the cards that are still left that may help or hurt you. We end up with less than 10 cards left about 2/3 of the time, under 5 cards about 1/3 of the time, and we win (no cards left in your hand or deck, all have been successfully played) about 1/8 or 1/10 of the time. The Game is easy to learn, and doesn't take long to play. The only negative I can say about The Game is that it is difficult to shuffle 98 cards well. We split them into two piles and shuffle the piles separately, and then do some "cross pile" shuffling as a final attempt to make sure the deck is shuffled good.

Its group solitaire
First of all... WHATS UP WITH THE SPOOKY ART! It's just a simple card game, no need for skull art on the cards. Maybe the art is supposed to make it edgy. Maybe it should be called The Dying Game.It is a fairly simple cooperative game. I only thought it was okay. After playing it once, I'm not sure if I will play it again. For me, it's mostly luck and not much strategy, a bit boring for me. It seems like one of those games that you can sit around and gab while you play. Its group solitaire. For a cooperative game with some energy, creativity, and a sense of urgency, try Forbidden Island.

Perfect Game for EVERYONE, Even Your Mom
My husband and I love games (7 Wonders, Sushi Go, Settlers, etc). After a friend introduced us to the game, we were hooked. The rules are incredibly simple and all you need is the deck of cards and a table, so it's great to play with anyone and anywhere. My parents even liked it! So far we have yet to beat the game, but we will keep trying! Highly recommended for people who love or even hate games.

Great Game!!!
This is an unusual but great game. We played until the wee hours of the morning during the Christmas holidays and enjoyed it every time we played. The players work together to defeat the game and it is still challenging. I hope you will get this back in stock soon. My grandkids (11 and 14) wanted to take it and I gave it to them. Now I want another one for myself and my friends.

Great Co-op game
This game is easy to learn yet difficult to win. You can easily be playing this game in 5 minutes out of the box. Our family tries to play as many cooperative games as possible and this is a favorite, especially when only 2 people want to play. Be warned, it can get frustrating because it isn't just strategy that gets you to the finish line - you need to be lucky as well.

Actually, this was/is an absolutely fantastic game. Not only did the person I gave it to love it (was really hooked from the 1st moment), but my husband and I agreed that it doesn't get better game-wise than "The Game." In summer we told some German friends about it: they purchased it and love it. This Fall we travelled to family in the U.S.A. and gave it to them ---- perfect! Hours of sheer fun. No winners or losers --- all up against "The Game." Will be a hard act to follow. Age-wise --- it's for all ages though adults have to be sensible when playing it with younger people.

ADDICTIVE CARD PLAY!
I really LOVE this Game, though on my surfing the Internet, I found many have not been very kind to it; they think it’s way too simple a concept, and almost nobody seems to be happy with the title, simply ‘The Game’. Unimaginative it might be, and whilst I would agree perhaps it could have had a different and more interesting name, the actual game is really very good. It’s also very challenging. I have played this game now many times, and so far the cards have not ‘come out’ for me. It’s very addictive, and so winning is a bonus, but you get so much pleasure from simply ‘playing’. (if you’re not a sore loser!)I quite like the design of the cards (as simple as it is) as there is a skull in shadow backdrop which implies perhaps the difficulty of the challenge, and in the cards actually ever ‘coming out’.To date there have been two Expansions; the first ‘On Fire’ - the second ‘Extreme’. I currently have these on order, but am sure they will prove to be every bit as good as this!I believe this makes a far better solitaire game than perhaps a co-operative one, and I imagine perhaps this is why some people are not quite satisfied with it. As an individual challenge, for me, this is much better!I purchased this specifically for solo play only.Great game!

Great game!
This looks like a kind of scary game but is not scary at all! It’s one of our favorite games to play with friends and family.
