Bought this to manage SMX1500RM2, more reasonable price for this updated model.
This works great. One caution, if you use probably any of these to update firmware through the web interface, consider resetting the web interface timeout. The default is 3 min and when you launch a firmware update (recalling from memory, as this was a while back) the process opens a new window/term and needs to run longer than the 3 min default timeout. Since this is on a managementy lan, not an issue to leave it at max timeout.

A better alternative to paying for subscriptions
As manufacturers continue to move to force customers to buy subscription licenses, it is always good to have an alternative. I bought this for my rack mount SMT1000, because I found out the "SmartConnect" functionality is crippled unless you pay. Although it is not a cheap option, this vendor is significantly cheaper than APC's list pricing.Installation was a breeze, having prepared the DHCP options in advance on my Unifi environment. I upgraded the firmware, set up SNMP for my QNAP NAS devices, SMTP for alerts, and set up preferences for load-shedding all within a couple of hours. I just need to complete a calibration so that I have an accurate idea of how long the battery will last with my current load.I saw that APC is saying that the firmware I installed is the last "free" update before forcing a support contract for future updates. I'm just a home user, so I'll be fine with what I have.Having battery backup for my NAS devices was the primary reason for this purchase; I now have peace of mind with the UPS, and the ability to control how the battery backup allows my QNAP devices to gracefully shut down in the event of a power outage.

Easy installation & easier configuration
Fixed to APC SmartUPS 2200, connected to network via RJ45, then few setup steps and worked like a charm.

Works As It Should
If you're in IT still managing your APC Smart-UPS devices with the horrible PowerChute software, you're missing out. The only way to properly monitor/maintain your lot is to install this card in each device. Simple to install, get on the network and setup.

Works well
This eliminates the guess work and need to be onsite to look at batter statistics. Easy to install, easy to operate.

BE AWARE, APC is working on REQUIRING a subscription to get firmware updates for this
My older 9630 is end of life for updates. I bought this to get on something currently supported. I installed it and checked for firmware updates. NOWHERE on APC's webpage for this item does it say they are implementing a subscription requirement for future updates. When I downloaded the latest firmware and installed it, there is a WARNING box that pops up indicating this is the last firmware version that is free. I called APC tech support. Their own people don't know what is going on. After waiting on hold for a while, it was confirmed. I asked for the price of the subscription. "That information is not yet available" What a scam. Integrity requires that if you are changing something from free since the beginning of time and are now going to require a subscription you can at least WARN people on the product page this is coming. I would NOT have bought it had I known this, and I looked on the product webpage after learning this to see if I missed it. I DID NOT. NO MENTION of it.

Warranty is horrible
Works fine until it doesn't. And then good luck trying to get it replaced with the warranty. They will run you around in circles talking to you as if you don't know what you're talking about.
