I ordered this kit because I teach wine classes and my students really want to delve into the technical points in sensory evaluation. I thought we could set up 'scent stations' to demonstrate the primary, secondary, and tertiary notes in wine, but more importantly, learn the true scents that have nuance, such as chocolate (mix, dark, cocoa) or 'pit fruit' (is it peach, apricot, nectarine?), etc. I was happy to see the variety of aromas included and the faults are a bonus. Everyone loves learning fault-scents. The kit arrived and is beautiful, well crafted, and seems of very high quality. The scents are pure and true and seem like they'll last awhile if properly stored. I think this was a great purchase that will definitely pay returns!! There was a minor issue in that one of the oils leaked a bit, which really affected the smell of the box itself since it seeped into the felt casing. I let Aromaster know and they sent a replacement box right away. I really couldn't be happier with the experience with them or with the product itself. And the 'scent station' classes that are being offered are already selling out! This was a great purchase.

This is the second wine aroma kit I’ve purchased from Amazon. My first choice was a cheaper kit with 80 aromas, but I was very disappointed with the accuracy of its scents and the quality of the bottles, as some were leaking. I ultimately decided to buy the 88-aroma kit made by Aromaster, which seems to be the industry standard, and I don’t regret it despite the higher price tag. The aromas are spot on, the packaging is beautifully crafted and luxurious, and the board game that comes with it is a great addition for playing with friends.

This kit is really just awesome - I can't recommend it enough. The aromas are spot-on perfect and the game board allowing you to practice is a nice touch. Yes, it's pricey but this is a hobby that demands you part with money once in a while - why not invest in your own training some so that you can best experience the wines you buy in the future?

The packaging is beautiful and the "aromas" are as advertised and we have enjoyed using this product since we received it in April/2017 off and on. Although others had mentioned about the packaging stink I always thought that airing it out would eventually have the odor fade away - that hasn't happened in over the year plus we have had this product. We took the "vials" out of the box so we didn't stink up the house and just let the box air out. The box is very attractive, by the way, and if not for the stink the product is worth the money. In hindsight, we shouldn't have purchased this product - there are other options available.

Absolutely complete set with spot on aromas. Fun way of starting in the world of wine tasting and for me to get better in sensing aromas to really get to the bottom of a wine with all it’s complexity. Compared to what you can buy in the Netherlands you’ll get a lot of value with this kit for the money you pay for. I would recommend it to anyone and a lot of friends in the wine world are enthousiast.

Eine gute ausgewählte Sammlung mit ganzen 88 Aroma-aktiven Substanzen die die meisten Aromen im Wein abdecken. Ich habe mir das Set nicht nur für die Weinsensorik gekauft sondern um meine Nase generell zu schulen, da ich mit flüchtigen Verbindungen arbeite. Für diesen Zweck ist das große Aromaster-Set perfekt geeignet. Man könnte natürlich auch noch weitere Verbindungen ergänzen, welche die Firma auch anbietet für andere Aromasets, aber vielleicht erwägt die Firma ja ein Set mit allen Aromen. Die Wertigkeit des Sets ist sehr gut, das Set kam unbeschädigt an und war sehr gut versiegelt. Um die Siegel zu entfernen sollte man am Besten eine Pinzette verwenden um nicht alle Öle auf den Fingern zu verteilen und andere Fläschchen zu kontaminieren. Der in anderen Rezensionen erwähnte chemische Geruch war bei mir nicht vorhanden, nach Öffnung aller 88 Fläschchen konnte man aber schon eine Mischung vieler Substanzen wahrnehmen da man einfach nicht völlig sauber arbeiten kann bei so geruchsaktiven Verbindungen. Zu den Aromen speziell: Diese sind meist sehr eindeutig aber nicht extrem intensiv, das sich einem die Nase verschließt. Bei manchen Verbindungen wie Heu tat ich mir aber schwer. Wichtig ist auch, den Korkton - Trichloranisol - Schimmel erst als letzter zu testen, da diese Chemikalie die Eigenschaft besitzt die Geruchswahrnehmung zu dämpfen, wie auch im Wein. Ich hätte mir noch eine Beschreibung der einzelnen Aromen gewünscht bzw. aus welcher Quelle sie stammen, also ob es ein ätherisches Öl aus der Pflanze ist oder eine chemische Einzelsubstanz wie bei TCA zb. und ob diese in Trägeröl gelöst ist oder 100% rein. Aber das ist für normale Weinliebhaber eher zweitrangig. Das Weinspiel konnte ich noch nicht testen, ich finde die Idee jedoch sehr interessant und passend als Zugabe zu diesem Set. Die Anleitung zu den Fehlaromen ist gut erklärt und lässt wenig Fragen offen und die Übersetzungen sind Fachbegriffe sind gut gewählt. Auch das beigelegte Aromarad ist wertig und nützlich. Alles in Allem kann ich dieses Set empfehlen. Der Preis ist etwas hoch für meinen Geschmack und es wird aus China versendet (über Amerika - Wartezeit), aber aromatische Substanzen sind eben oft nicht billig herzustellen und daher kann man den Preis rechtfertigen.
