Super duper elegant pen--what a deal!
Quick shipment with great price. V nicely packed and protected--ink cartridge and converter. Exquisitely well made pen, wonderful nib-- smooth, very fine line (soft EF) that is expressive and wonderful to use. Smaller than I expected, but the compact size works very nicely. Very high quality, obvious from the smooth elegant finish. I am super pleased-- look forward to learning the characteristics of the nib--not a flex/ultraflex-- but great variation in line width and quality with a very elegant expressive effect. Wow--- my best pen ever.

Soft, wonderful writer
Even if I like more broad and double broad nibs, I'm extremely pleased with the Falcon soft extra-fine nib, there's a gentle softness in the writing, indeed, that makes even the ultra-sharp EF Japanese nib (Finer than European and American nibs) glide cheerfully over the paper, there is a very perceptible feedback, but a peasant one. I bought this pen for its flexing abilities and it does give a significant amount of flex, from extra sharp EF to beyond broad, but its not a soft flex, it requires a certain amount of preassure and control, suitable for callygraphy but not to get much line variation in your daily writing. I learned after the fact that the FA nib is softer than the Falcon and more suited to get flex in your everyday writing; none the less, I'm delighted with the purchase, it's one of my favorite fountain pens, an extra-fine really sharp point that I don't think I would like without the bouncy softness of this model, and I do not only like it, I enjoy it a lot, it's soft and super precise. Highly recommended, but if you want to make this investment for a flex experience, you better go for an FA nib; the custom 742 has the FA option; it's a gorgeous pen, marvelously constructed, an incredible writer, and more budget-friendly than the other FA nib options currently offered by Pilot.

Writes within a hairline to medium point
I got the SOFT EXTRA FINE point. It is completely opposite to my expectation. I expected that it should work well in English alphabets and should fail in Asian characters. However, it turns to be the opposite. The line variation cannot compete with some vintage flex nibs. 1) It has a great line variation. 2) It can easily reach to a hairline stroke compared to the Pilot PO nib. 3) The ink flow is smooth and constant. To me, it is not the ideal pen for writing the copperplate calligraphy because it cannot write wide strokes. However, it is a great pen if somene prefers extra fine nibs. This pen gives a great line variation between a real hairline (even finer than Pilot PO or Platinum UEF nibs) to medium point, while giving a very smooth ink flow. To me, it is a show-off of Pilot product. I enjoyed the SEF nib very much.

In a word, superb.
I read a ton of reviews before buying this pen. Many complain about the way it handles, but it seems that to a person they are people who write with it. I bought it to use as a drawing tool, and it is a magnificent instrument indeed. It is very much like drawing with certain dip pen nibs, without the pain of having to keep dipping the pen in an ink jar you desperately hope not to upend. All that being said, I decided to buy a second one (A Falcon, with SF nib) to complement this one and the other two Pilot pens I own. It provides JUST the right amount of line variation I require for my work, and it has actually re-invigorated my images. The only complaint I have is with respect to the converter. It is ...unfortunate. They should have made this a piston filler. I would gladly pay $50 more for that option. All in all, in my opinion, the ultimate drawing instrument.

A nice pen with flex nib for daily writing
This is a nice pen and is very comfortable to write with. The line variations are good enough for everyday writing.

Could be the last fountain pen you buy.
Buy some less expensive pens so you can fully appreciate the quality of this pen. We each have different hands and habits so your opinion could differ. Not a beginner pen from the point of cultivating habits that do not damage a pen or make a mess with ink. Almost any other pen will seem insufficient but not all.

Falcon nib
This pen is a pleasure to write with. I probably tend to a heavy hand bit this lovely soft nib keeps me honest.

Not as flexy as advertised
Kinda disappointed with this. It flexes more than other pens but I found the Decimo nib to be more flexible. If you're looking for a decent flex nib, opt for the Decimo

This nib has line variation and it writes beautifully.
